10 Satisfying Enemies-To-Lovers Books To Add To Your TBR - From "Pride & Prejudice" To "The Viscount Who Loved Me"

Beach Read was my first foray into the whimsical world of Emily Henry. The novel tells the story of January Andrews, a romance writer who has lost inspiration after life gets her down. In a twist of fate, she becomes neighbors with bestselling author Augustus "Gus" Everett, known for his bleak stories that lack happy endings. Simply put, the two don't like each other... but they are stuck living side by side. Alas! 

Jasmine Guillory is another rom-com queen that romance readers need to know about. The Wedding Party focuses on Maddie and Theo, two adversaries who can't seem to escape one another after committing to being involved in their friend's wedding. Stuck together for weeks on end, this novel is chock full of palpable tension and a steamy storyline. 

Fans of the Netflix Bridgerton series have got to dive into Julia Quinn's original novels. Much like the show, the second book focuses on the unconventional romance between Anthony Bridgerton and Kate, the older sister of his intended match. Outwardly, Anthony and Kate despise one another, but as those pages turn, readers are in for a slow and satisfying burn.

After an entire wedding party falls prey to food poisoning, sister-of-the-bride Olive finds a free honeymoon up for grabs. An impromptu trip to Maui sounds like paradise — until Olive realizes she won't be going alone. Not only must she share her vacation with Ethan, the annoying best man, but the two are stuck pretending to be a newly married couple. Such fun!

With his mother elected as president, Alex Claremont-Diaz has a reputation to uphold. When the Claremont-Diaz family visits England, Alex gets into a fight with Prince Henry of the royal family, leaving the tabloids in a frenzy. To minimize damage, the two are forced to stage a public friendship... and start to grow fond of one another as time goes on.

Another trope I am a sucker for involves big-city workaholics finding love during some random visit to a quaint and charming town. Enter Emily Henry's novel, Book Lovers. The story follows Nora Stephens, a literary agent with zero work-life balance, who stumbles upon her arch nemesis, book editor Charlie Lastra when she visits a small town. A glorious enemies-to-lovers read ensues! 

When Feyre accidentally kills a magical creature, she must pay the price by being trapped in the home of Tamlin, a high lord in a mystical realm. This first book in Sarah J. Maas' popular series is a true enemies-to-lovers tale; though, in my opinion, the trope is done even better in the later books (*ahem* A Court of Silver Flames). If the fantasy genre is your cup of tea, this steamy series is for you.

With a big promotion on the line, Lucy Hutton can't stand her office rival, Joshua Templeman. Even worse? He can't stand her. The two commit to one-upping each other to climb the corporate ladder and Lucy is determined to get that promotion and become Joshua's boss. The Hating Game has good banter, workplace drama, and elevator smooches aplenty.

I fully blame my enemies-to-lovers enjoyment on watching You've Got Mail one too many times. Last Chance Books is a re-telling of this story, centered around Madeline Moore, a young woman who has inherited her family's adorable independent bookshop. Everything is fine and dandy until a chain bookstore opens across the street, run by a heartless and handsome man named Jasper. Need I say more?

Pride & Prejudice is perhaps the OG enemies-to-lovers novel. My girl Jane Austen knew what she was doing when she penned the story of Elizabeth Bennett, an intelligent woman living in the1800s who can't be bothered with marriage. She forms a rivalry with Mr. Darcy, a brooding and snobbish aristocrat. These characters go from being bogged down with pride and prejudices to being bewitched, body and soul. And I love it.
