Pelicans' Jose Alvarado: Leads Puerto Rico in Olympic loss
Alvarado ended with 18 points (7-13 FG, 3-7 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three assists, one rebound and one steal across 22 minutes in Puerto Rico's 104-83 loss to Team USA in the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
Puerto Rico's Olympic campaign has officially ended with an 0-3 record in Group C. Alvarado led Puerto Rico to an early lead; however, once Team USA got going in the second quarter the game quickly got out of hand. The 26-year-old scored a team-high 18 points in the loss, and he served as the squad's top option throughout the group stage. In three group-phase appearances, Alvarado averaged 15.3 points, 3.0 assists and 1.7 rebounds across 23.7 minutes per game.

Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Comes close to double-double
Theis finished with seven points (3-7 FG, 1-2 3Pt), eight rebounds, two assists and two steals for Germany in Friday's 85-71 win over France.
Dennis Schroder and Franz Wagner led the way for Germany in the scoring column, but Theis was impressive in other areas, ultimately finishing just two boards and three points shy of a double-double. Theis is expected to remain as Germany's starting center in the knockout stages of the Olympics, keeping Moritz Wagner in a bench role.

Pelicans' Jose Alvarado: Game-high 26 points in loss
Alvarado totaled 26 points (9-16 FG, 3-8 3Pt, 5-6 FT), five assists, two rebounds and two steals across 32 minutes in Puerto Rico's 90-79 loss to South Sudan in the Paris Olympics on Sunday.
Despite the loss, Alvarado was stellar against South Sudan and scored a game-high 26 points. The 26-year-old has made a name for himself as a defensive nightmare for opposing backcourts, and he showed his offensive abilities while tying the team high of two steals. In 56 regular-season appearances with the Pelicans last year, Alvarado averaged 7.1 points, 2.3 rebounds and 2.1 assists in 18.4 minutes per game.

Pelicans' Daniel Theis: Perfect from field in win
Theis tallied 18 points (7-7 FG, 2-2 3Pt, 2-2 FT), seven rebounds and one steal across 20 minutes in Germany's 97-77 win over Japan in the Paris Olympics on Saturday.
Theis impressed with his performance against Japan, racking up a team-high seven boards while shooting 100 percent from the field. The 32-year-old will likely play a significant role in Germany's Olympic campaign, which is also his first appearance at the Olympics. Theis will be asked to excel on the glass and the defensive side of the ball, especially as the squad still has yet to play France's spectacular frontcourt in the group phase.

Pelicans' Trey Jemison: Headed to New Orleans
The Pelicans claimed Jemison off waivers Friday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports.
Jemison was waived by the Grizzlies earlier this week but will now have the opportunity to compete for minutes in the Pelicans' frontcourt rotation. In 2023-24, Jemison averaged 6.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 assists in 23.0 minutes across 25 regular-season appearances.

Pelicans' Jose Alvarado: Set to play for Puerto Rico
Alvarado is included on Puerto Rico's roster for the Paris Olympics.
Alvarado is slated to remain in New Orleans for a fourth consecutive year during the 2024-25 NBA season, but he'll first play for the Puerto Rican national team in the Olympics. Pelicans' Jordan Hawkins: Won't return Saturday
Hawkins has been ruled out for the remainder of Saturday's Summer League game against the Nuggets due to a right ankle injury.
Hawkins underwent X-rays after sustaining the injury, which came back negative. Still, the Pelicans will refrain from putting the 22-year-old back into its final Summer League contest. Hawkins will finish the game with three points (0-3 FG, 3-4 FT) and a block across 11 minutes. It's unclear if the injury will impact Hawkins' availability for training camp.

Pelicans' Karlo Matkovic: Sitting out SL finale
Matkovic won't play in Saturday's Summer League game against the Nuggets due to left groin soreness, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
A draft-and-stash player from the 2022 NBA Draft, Matkovic joined the Pelicans' G League affiliate late in the 2023-24 season and has been part of the team's Summer League roster in Las Vegas. With the Pelicans a bit thin in the frontcourt, Matkovic could see occasional playing time during the upcoming season. His groin injury shouldn't impact his availability for training camp.

Pelicans' Yves Missi: Battling back soreness
Missi won't play in Saturday's Summer League game against the Nuggets due to lower back soreness, Will Guillory of The Athletic reports.
Missi won't suit up for the Pelicans' final Summer League contest as he tends to pain in his lower back. The 20-year-old flashed some of the rim protection and athleticism in Las Vegas that coaxed the Pelicans into selecting him with the 21st overall pick in this year's draft. He should be ready to go for training camp.

Pelicans' Yves Missi: Scores 11 points with three blocks
Missi went 5-of-8 from the floor and 1-of-2 at the line Thursday, tallying 11 points, six rebounds, one assist, three blocks and one turnover across 30 minutes in an exhibition loss to Memphis.
Missi hadn't been terribly impressive through his first three outings in Las Vegas, but he showed some promise Thursday with his instincts as a rim defender. He also exhibited some nice footwork in the post. Missi is an impressive athlete, so it'll be interesting to see what kind of role he can earn in New Orleans during his rookie season.

Pelicans' Karlo Matkovic: Gets three-year deal from New Orleans
Matkovic agreed to a three-year, $4.9 million contract with the Pelicans on Sunday, Shams Charania of The Athletic reports.
Selected by the Pelicans with the No. 52 overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft, Matkovic spent most of the last two seasons in Europe before joining New Orleans' G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron, this past February. He appeared in 10 games for Birmingham, averaging 17.3 points, 8.1 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 31.3 minutes per game. After recording eight points and eight rebounds for the Pelicans in his first outing in the Las Vegas Summer League on Friday, Matkovic has now been formally added to the club's 15-man roster after signing a contract, which includes a team option for 2026-27. Matkovic could find his way into the rotation for a new-look Pelicans squad that wasn't able to retain two key frontcourt players in Jonas Valanciunas and Naji Marshall in free agency.

Pelicans' Jamal Cain: Inks deal with New Orleans
The Pelicans signed Cain to a two-way contract Friday, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
Cain spent last season with the Heat on a two-way deal, averaging 3.7 points and 1.4 rebounds in 10.0 minutes across 26 regular-season NBA appearances. In 2024-25, Cain is set to split time between the Pelicans and their G League affiliate, the Birmingham Squadron.

Pelicans' Jordan Ford: Joining Pelicans for Summer League
The Pelicans added Ford to their Summer League roster on Friday, Sean Cunningham of Fox 40 Sacramento reports.
After playing with the Kings on a two-way contract last season and beginning the Las Vegas Summer League with Sacramento, Ford will now join the Pelicans' Summer League roster. The second-year guard will have an opportunity to compete for a regular-season roster spot.
