Amy Adams is set to star in much-anticipated movie Nightbitch, with the absolutely legendary tagline: “motherhood is a b*tch”.
Adapted from the novel by Rachel Noder – as well as being adapted for screen and directed by Marielle Heller – the project not only tells a very female-oriented story, but the entire producing team is made up of women. We love to see it.
Amy plays the protagonist, whose maternal instinct begin to manifest in canine form. Marielle has spoken out about how the story made her “feel seen”.
It's directed by Gia Coppola, with Jamie Lee Curtis and Kiernan Shipka also starring.
“Rachel Yoder’s book took my breath away. I haven’t felt this way about [a] book since I read The Diary of a Teenage Girl many years ago,” director Marielle Heller said in a statement. “Rachel’s darkly hilarious tale of motherhood and rage made me feel seen."
Here's everything we know so far about Amy Adam's upcoming film Nightbitch – including our take on a very exciting batch of first look pics.

Nightbitch first look pictures
We've got a great taster of what to expect from Nightbitch after Vanity Fair dropped some first look pictures.
Amy Adams couldn't be more perfect for this role, as we see the maternal and more feral instincts of her character in these previews – including more than one picture of her hanging out with some cute-looking dogs, no doubt picking up on their energy.
The first look also shows Amy's character looking pretty isolated… we can't wait to delve into her psyche when the film comes out.

Nightbitch plot
The film's official synopsis reads: “Nightbitch tells the story of a woman thrown into the stay-at-home routine of raising a toddler in the suburbs, who slowly embraces the feral power deeply rooted in motherhood, as she becomes increasingly aware of the bizarre and undeniable signs that she may be turning into a canine.”
It's such a clever premise, leaning into the animalistic instincts and isolation that come with motherhood – we can't wait to see Amy tackle this.
Nightbitch cast
Starring alongside Amy will be Zoe Chao (Love Life), Mary Holland, Scoot McNairy, Jessica Harper, Kerry O'Malley and Ella Thomas.
Nightbitch release date
While the film is due to be released in US cinemas on 6 December, there hasn't been confirmation Nightbitch will drop in UK cinemas on the same date – but we think it is likely, and are hoping so!
