I watched Rye Lane. It was funny, sincere and uplifting. The cast is infectious and esp Vivian Oparah.
Great debut film for Raine Allen-Miller and she did it with less than 4mil.
    Would watch it again.

    DNA (2020), Maiwenn

Politically complex, poignant and incredibly witty. Touches of Rachel Getting Married. Love Fanny Ardant.
    Underseen gem.

Watched A Quiet Place PT 1 and 2 today, rewatched the first and watched the second for the first time

The first is a classic, it aged beautifully and Blunts SAG win might be the most inspired pick ever. 9/10

The second misses a lot of what makes the first great, it isn’t as quiet and intriguing as the first and I’m sorry but Murphy did not do it for me. Still had the heart of the first and it’s a 8/10 with great performances.

It's all about the 3x Best Drama Series winner Succession!

Les hommes de ma mere; Anik Jean

Beautiful film from French Canada. Been done before, but has ingenuity and great perfs.
Different personalities celebrating those they loved and lost, but never really lost.

    Maxxine, Ti West

Wraps it up? Nasty, gory, super violent conclusion(?) with another stellar perf from Mia Goth. Great ensemble, in fact.

    B+

    Inside Out 2, Kelsey Mann

Not convinced it’s the kids watching this film with the most enjoyment

    Longlegs, Oz Perkins

I watched this with a dear friend and I’m compelled to mention her because she was so agitated by the film she kept tugging at me to please let’s leave!
Lol. Sweetheart, I love you but I’m just as terrified and I’m not leaving.
A well shot, beautifully crafted film. So happy for Nic Cage, who’s fully back.
    Eerie, creepy, scarey, artsy, haunting.

    A

    Twisters, Lee Isaac Chung

    Great techs, convincing ensemble.
A bit contrived, it doesn’t invent the wheel. Nonetheless it was entertaining and it’ll likely show up at Oscar for Vx and Sound, at least.

    B+

    The Sunne in Splendour.

    Faye, Laurent Bouzereau
This doc becomes more and more interesting. She’s not that far from Diana Christensen. And seeing those clips from her remarkable filmography!
    Recommended.
    A

    Hit Man, Richard Linklater
Not one of my favorite Linklater films, although Glen Powell held my interest.
Overall it falls on the flat side, with an intriguing beginning and a failed ending.
    B-
    Next up, Horizon, chapter 1.

    The Sunne in Splendour.
