YANKTON COUNTY, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Autopsy results have been released in the case of a 22-year-old man whose body was found last month in the Missouri River after he had been reported missing.

On June 2, a Nebraska boater called authorities about finding a deceased person in the Missouri River along the South Dakota shoreline.

A short time later, the Yankton County Sheriff’s Office responded and located the deceased individual approximately a quarter mile to the east of the exit mouth of the James River.

Emergency responders safely recovered and secured the body.

The individual was identified as 22-year-old Phillip Snoozy of Yankton.

On June 3, an autopsy was completed on Snoozy’s body.

The autopsy report shows the cause of death was contributed to asphyxia due to drowning.

Alcohol and drugs were also present, according to the Yankton County Sheriff.

No foul play was suspected at the time of death.
