Anticipation for the 24th James Bond thriller is through the roof. We’ve got the intel on ‘SPECTRE''s cast, locations, and a few added secrets. For your eyes only, of course.
Craig, Daniel Craig.
‘SPECTRE’ marks the actor’s fourth outing as James Bond. Will it also be his last? No one is saying, though there are hints that the four Craig-starring Bond movies tell a cohesive story, one that paves the way for a new actor to take over the role.
Oberhauser (Christoph Waltz)
The Oscar-winning Austrian plays the appropriately shadowy Franz Oberhauser, a bigwig in the evil SPECTRE organization. Will SPECTRE dominate future Bond films after a 32-year absence from the franchise? Only time will tell.
Madeleine Swann (Léa Seydoux)
There may be truth to those rumors that ‘SPECTRE’ completes a four-movie arc: Seydoux’s character, Dr. Madeleine Swann, is the daughter of the elusive Mr. White, whom you’ll remember from ‘Casino Royale’ (2006) and ‘Quantum of Solace’ (2008).
Lucia (Monica Bellucci)
Playing the widow of a Bond adversary, the Italian actress is the first woman over 50 to play one of James Bond’s paramours. (Bellucci is four years older than Daniel Craig.) We say, who cares? She’s amazing at any age.
Estrella (Stephanie Sigman)
Like all 007 installments, ‘SPECTRE’ opens with a jaw-dropping set piece in an exotic locale, in this case Mexico City on the Day of the Dead. Here Daniel Craig and Mexican actress Sigman track a SPECTRE terrorist.
Hinx (Dave Bautista)
The wrestler turned actor (2014’s ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’) plays Mr. Hinx, technically a high-ranking member of SPECTRE, but an archetypal Bond thug if ever we’ve seen one. Count on lots of mayhem whenever he’s around.
To Rome with Love
What’s a James Bond film without a little globetrotting? Bond and Hinx take to the streets of Rome not just to show off their fancy cars – and yes, 007 is driving an Aston-Martin – but also to kill each other.
Deserted in the Desert
Morocco serves as another ‘SPECTRE’ setting. Here, Daniel Craig and Léa Seydoux seem a bit overdressed for the brutal desert climate. We won’t reveal why they’re in northern Africa, but it does lead to a key scene in the movie.
A Snowbound Bond
If that last photo was making you feel a bit hot, cool down with this wintery shot of James Bond doing what he does best in the Austrian Alps. What enemy is 007 facing off against this time? Here’s a hint: it rhymes with “hector.”
M (Ralph Fiennes)
Following the death of his predecessor (Judi Dench), who sets ‘SPECTRE’s story in motion from beyond the grave, this new M finds himself in a power struggle with his boss. M has a boss, you say? We’ll reveal more at the end of this gallery.
Moneypenny (Naomie Harris)
We were so happy to see Harris cast as Eve Moneypenny in ‘Skyfall.’ The franchise just isn’t complete without M’s witty assistant. Thankfully, this Miss Moneypenny is a bit more proactive than the flirty secretaries of Bond films past.
Q (Ben Whishaw)
Rounding out the MI6 home team – even though “home” was mostly destroyed in ‘Skyfall’ – is Q, now more focused on cyber security than on clever gadgets. “Q,” by the way, is short for “quartermaster,” the officer in charge of supplies.
C (Andrew Scott)
C is head of Britain’s Joint Intelligence Service – and M’s new boss. As he’s played by Irish actor Andrew Scott, who was so memorable as the psychotic Moriarty in the BBC’s ‘Sherlock’ series, we suspect the “C” doesn’t stand for “cool.”
