Best HM New In Pieces We're Buying This Summer

Whilst I love the wearable neutrals, every wardrobe needs a bit of print – and florals were, of course, on every catwalk once again. This year we saw florals in the form of feminine appliqué embellishments from Simone Rocha and Loewe, whilst Burberry made a statement with loud colours. H&M make it so easy to shop the trend with lots of floral styles whether you like a ditsy print like on this tie-detail dress, or something a little more abstract seen on this flared mini dress.

Itching for a summer update? Welcome to my H&M dressing room diary.

The Drop-Hem Summer Dress:

Bandeau Dress

We're about to see a lot of drop-hem dresses this summer, and I'm obsessed with this bandeau style I tried on. The contrasting monotone stripes give it a much more expensive feel than its high-street price tag.

The Basket Bag:

Straw Shoulder Bag

And, of course, I had to pair it with a straw bag. This pick is just the right amount of practical. It zips shut so you don't have to worry about a lip gloss slipping out and fits over your shoulder so it's easy to carry. The straw detail and sleek black strap elevate this classic everyday bag.

The Bubble Dress:

Smocked Off-The-Shoulder Dress

If you're a fan of premium brand Farm Rio you'll love this smocked mini dress. The print makes a statement without being overbearing. Dress it up with strappy heels or keep it casual with trainers and a denim jacket. So much more versatile than it seems at first glance.

The Maxi Skirt:

Circular Poplin Skirt

I've been scouring stores for the right white summer maxi skirt and I might be sold on this one. If you want something a little bit different to the tiered broderie anglaise designs all over Pinterest, this feels like a grown-up option. Simple, but so chic.

The Graphic Tee:

Print-Motif T-Shirt

Need a hack for adding a pop of colour to your outfits? Try switching up a white tee for a printed one. The easiest way to wear is with linen or denim but I love to throw a print into the mix. Size up if you like an oversized look.

The Jersey Shorts:

Jersey Shorts

As mentioned, I love a print. These striped shorts would look great with a plain white tee, but equally I'd love to wear with a contrasting printed top, or thrown over a bright bikini on the beach. This is definitely a pair of shorts you can wear again and again.

The White Maxi:

Tie-Detail Throw-On Dress

It's giving Sleeper, on a budget! The pyjamas for outwear vibe isn't for everyone, I get it, and this feels very nightdress coded. But there's something about the soft silhouette and that dainty floral print that I can't stop thinking about.

The Floral Dress:

Smock-Topped Dress

H&M really said ‘smocking is in!’, and I'm here for it. This smock-topped midi dress comes in a few different prints. You can't go wrong with a pretty floral but I also love their lemon print iteration.

The Mini Dress:

Smocked Bodycon Dress

Ideal for summer in the city or further afield, this bodycon dress is made more flattering thanks to the smocked finish. The shape alongside the tie detail strike the right balance between pretty and cool.

The Upgraded White T-Shirt:

Smocked Top

If your white T-shirts are ready for an update, this cottagecore-style smocked top is an easy swap in. It's so pretty but comfortable too, making it an elevated piece you'll really want to reach for.

The Pull-On Shorts:

Denim Pull-On Shorts

I love H&M's spin on the summer staple denim shorts with these loose cotton ones. Truly a wear-with-anything piece.

The Cap:

Cotton Twill Cap

I never used to think I could pull off a cap, but now I love throwing one into the summer accessory rotation. They aren't just for athleisure of sports-luxe outfits, try adding one to a more feminine look. Be quick though – this is definitely going to sell out.

The Wedding Guest Dress:

Flared-Skirt Bandeau Dress

If you're unsure on pattern, something anchored in darker tones is a good place to start. The black balances out the the brighter splashes of colour on this bandeau mini dress. If a bandeau style isn't for you, this also comes with detachable straps. It'd make the perfect summer wedding guest dress.
