Euro 2024 Golden Boot tracker: Harry Kane, Dani Olmo among six co-winners
The 2024 UEFA European Championship is in the books, with an unprecedented six-way tie for the Golden Boot!
While there were plenty of goals throughout the tournament, nobody separated themselves atop the leaderboard. Instead, six players finished with three goals in the tournament, including midfielder Dani Olmo of newly minted champion Spain and runner-up England's star striker Harry Kane.
UEFA has decided to award all six players a share of the Golden Boot award, a marked change from past years when the federation used tiebreakers when multiple players would finish atop the leaderboard with the same number of goals.
For instance, Portugal's Cristiano Ronaldo won the Golden Boot in 2020 with five goals. Patrik Schick of the Czech Republic also scored five goals, but Ronaldo had an assist, which is the first tiebreaker — followed by the fewest minutes played — for the highly coveted award.
