Wimbledon 2024 Quarterfinals Preview, Tennis Odds And Picks

Following

Grand Slam tennis continues with the quarterfinals at the All England Club and Wimbledon. A pair of American’s have made it through in the men’s bracket. Defending Wimbledon champion and No. 3 seed Carlos Alcaraz will take on American No. 12 seed Tommy Paul on Tuesday. In the other side of the bracket, fellow American Taylor Fritz (No. 13) is favored over No. 25 Lorenzo Musetti when they take center court on Wednesday, July 10.

The last time two American’s reach the quarterfinals at Wimbledon was in 2000.

“This is by far the biggest win of his career and it sets up an opportunity [where it's] the first time he’s playing in the quarterfinals where he’s a big favorite,” ESPN’s Brad Gilbert said of Fritz.

The top-2 seeds in the men’s tournament remain and No. 1 Jannik Sinner is a big favorite over No. 5 Daniil Medvedev in the opening match Tuesday. The winner plays the winner of Alcaraz/Paul.

Seven-time Wimbledon champion and No. 3 seed Novak Djokovic takes on No. 9 Alex De Minaur Wednesday with the winner playing the Musetti/Paul winner.

Sinner entered Wimbledon as the new No. 1 player in the world for the first time in his career having won four tournaments already this year including the Australian Open in January. He entered Wimbledon with a record of 38-3 this calendar year. Sinner reached the Wimbledon quarterfinals in 2022 and semifinals in 2023 before losing to Novak Djokovic.

Carlos Alcaraz is just 21 year’s old, and he beat Sinner in a 5-set, four-hour marathon in this year’s French Open on his way to winning the title. Alcaraz had a 17-3 career grass record entering Wimbledon, and is staring at a rematch with Sinner again in the Wimbledon semifinals.

A look at the early opening odds of the gentleman’s top contenders at Wimbledon showed Sinner (+175), Alcatraz (+210) and Djokovic (+420) the three clear favorites and top contenders to win at the All England Club. The adjusted odds remain tight for the three top players.

Men’s Adjusted Odds To Win Wimbledon

  • +160: Sinner
  • +220: Novak Djokovic
  • +260: Carlos Alcaraz
  • +1200: Taylor Fritz
  • +2700: Alex De Minaur
  • +3100: Tommy Paul
  • +3800: Daniil Medvedev
  • +5000: Lorenzo Musetti

The Ladie’s top contenders and per-tournament favorites have been eliminated with women’s No. 1 Iga Swiatek beaten in the third round. So was defending Wimbledon champion Marketa Vondrousova and No. 2 seed American Coco Gauff, the reigning U.S. Open champion who was beaten in the fourth round by fellow American Emma Navarro.

The Ladie’s side will have a new Wimbledon champion for the 7th year in a row.
