Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Gets clean MRI
An MRI on Feltner's throwing shoulder came back negative Friday, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports.
The right-hander was placed on the IL on Thursday with a strained right shoulder, but Friday's MRI confirmed he isn't dealing with any structural damage. The team is optimistic that Feltner might return after the minimum 15 days, meaning the 27-year-old could rejoin the rotation as soon as Aug. 23. In the meantime, Dakota Hudson and Tanner Gordon will hold down the back end of the Rockies' rotation.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Placed on injured list
The Rockies placed Feltner on the 15-day injured list Thursday due to a right shoulder strain.
Feltner was pulled from his start Wednesday after just one inning due to shoulder and lat issues, and manager Bud Black said immediately after the game that it was likely the 27-year-old would need to spend time on the IL. With Feltner sidelined until at least Aug. 23 and German Marquez (elbow) set to miss the rest of the season, the Rockies will need to promote someone from Triple-A to fill the fifth spot in their rotation. For now, they'll recall Riley Pint to provide additional bullpen depth.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Trip to IL likely
Feltner was removed from Wednesday's game against the Mets due to shoulder soreness and a lat issue, Kyle Newman of The Denver Post reports.
Manager Bud Black added that Feltner will likely be headed to the injured list as a result of his injuries. The 27-year-old righty was able to get through just one inning during his start Wednesday, during which he gave up one earned run on two hits and struck out a batter. The Rockies haven't yet named a replacement for Feltner in the rotation, though the spot could be given to German Marquez (elbow), who is nearing a return from the injured list.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Logs quality start
Feltner did not factor into the decision in Thursday's extra-inning win over the Angels, allowing three runs on seven hits and one walk over six innings while striking out three.
Feltner kept the Angels off the board through the first three innings before surrendering a two-run shot to Logan O'Hoppe in the bottom of the fourth, tying the game at 2-2. The right-hander would then go on to allow a second long ball in the sixth, losing out on his chance for the win as the Angels took the lead. Feltner has now logged three quality starts in a row, though he's also given up multiple home runs in two of his last three outings. He's still looking for his first win since April 12 against the Blue Jays (span of 19 starts).

Feltner allowed one run on four hits and four walks while striking out six over six innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Saturday.
Feltner pitched well, allowing a single run on a solo home run to Matt Chapman. He otherwise worked in and out of trouble in the no-decision. Feltner (1-10) allowed three runs (two earned) on six hits and a walk over seven frames Sunday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Giants.
Feltner served up two solo homers in the loss, including Jorge Soler's leadoff shot to open the game. Feltner has fallen to 0-9 over his last 17 appearances since his lone win of 2024. However, he's looked much better as of late; Feltner has posted a 2.83 ERA over his last five starts. His season ERA sits at 5.19 with a 97:34 K:BB through 109.1 innings. Feltner's next outing is projected to be a rematch in San Francisco.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Issues five walks in defeat
Feltner (1-9) took the loss against the Mets on Saturday, allowing four runs (three earned) on two hits and five walks while striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings.
Feltner had trouble finding the striking zone, as the five walks were two more than his previous season high. Three of the free passes came in the second frame, which was when the Mets scored all four of their runs against him. Feltner did at least manage to register seven punchouts, but he couldn't avoid his ninth loss of the campaign. Among NL pitchers, only teammate Dakota Hudson has lost more games, and Feltner has been mostly ineffective with a 5.36 ERA and 1.45 WHIP across 102.1 innings.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Handed tough-luck loss
Feltner (1-8) yielded two runs (one earned) on four hits and three walks over seven innings Monday, striking out six and taking a loss against the Reds.
Feltner gave up a pair of runs in the fourth inning of what was otherwise a strong outing. He generated 14 swinging strikes on 92 pitches, his best output since forcing 22 whiffs in Philadelphia on April 17. He's 0-2 over his last three starts despite allowing just four earned runs over 18 frames during that stretch. Feltner lowered his ERA to 5.29 through 98.2 innings but hasn't picked up a win since April 12. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Mets this weekend.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Start pushed to Cincinnati series
Feltner is no longer scheduled to pitch Sunday against the Royals at Coors Field and is expected to make his next start during the Rockies' upcoming four-game series in Cincinnati, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports.
Tanner Gordon will be called up from Triple-A Albuquerque to start Sunday's game, while Feltner will presumably be pushed back just one day in the pitching schedule to start Monday's series opener in Cincinnati. According to Skyler Timmins of PurpleRow.com, manager Bud Black said the decision to push back Feltner in the pitching schedule was in part due to his stronger numbers on the road (4.65 ERA in 50.1 innings) compared to at Coors Field (6.75 ERA in 41.1 innings) in addition to the fact that the Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio native will have family and friends in attendance for the Cincinnati series. Assuming Feltner takes the hill Monday or Tuesday against the Reds, he'll tentatively line up for a two-start week, with his second turn set to come next weekend in New York against the Mets.

Rockies' Ryan Feltner: Allows one run in no-decision
Feltner didn't factor in the decision in Tuesday's loss to the Brewers after he gave up one run on six hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three.
The right-hander certainly wasn't dominant, as he generated only seven whiffs on 83 pitches. However, he limited Milwaukee to just a single tally in the second inning. Feltner has now gone at least five frames in each of his past five starts, and he has a 4.18 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 26:7 K:BB across 28 innings during that stretch. For the season, Feltner carries a 1-7 record with a 5.82 ERA in 16 outings, with his lone victory coming back in mid-April.
