Amazon's annual summer shopping event has ended for another year.

Aimed at Prime members, there were tonnes of deals and discounts on everything from the best noise-cancelling headphones to the best LEGO sets. If you're a gamer, it was a great opportunity to pick up some of the best gaming deals, too.

In 2024, Amazon Prime Day was spread over two days. It started on July 16 and ended on Wednesday, July 17. It's now become a firm fixture in the global retailer's calendar alongside its autumn, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day sales and, more recently, its Amazon Spring Deal Days event.

Amazon has its own deals hub, updated daily with a selection of offers from across its huge inventory (even outside of big shopping events like Prime Day, Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Boxing Day sales). During the event, anything that gets explicitly labelled as a Prime-exclusive deal on its product listing is available to Amazon Prime members only.

Some deals will be live for a short time after the event. Below, we've listed all the discounts that are still available to buy now the sale has ended, but many of the products aren't as cheap as they were.

When is Amazon Prime Day 2025?

Prime Day usually takes place in mid-July — except in 2020, when the event moved to October, and in 2021, when Prime Day took place in June. More often than not, Prime Day sticks to its original mid-July window.

The last Prime Day started on Tuesday, July 16 and ran until Wednesday, July 17, 2024.

Officially, Prime Day marks the anniversary of Amazon's inception. The company launched its US site in July 1995, and the first event with Prime Day branding took place on July 15, 2015, in nine countries.

Prime Day's global reach has expanded over time, with Prime Day events now taking place in over 20 countries.

How often is Amazon Prime Day?

Amazon Prime Day takes place once a year.

Prime Day isn't Amazon's only sale – there's Black Friday and Cyber Monday and, more recently, we've seen the Amazon Spring Sale in March and Amazon's Big Deal Days in October. In the UK, it also runs sales on or around Boxing Day, in line with many other retailers.

Amazon Prime Day and Amazon's Big Deal Days in the autumn offer exclusive discounts for anyone with a Prime membership, whereas Black Friday, Cyber Monday and the Spring Sale open up price drops to non-members too.

How long is Amazon Prime Day?

Since it started in 2015, the timeframe of Prime Day has been extended — first to a 30-hour event, then to 36 hours, then two full days.

Like Prime Day 2023 and 2024, we're expecting next year's event to last two days, but only time will tell. The event usually kicks off and ends at midnight.

What deals to expect on Amazon Prime Day

It's too early to predict which products will be discounted for Prime Day 2025 — but we can take some educated guesses based on what we've seen included in the past. There are usually discounts across tech, gaming, homeware, beauty, fashion and household essentials.

Ninja air fryer deals, electric toothbrush deals and cheap laptop deals have all been included in the past, along with occasional Apple device deals and Samsung device deals. Inevitably, there will also be huge price drops on Amazon's own-brand kit such as Fire tablets, Amazon Echo devices and Fire TV sticks.

How to sign up to Amazon Prime

As noted, Amazon Prime membership costs £8.99/month or £95/year in the UK and $14.99/month or $139/year in the US as of February 2024.

If you're a student, or aged between 18 and 22 years old, you can get an Amazon Prime Student membership at a preferential rate of £4.49/month or £47.49/year. You'll need to use your .ac.uk email address or provide proof of either enrolment at a university or your age, to sign up at this lower price or take up a free trial.

Amazon Prime is more than just the Prime Video streaming service, which is one of many benefits available to customers who take up full Prime membership. (Note that as of February 2024, subscribers will need to pay an additional £2.99 per person per month to watch Prime Video content without ads).

Customers who have never had an Amazon Prime subscription before can take up a free trial. In the UK, this is currently set at 30 days.

Some shoppers who haven't had a Prime membership or a free trial in 12 months or more may be eligible for another complimentary 30-day trial.

Amazon Prime benefits

Signing up for Amazon Prime has loads of benefits. Not only will you get exclusive Prime member discounts, but you'll also get early access to certain deals, unlimited one-day delivery and even same-day delivery.

To add to that, there's the Prime Video library with original TV series like The Boys, movies such as The Idea of You and Saltburn, Prime Reading, with around 3,000 books, magazines and audiobooks, plus Prime Gaming – including a rotating selection of free games and a monthly Twitch subscription.

The perks of full Prime membership also include discounts that vary by country (in the UK, these range from a one-year complimentary membership of Deliveroo Plus Silver to cheap ODEON cinema tickets). You've also got the option to save on a monthly membership of Amazon Music Unlimited.

Why trust Digital Spy's Editors

During the Prime Day sale, Digital Spy has been digging through Amazon to find the best deals on our favourite products.

Yasmine Crossland, DS's Tech Ecommerce Editor, has covered plenty of sales since she started her career, so she knows all the brands and products to look out for. Not all deals on the day are good deals, and she's well-versed in filtering out the phoney discounts. To add to that, she's got tonnes of tech knowledge and so will only recommend devices that are worth your money.
