  • Dolphins' Malik Washington: Flashes all-purpose skills in win

Washington rushed once for 21 yards, hauled in one of four targets for five yards, returned two kickoffs for 46 yards and ran back four punts for 21 yards in the Dolphins' 20-13 preseason win over the Falcons on Friday night. He also fumbled once but recovered.

The rookie sixth-round pick had impressed during joint practices with the Falcons this week, and he was able to carry some of that momentum into Friday night's preseason opener. Washington wasn't able to maximize his opportunities through the air, but he flashed with his work as a rusher and on returns. The night was a positive initial step overall in Washington's quest for a roster spot, and he should see his fair share of touches again in the Dolphins' second exhibition game versus the Commanders on Aug. 17.

  • Dolphins' Jeff Wilson: Finds end zone in preseason win

Wilson rushed five times for seven yards and secured three of four targets for 18 yards and a touchdown in the Dolphins' 20-13 preseason win over the Falcons on Friday night.

Wilson drew the start with both Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane sitting out, but as his final line implies, the veteran back could barely get anything going on the ground. However, Wilson showed off his trademark pass-catching acumen with solid work through the air, and he recorded Miami's first touchdown of the night on a six-yard reception early in the second quarter. Wilson did see rookie fourth-round pick Jaylen Wright, who entered the game after him, impress with 55 rush yards and a score on the ground, and the talented Tennessee product represents Wilson's biggest threat to a roster spot.

  • Dolphins' Jaylen Wright: Impresses in preseason opener

Wright rushed 10 times for 55 yards and a touchdown and failed to bring in his only target in the Dolphins' 20-13 preseason win over the Falcons on Friday night. He also recovered a fumble.

The rookie fourth-round pick came into the game following starter Jeff Wilson, taking his first carry with 11:10 remaining in the second quarter. Wright proceeded to quickly rack up 21 yards on those first three touches, then recorded a six-yard touchdown on his fourth rush attempt. The Tennessee product subsequently tallied a game-long rush of 14 yards, and his body of work was highly encouraging overall for a professional debut. Wright should be in for another solid workload in the Dolphins' second preseason game against the Commanders on Aug. 17 if Raheem Mostert and De'Von Achane continue to be handled with caution for that contest.

  • Dolphins' Tua Tagovailoa: No action in preseason opener

Tagovailoa did not play in the Dolphins' 20-13 preseason win over the Falcons on Friday night.

As expected, Miami's $212.4 million quarterback was on the sideline for the exhibition opener. However, considering the 2020 first-round pick did play in the final two preseason games last summer after also sitting out the first contest, Tagovailoa could at least see a series or two against the Commanders in a home preseason battle a week from Saturday night.

  • Dolphins' Malik Washington: Building momentum at camp

Washington has stood out in back-to-back joint practices with the Falcons, and he connected on a deep target from quarterback Skylar Thompson for a highlight-reel play Wednesday, Joe Schad of The Palm Beach Post reports.

Washington is listed as a fifth-string wide receiver on Miami's first unofficial depth chart of the preseason, but he still has plenty of time remaining to make his case for a spot on the 53-man roster. The rookie sixth-round pick has impressed in recent practice while Jaylen Waddle (undisclosed) and Braxton Berrios (undisclosed) have missed time, and he took advantage of Tyreek Hill logging limited work Wednesday. Head coach Mike McDaniel praised Washington's early development during Wednesday's presser, noting that the receiver is "operating as a pro in terms of how he's studying, his ownership of the playbook, and how reliable he is with assignments for his teammates." The rookie could further help his stock if he's able to flash in Friday's preseason opener against Atlanta.

  • Dolphins' Mike Harley: Finds new opportunity

Harley signed a contract with the Dolphins on Wednesday, Omar Kelly of The Miami Herald reports.

Harley has spent time with the Browns since going undrafted in 2022, but he has yet to find his way to the active roster on gameday other than in the preseason. The 26-year-old will now work to earn a depth role in Miami.
