Marvel's The Sinister Six

The Sinister Six: Drew Goddard (The Cabin in the Woods), who wrote the script for the villainous Spider-Man spin-off The Sinister Six, is close to a deal to direct the movie as well. That's not a big surprise, since he was tipped as a possible director back in December when it was announced that he would be writing the screenplay. Goddard is also writing and directing the Daredevil TV series that will stream on Netflix. The Sinister Six is due to come out after The Amazing Spider-Man 3, which is scheduled for release on June 10, 2016. [Deadline]

Battlestar Galactica

Battlestar Galactica: Here we go again. The series Battlestar Galactica originally ran on broadcast TV back in the late 1970s before being reimagined by Ronald D. Moore -- in splendid fashion -- for basic cable in 2003. A big-screen version has been bandied about for years, with Bryan Singer evidently attached as director. Now comes word that Universal has hired Jack Paglen (Transcendence) to write "a complete reimagining of the story" -- and no mention of Singer. [Variety]

Guardians of the Galaxy

Guardians of the Galaxy Clip: Director James Gunn shared a photo from behind the scenes of Guardians of the Galaxy, with Zoe Saldana and Karen Gillan rehearsing for an extended fight scene. The first clip from the movie has also been revealed; it showcases "legendary outlaw" Star-Lord (Chris Pratt) as he is confronted by an enemy (Djimon Hounsou), and then whizzes through about a zillion more action shots. The movie explodes in theaters on August 1. [MTV]
