For as long as we can remember, Demi Moore's signature has been her raven, waist-skimming strands. Any deviation from this look has been the merest whisper of a wave in an otherwise poker-straight ‘do. It’s a hairstyle that has not only defied time but also made mermaid hair chic before it became a mainstream trend.

Demi dabbled with shorter crops at the start of her career – most notably when she shaved off all her hair for Ridley Scott’s 1997 film G.I. Jane. A cheekbone-hugging bob and tousled pixie also made the cut around the same time.

But now the star has changed gears completely, joining a raft of other '90s stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Julia Roberts and Courteney Cox, all of whom have recently lopped off their long hair in favour of a dramatically shorter style.

On July 10, 2024, Demi took to Instagram with a carousel of photos from her upcoming Paramount+ show, Landman. "Meet Cami Miller. First look at @landmanpplus - premiering November 17 on @paramountplus!" she wrote in the caption.

In a major shift, you can see that Demi Moore has traded her super long hair for a collarbone-grazing bob – a.k.a a lob – that swoops into a deep side part and makes a highlight of her chiselled cheekbones.

The series is based in West Texas, so it's perhaps unsurprising that Demi has reinvigorated the ‘Texan hair’ trend popularised by Beyoncé earlier this year at the Super Bowl. Demi's new lob is characterised by plenty of volume throughout, with an extreme root lift and big, bouncy, brushed-out waves.

But of course, what makes Demi's new lob all the more headline-grabbing is that it is the antithesis of her normally sleek, wispy, minimalist hair look.

Alas, it's likely that Demi's new hair is, in fact, a wig. But given the amount of fan love her new hairstyle is receiving on social media, Demi Moore may be about to launch into her bob era for real. Watch this space.
