One dead following accident in eastern Sioux Falls

Authorities in Sioux Falls reported that a man had died after a single-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon.

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (Dakota News Now) - Authorities in Sioux Falls reported that a man had died after a single-vehicle accident on Friday afternoon.

Around 12:25 p.m., a 2005 Ford F-350 was traveling east on East 26th Street near Village Square Circle when the driver crossed the westbound lanes and struck a light pole and a tree.

The 63-year-old driver was taken to a hospital for injuries and was later pronounced dead.

The name of the driver has not been released.

The city said investigators are working to determine the identity of the deceased and the cause of the accident.

SFPD announced on social media that the westbound lanes near East 26th Street near Bahnson Avenue will be shut down as the investigation takes place and advised drivers to find an alternate route.
