Less than a year ago Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire (a title she was given by the Queen in 2003) Helen Mirren confessed she desperately wanted to be in a Fast and Furious movie, telling Yahoo! Movies "I so want to be a mad driver in a Fast and Furious movie. My claim to fame is I always do my own driving — I was on Top Gear, and I did [my lap] in a very good time. I keep putting it out there, and they never ask me."

Well, what Helen Mirren wants, Helen Mirren gets. She is indeed going to be in Fast 8. The Academy Award-winning actress (pictured above in RED 2) broke the news in an interview with Elle, and she did so as if it was no big deal:

"I want to be making film and theater, but film is particularly relevant. I like it to be serious. Of course, having said that I'm about to do Fast and Furious 8. But that's for the fun of it."

Mirren goes on to say that she only told them she'd do it if she got to drive a car, but she stops short of confirming that she'll actually get behind the wheel. That could mean there's no reason for her character to drive anything, or it could simply mean the insurance company won't let her drive a ridiculously fast car on her own. Either way, Mirren is in Fast 8, which is kind of amazing.
