Diamondbacks' Corbin Carroll: Homer, stolen base in twin bill
Carroll went 2-for-8 with a two-run homer, a stolen base and three total runs scored in Wednesday's doubleheader sweep against Cleveland.
Carroll extended Arizona's lead to 4-0 in the matinee Wednesday, taking Ben Lively deep for a two-run shot in the fifth inning before adding another hit and swiping his 21st bag in the nightcap. The 23-year-old Carroll now has nine homers on the year, with six coming in his last 19 games. He's still slashing a disappointing .215/.307/.367 through 477 plate appearances this season, though Carroll's posted a .900 OPS in 17 contests since the All-Star break.

Carroll hit a walk-off, two-run home run in Monday's 9-8 win over the Nationals.
Carroll started the game on the bench to avoid a matchup with left-handed pitcher Mitchell Parker. That left Carroll to come in off the bench, pinch hitting for Kevin Newman in the ninth inning. The homer was Carroll's sixth over his last 16 contests, giving him eight long balls on the year. The outfielder is hitting .236 (13-for-55) in that span, though that's an improvement on his .214 batting average for the season. He's added a .662 OPS, 38 RBI, 66 runs scored and 20 stolen bases over 103 contests.

Carroll, hitting out of the eight-hole against a left-handed starter, led off the second inning with a solo shot to give Arizona a lead. The home run was his seventh of the season and fourth in the last nine contests, during which he's knocked in 10 runs. Carroll remains a leadoff batter against righties but is now being dropped further down the lineup against lefties.
