A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead - Saber

The folks at Saber Interactive have pulled the curtain back on their upcoming video game set in the A Quiet Place universe with a brand new, creepy teaser trailer. The game was first announced in 2021 shortly after A Quiet Place Part II came out. Now, we know it will be called A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead, with the game arriving for both console and PC later this year after A Quiet Place: Day One arrives in theaters. Check it out.

The game not only looks pretty good but it also looks to be very much in the spirit of the films themselves. It’s not some shoot-em-up game that wouldn’t make any sense in this universe. The whole point is that you have to be quiet and not draw attention to yourself while surviving, accomplishing tasks and navigating the world. It may not be for those who dislike stealth missions in games but if that’s not a turn off, this appears to be worth putting on one’s radar. To my eye, it has some Blair Witch video game vibes, which I would classify as a good thing.

Notably, this is a single-player game, which bucks recent trends in franchise-based horror games. The likes of Evil Dead: The Game, The Texas Chain Saw Massacre and, more recently, Killer Klowns from Outer Space: The Game, have all been online multiplayer experiences. So, for those who are more into a story-driven, solo experience, voila. In the game, you play as a young survivor trying to navigate this new, alien-infested, post-apocalyptic landscape. Players will be able to carve their  own path through the world by observing the environment and leveraging the tools found in the surroundings. Saber’s official description of The Road Ahead reads as follows:

“Capturing the frantic terror, unnerving atmosphere and gripping human drama that made the franchise famous, A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead is designed for fans of the films, horror games, and story-driven adventures alike. Experience the journey of a young woman struggling to endure not only the nightmarish creatures of the apocalypse, but also the anguish of interpersonal family conflicts and her own inner fears. With nothing more than your wits and the simple tools you can scavenge, you’ll have to overcome the many treacherous challenges and obstacles that lay ahead, all while trying to survive an ever-present threat of the unknown enemies. Just don’t make a sound…”

Stormind Games, of Remothered fame, is developing the Quiet Place game for Saber Interactive. Saber has been busy as of late, particularly in the IP space. The company is also working on the much-anticipated Jurassic Park: Survival, which is also going to tell an original, single-player story in that universe

A Quiet Place: The Road Ahead arrives later this year for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. For more, be sure to check out our rundown of five quick horror games you can play right now
