Retta and Alison Victoria are returning to HGTV this fall, but their popular show will look a little different. HGTV announced a brand-new spin off of Ugliest House in America, where houses will be judged on an entirely new scale. The new project is expected to be a real nail-biter, and an exciting new angle for the popular show!

Rather than searching for the Ugliest House in America, Retta will be on the hunt for the Scariest House in America in this four-episode spin-off series. Retta will judge the houses based on their scare-quality, and Alison will step in during the season finale for a complete transformation of the scariest house.

Scariest House in America is set to premiere in October 2024, just in time for Halloween! While fans are thrilled about the spooky spin-off, Retta wasn't too keen on the idea. "Not sure how I got roped into this," she said. "I don't do scary. I don't like to be scared. I don't like scary movies. Halloween is my least favorite holiday but here we are."

Nonetheless, Retta faced her fears and agreed to host the spin-off. Retta shared a sneak peek of her Scariest House in America wardrobe on Instagram as filming is underway.

"Coming in October . . . We just finished shooting the first season of Scariest House in America (thank God 🙏🏾) . . . and the lewks are SCARY good. Keep an eye out for it in October. I normally go for bright colors in Ugliest House but we went for a fall vibe this go around with more pants and long sleeves. (Went out of my comfort zone with some blues even!)," Retta wrote on Instagram.

Scariest House in America isn't the only exciting project in the works for Retta. HGTV also announced that Ugliest House in America will return for season six in 2025! In the meantime, fans can catch up on past episodes of Ugliest House in America on Max or Discovery+.
