This thread will be to discuss possibly the most high profile EDM release of 2024 from tech house producer John Summit, hot off performances at Madison Square Garden, EDC Las Vegas & Coachella. The 12-track debut album will release on July 12th, and will feature his two stadium anthem collaborations with vocalist Hayla, “Where You Are” and “Shiver.” 3 other singles have been released, “Eat the Bass,” and two collaborations featuring vocalist Julia Church “Go Back” with Sub Focus and “Resonate” with Kaskade.

Expect John Summit to be submitted for consideration as Best New Artist, Best Dance/Electronic Album, Best Dance/Electronic Recording and Best Dance Pop Recording. It’s possible that he submits the lead single, “Shiver”, as ROTY and SOTY. Not an album track, but his remix of Temper Trap’s “Sweet Disposition” could also be submitted.

    “Where You Are (featuring Hayla)”

    “Shiver (featuring Hayla)”

    “Eat the Bass”

“Go Back (featuring Julia Church” with Sub Focus

“Resonate (featuring Julia Church)” with Kaskade

Worth mentioning that “Where You Are”, released in Spring 2023, was certified as Gold last month by the RIAA.

Snubbed for a Grammy, yet a bigger hit than last ceremony’s nominated songs in the Electronic category (no disrespect to Skrillex & Fred again, just saying this snub was wildly out of touch.)

He did an interview with Grammy.com for his debut album

Finding ‘Comfort In Chaos’: John Summit On The Journey To His Debut Album

“I always wanted to do an album,” the DJ/producer says of ‘Comfort in Chaos.’ Although Summit has graced many major stages, creating his full-length debut took “over 10 years of producing and eight years of releasing music to get confident enough.”

The positioning of the new song “Tears” featuring Paige Cavell at the front of the album’s track listing suggests it will be the new single. I am expecting this song, based on the clip released on YouTube & Instagram, will be Summit’s Dance Pop submission

“Gold Derby, how the fuck we feeling, baby?”

Comfort in Chaos is officially out! What are everyone’s thoughts?

In my opinion, this is firmly one of the best Dance albums of 2024. What shocks me the most is how the songs we’ve already heard perfectly gel with the rest of the album. It’s expertly curated, and John Summit’s sound is very prominent. That’s a trait that can’t be understated, many EDM vets often get lost in genre-hopping, often losing their personal touch. This should be a lock for a Dance Electronic Album nomination.

There’s so many great tracks, I genuinely don’t know what he should submit as Dance Electronic recording. “Tears” feels like his next single, so that’d be obvious, but I think going with a traditional club song like “Eat the Bass” is a good candidate, or perhaps ride the name recognition of 8-time nominee Kaskade & submit “Resonate.” The Elderbrook collaboration “Give Me Anything” is a standout as well.

“Shiver” is the obvious Dance Pop contender. It’s the most standard verse-chorus-verse song. That’s a good contender to take the Calvin Harris “Miracle” slot in that category.
