Is the devil slipping through the cracks of your daily life?

In this episode of “The Catholic Gentleman,” John Heinen, Sam Guzman, and Devin Schadt discuss subtle tactics Satan uses to ensnare us and how to combat them. They share three specific ways the enemy infiltrates our lives and give practical advice for reclaiming spiritual freedom!

1) Envy and Jealousy

Envy, often masked as a harmless comparison, can poison our hearts.

"When you’re focused on what you do not have; it comes from a place of deep discontent," Guzman warns. This feeling can extend beyond material goods to envying others' spiritual gifts. To counteract envy, they suggest cultivating gratitude by intentionally acknowledging and thanking God for the blessings in your own life.

2) Resentment and Unforgiveness

Resentment can anchor us to past hurts, giving the devil a foothold in our lives. Schadt shares the powerful story of Corrie ten Boom, who was able to forgive a Nazi guard responsible for her sister's death.

"When you’re holding on to someone else’s sin, you’re not holding onto the cross, and it’s got control over you," he says.

Practicing forgiveness, even when it seems impossible, can liberate us from the bondage of resentment.

3) Lack of Self-Awareness

Self-awareness is important in recognizing the devil’s tricks. Heinen warns that "we can look the part, but are completely missing that we’re not remaining in Christ on the inside."

Developing self-awareness involves examining our actions and thoughts regularly, seeking to align them with God’s will, and being vigilant against the devil’s work.

The gentlemen say learning to identify and combat these spiritual attacks will help you grow closer to God!
