Harold Dean Tomes, 90, passed early on July 12, 2024 at the Enclave of East Louisville. Harold was born in 1934 in Big Reedy, Kentucky (Edmonson County).
Harold lived a full life and enjoyed traveling. He retired after almost 40 years at Ford Motor Company. He was a founding member and elder at Faith Presbyterian Church and was a longtime member of Middletown Christian Church. He was president of Prairie Village Little League and Jesse Stuart High School Boosters. He was a long time volunteer with Dare to Care. He was a Kentucky Colonel, an avid University of Kentucky Wildcats fan, loved fishing at Nolin Lake, and spending time at Fort Myers Beach.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of nearly 72 years, Pauline Hay Tomes; three children, Sharon Peterson (Rob), Diana Buelow (Terry), and Ron Tomes (Sue); grandchildren, Marie Peterson, Dr. Julie Peterson (Mike Eskelson), Lindsey Brodsky (Jamie), Dr. Lisa Tomes (Rob Mullett); great-grandchildren, Connor, Logan, and Preston Brodsky, Ayla and Rachel Eskelson, as well as many other family and friends.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am - 11:30 am on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at Middletown Christian Church (500 N Watterson Trail, Louisville, KY 40243) with funeral service to begin at 11:30 am. There will be a private burial at Cave Hill Cemetery. Services in the care of Ratterman Brothers Funeral Home, East Louisville (12900 Shelbyville Road, Louisville, KY 40243).
