Our fave hair brands are always busy innovating, but the new GHD Duet Blowdry promises a bouncy blow dry, in faster time, and all in one tool. The styler's revolutionary 2-in-1 hair dryer brush can take hair all the way from wet, to styled, without creating damage – which means you can move from shower fresh hair to a salon-worthy blow dry in no time.

It follows hot on the heels of the brand's OG Duet hot air styler (which launched last year and dries and straightens hair in one go), only this time, it offers more oomph and bounce.

The new tool taps up Heat-Air Xchange Technology, which converts energy from the air to heat the barrel (and specially designed tangle-proof plastic bristles) at an optimal low temperature to avoid overheating delicate hair. Essentially, it blends air flow and heat to keep things gentle. As for results, it promises three times more volume, and 50% more shine, so obviously we wanted to see for ourselves.

Our team managed to get our hands on the GHD Duet Blowdry before it launches (today). Here's what we thought when we put it to the test…

GHD Duet Blowdry

I am lazyyyy when it comes to styling my hair. So far I've hacked my routine down to rough-drying my hair with a blow dryer, then tying it up in a ponytail and sectioning it from there to curl with a tong. Once back down I just finish off the face-framing sections, so it's a speedy process. I have been admiring the big, bouncy blow drys all over TikTok though so I was so excited to try a tool that could give me oomph and volume, but quickly.

This was easy enough to use, even for a beginner like me, to create a smooth, sleek shape. I sectioned my hair into two halves and slowly brushed through the bottom section to dry, then repeated again, rolling the brush to add a little more of a flicky shape. Then I repeated on the top section.

I still need a bit more practice to coax all the volume, but for a first go, I was really impressed. I had ready-to-go-out hair in 20 minutes.

The GHD blowdry brush is incredible — an easy one-flick tool that took my hair from soaking wet to salon-sleek in literally less than two minutes. It was super easy to use and left my hair feeling soft and flowy. I wasn’t sure what to expect since the original 2-in-1 Duet styler wasn’t my favourite to use, but this upgrade with a brush to comb through feels like a hit for my afro hair. It literally went from curly to super smooth in no time.

I didn't expect this much shine from it either, so I was pleasantly surprised. A usual blowdry leaves my hair needing an extra coat of something to make it look finished or shiny, but this felt ready to go after just a few brush-throughs — definitely a new hair staple for me.

Overall, the product really blew me away with how fast and simple it is, and how salon-ready the results are. The brush is pretty big, which is great because it adds a ton of volume and cuts down the drying time, allowing for slightly larger sections. It left my hair frizz-free and super smooth, which usually requires a certain product combo to achieve.

I have long, thick hair so I’ve always struggled with hair tools. In fact, I often skip them altogether, since using one can triple the time in my usual routine. When I got word that the new GHD tool is designed to cut down drying and styling time, I was very excited.

Coming in the form of an ordinary hot air brush, this innovative tool helped me achieve a bouncy blowout, from 70% damp hair, in less than 15 minutes – which is definitely a win considering that it usually takes me 15 minutes to dry, plus 10 minutes to roughly style it every time. The tool was easy enough to manoeuvre and very intuitive to use. It did require a few additional passes for sections that were more damp than the others, but considering the overall time that it saved, I can't complain. That being said, I’d say that for those that aren’t as experienced with hot air brushes, it might take some practice to nail down all the potential ways to style your hair, but trust me when I tell you that in the end, it will be well worth the fuss.

As someone with thick, textured, curly hair that's prone to frizz, I was doubtful that this product would work for me – but I was blown away by the ease at which it glided through my hair. I'm trying not to use too much heat on my hair, so have been avoiding blow drying regularly, but the GHD Duet Blow Dry stayed at a lower temperature while still getting the job done, which was amazing. It dried and detangled my hair super fast, so I wasn't sitting around for hours drying it, which is usually one of the most tedious parts of doing my hair.

My hair felt super soft, smooth and silky afterwards and I was left with so much volume. I don't think I’ve ever seen my hair with so much body. The brush does have a little learning slope, so if you're not used to using round brushes, it does take a bit of getting used to – but first time users or beginners can definitely use it. If you have thick and curly hair like me, you'll have to spend a bit more time with the brush and dry smaller sections if you want a smoother and less voluminous result – or if you are preparing for a silk press. But no matter your goal it definitely gets the job done.

As a usual Revlon brush user I was excited to see how the new GHD offering would compare. It was quick to dry my hair from towel-dried, however it was hard to dry the roots completely, so I would recommend a quick blow dry beforehand to reduce frizz. I managed to finish all my hair in 15 minutes, which is a lot quicker than drying and styling separately. I would say it allowed me to create a quick and easy blow out, while straightening my hair effectively. The GHD brush easily creates volume in the roots and a curled shape through the lengths. The round brush also means you can style your hair many ways. My hair held its shape overnight and still looked freshly blow-dried. However, the end of the brush has hard, plastic bristles rather than soft brush bristles, making it heavier and hotter. Overall though, I would definitely use it again.
