Gonna predict as many Bear and Hacks actors as possible. I think guest acting categories will see actors nominated only from those shows.

SNL is usually reliable for a guest nomination or two. I’m fairly sure it will show up somewhere in guest just a question of which host.

I think Gosling and Rudolph are in with Wiig on the bubble.

I wish Andrea Martin was more in the guest conversation for Only Murders. She totally deserves and was actually comedic in her performance.

June 29, 2024 at 12:00 pm #1205874474So I read an article that said the 2% rule is also back? Supporting Actress will see 6 women nominated given how many are eligible but if nominee number 6 and 7 fall within the 2% rule nominee number 7 will be nominated too right? Cuz frankly Supporting Actress is one category that’s almost impossible to end up with just 6 nominees.

I heard someone infer this on a podcast but I’d need to check the rules – I will when I’m on my laptop. I like the 2% rule honestly.
And yeah, 2% role gave an additional spot to someone very close. From memory I am pretty sure the Supporting Actor Drama went to 2% in 2019.

June 29, 2024 at 4:26 pm #1205874592I have seen nothing about the 2% rule being back and nowhere do the Emmy changes this year say it is either.
A Negroni. Sbagliato. With Prosecco in it.

July 9, 2024 at 1:44 pm #1205881251COMEDY SUPPORTING ACTRESS
1. Hannah Einbinder – Locked, loaded and likely winning.
—————-
2. Liza Colon-Zayas – Despite Elliot’s Globe nom, I have Liza ahead as I think she would have strongly contended last year too had she been on the ballot. It’s such a subtle yet memorable performance. I’m predicting The Bear for basically everything (shock) so she had to be in. Could win if it sweeps again.
3. Abby Elliot – Despite having her lower, I’m still sure she’s getting in. The Bear is going to do well.
4. Sheryl Lee Ralph – Previous winner and there hasn’t been such an influx of new contenders that she would be at threat. Abbott still popular even if unlikely to contend for the win anywhere (which can sometimes be a warning sign).
—————-
5. Molly Gordon – As mentioned, I’m just going all in on The Bear. She does have guest star vibes which could hold her back from being perceived in the same way as her co-stars. But this is the same group that went all in on Succession and White Lotus exclusively in one category last year so I don’t see them being so discerning about who to check off and who to leave out from a show they like.
6. Meryl Streep – Kinda wanna do with her what I did with Jonathan Bailey. The only thing that really puts her at risk is the amount of time that has passed since the season aired. But voters will have watched it! And she was great! So yes, whilst I do think she falls into that area of being so rewarded that people won’t go out of their way to include her if they aren’t sure, I’m betting that just enough voters will be passionate to include her.
—————-
7. Janelle James – I grow more confident in this with each passing day. The Bear is maxing out, it just is. So it’s either Streep or James and the former doesn’t have a more popular co-star to contend with. I spoke about it a few weeks ago but James is also the *exact* kind of contender that drops off for the later seasons of a show that was once big. As mentioned previously also, we’re all either saying Abbott is getting the same noms as it did last year or it’s losing someone and James is by far the most likely to drop off from those nommed last year.
8. Meg Stalter – I was lowkey tempted to put her above James and could see it actually just being her instead of Streep (or Gordon). Hacks had a great season and does surprisingly well in the ratings. Guest categories for season two showed how much actors love it. Stalter got very unlucky with the drop to six slots as I’m leaning towards there being one too many heavyweights for her to get past. Will keep mulling though as it’s a memorable role and you almost forget she has internal competition because of how locked Einbinder is.
—————-
I promise I’m not being lazy when I say I’m stopping there. I just feel so confident that the six is coming from those eight (which inevitably means it won’t). If I had to list some more I would probably entertain the possibility that Palm Royale actually has been seen (Carol Burnett would be the first to get in if so) or that Lisa Ann Walter even gets in over James (better ballot placement and season) or even that Kaya Scodelario rides huge ratings to a nom. But honestly why waste the words.
