Drivers who travel on Interstate 264 could expect delays on Sunday as a part of the Watterson Expressway will close for LG&E to conduct electric work ahead of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet's widening project, according to a release.

The eastbound and westbound lanes of I-264 will be closed from the I-264 and Interstate 64 interchange to the I-264 and Interstate 71 interchange from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. The closure will "allow LG&E crews to work on overhead electric transmission and distribution lines near U.S. 42 (Brownsboro Road)."

Here are three detours, according to the release:

  • Those traveling southbound I-71 to westbound I-264: Take southbound Interstate 265, then westbound I-64 and reach westbound I-264.
  • Those traveling northbound I-71 to westbound I-264: Continue on northbound I-71, take southbound I-265 to westbound I-64 and reach westbound I-264.
  • Those traveling eastbound I-264 to northbound or southbound I-71: Take eastbound I-64, then northbound I-265 and reconnect with I-71.
