MaXXXine

Majority of characters are women, including main character Maxine (Mia Goth), who's capable of violence and acts largely out of self-interest but is extremely capable and self-reliant. Powerful, feared film director Elizabeth Bender (Elizabeth Debicki) is another strong female character. Giancarlo Esposito, who's mixed-race Black and White, plays Maxine's tough agent; mixed-race performer Halsey and Tongan actor Uli Latukefu have supporting roles. Maxine's best friend is Leon (Moses Sumney), a Black video store clerk who's also implied to be gay (there's a line about how he's the only one who doesn't want to sleep with Maxine) -- but, in stereotypical horror film fashion, he doesn't last long. Michelle Monaghan plays one half of a pair of police homicide detectives; her partner is a man of Cuban descent (as is the actor who plays him, Bobby Cannavale). Most White men are portrayed as villains or buffoons. A character uses the discriminatory term "homos."

Gory corpses, with Satanic symbols carved in their flesh. Lots of blood spatters. Corpse covered with blood-stained sheet. Women are bound, gagged, and held prisoner in a closet, screaming and sobbing. Character is brutally slashed and stabbed with huge knife. Characters are stabbed in the nose with a switchblade and in the eye with a cross, knocked out with a baseball bat, and crushed inside a vehicle, handcuffed to the wheel; blood pours out of an opening below the door. Women are strangled/ knocked unconscious with plastic bag and threatened with a hot brand. Dogs lick blood from ground. Character imagines that aged, gnarled hands are grabbing her around her throat. Earring yanked out of earlobe. Character grabs video camera, smashes it to the ground. Fake blood effects on movie set. Character has a panic attack. In frustration/anger, a person rips a board loose from a "live nude girls" booth. Woman forces a man to "fellate" the muzzle of a gun. Sexual threat. Fake "severed head" movie prop. Foot chase. References to devil worshippers, serial killers, evil lyrics on rock records, etc.

Graphic simulated sex (the filming of a pornographic movie) with naked breasts and bottoms, thrusting, moaning, etc. Archive footage of the main character's pornographic film; topless, she sits on someone who's out of frame, grinding and moaning. A woman performs a private dance for a customer behind a window. Woman is asked to show her breasts during audition. Brief scene inside a strip club. Graphic dialogue. A video store has a display called the "Fetish Zone," seen in the background, with whips and other sex toys. Character begins watching the pornographic film Behind the Green Door on VHS (only title screen shown).

Strong language throughout includes uses of "f--k," "s--t," "bulls--t," "motherf----r," "bitch," "ass," "Jesus," "piss," "whore," "frickin'."

Characters snort cocaine. A pornographic movie set comes with a vase full of cocaine. Cigarette smoking throughout.
