Melissa Barrera (Scream, Abigail) has today shared a brand new Beauty and the Beast-themed poster for horror-romance Your Monster from director Caroline Lindy following the film’s premiere at Sundance earlier this year.
The poster tells us that Vertical will release Your Monster only in theaters October 25, 2024 – just in time for Halloween.
Also starring Tommy Dewey, Meghann Fahy, Edmund Donovan and Kayla Foster and produced by include Kayla Foster, Shannon Reilly, Melanie Donkers, and Kira Carstensen, Your Monster follows:
Laura Franco (Barrera) is a young actress enduring a cancer diagnosis and upsetting relationship breakup when she discovers a terrifying, yet weirdly charming Monster (Dewey) living in her closet.
Following Sundance, Your Monster played at Sundance London, where it won Audience Favorite Award.
Your Monster is based on Lindy’s 2019 short of the same name.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Barrera spoke about how Your Monster gave her the chance to flex her comedy chops:
I missed doing comedy! I hadn’t had the opportunity to do it since I’d left Mexico. And then Caroline [Lindy] came along with this film. What I would get a lot in the industry is, “We haven’t seen her be funny.” So, people don’t even give you the chance. But Caroline was like, “I know you’re funny. I just do.” And I was like, “Well, thank you for that. Let’s do this!” And honestly, it was the most fun I’d ever had on set. There was so much laughter. The gag reel is going to be amazing.
