It's okay. Bachelorette Jenn Tran didn't actually offer up her first impression rose to controversial former Bachelor Juan Pablo Galavis.
But according to a few freaked out Bachelor Nation fans, 27-year-old contractor Sam McKinney is a dead ringer for the onetime footballer.
"Omg I thought it was Juan Pablo," one viewer commented on Sam's Instagram introduction clip.
All Jenn saw, however, was her potential future husband.
“I just feel like there has been something there," she explained on the July 8 premiere of The Bachelorette while offering Sam her first impression rose (and that all-important first makeout). "I can’t stop thinking about you all night."
The 26-year-old student, who's studying to be a physician's assistant, acknowledged she's not always the best at judging if a guy is around for the right reasons. But, she added, "There is something in my gut that’s telling me there’s something here. And I’m really excited about it and I’m really excited to get to know you a lot more.”
Though, to hear New Jersey native Jenn tell it, the Myrtle Beach-based former football player—who counts riding motorcycles, golfing, and watching Sons of Anarchy as his hobbies—had some tough competition.
"I wanted to see all the gimmicks," she told E! News' Francesca Amiker of what she was looking for on that first night, "like, what were they going to come out of the limo with. So, every limo entrance, I feel like I was just getting more and more surprised. They were so thoughtful. And they put in so much effort."
Sam's game plan involved standard meet-cute fare, approaching his potential bride by telling her that he was "better now that I get to see you" and calling his sweet line a bit of "Southern charm."
Then he asked Jenn to picture her life 50 years in the future "waking up on a Saturday morning to me cooking breakfast" and proffering tipples for her beloved shot o'clock tradition.
Single just a year since breaking off an engagement with a woman he'd known since middle school (she cheated, he said "and there was just no repairing that relationship"), the self-described "total softie" has already been on quite the ride.
"I was in a motorcycle accident, one that should have killed me," he revealed during The Bachelorette season 21 premiere, "and I walked away without a scratch, so any opportunity that I get, I'm taking it head on."
That includes starting his journey with Jenn.
"My dream is to find a girl that I could raise a family with," he explained of signing on to the series for the right reasons.
Though there are certainly hints that their pairing could be among the most dramatic ever.
In the season's supertease, a few of the guys labeled Sam as "conniving" and "calculated" with Jenn herself seeming to question his intentions.
And discussing his time on the franchise, Sam—whose Bachelorette bio touts his homeschooled upbringing and a recent gig as the officiant at his sister's wedding—told his nearly 6,000 Instagram followers, "Hold on tight cause this ride is fixing to be WILD."
So while we wait to see if the devoted dog dad will also score Jenn's final rose, let's cheers to all the franchise couples that came before—both those continuing their journey and the many, many duos who watched the bloom come off the rose.
