MEMPHIS, Tenn. - A "beloved" White Station High ninth-grader died from a medical emergency while at school Monday, according to Memphis-Shelby County Schools (MSCS).

Paramedics and school resource officers provided "immediate" medical attention on Kingston Davidson but "tragically his life could not be saved," MSCS said in a statement.

"He was a well-loved member of the White Station High School community," MSCS said.

In a statement, school district officials said that he was a loving son and brother who was "a well-loved member of the White Station High School community."

His parents told MSCS that they named him Kingston "because they wanted him to have a strong name," adding that "he played football, loved math and fashion, and was already set on his career path of being an entrepreneur."

MSCS said that Kingston cut yards for family and friends as part of his lawn mowing business.

"To his little sister, he was her favorite math tutor," MSCS said in a statement. "He also loved to stand in her full-length mirror every morning and 'check out his fit.' He will be deeply missed by his classmates, school administrators and teachers."

MSCS said it is providing counseling to all students and staff members affected by Kingston's death.
