A person is dead after being hit by a vehicle Friday morning on Bardstown Road, a Louisville Metro Police spokesperson said.

The LMPD Traffic Unit responded to a call about a vehicle collision involving a pedestrian at approximately 1 a.m. in the 7700 Block of Bardstown Road, spokesperson John Bradley said.

Bradley said the person was crossing Bardstown Road, but not through the crosswalk, and was hit by a vehicle that was driving northbound.

The Jefferson County Coroner's Office identified the pedestrian as Miranda M. Carey, 30, a day after the crash.

The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene and Carey was pronounced dead, Bradley said.

The investigation is still ongoing.
