The difference though is Coughlan is an original cast member.
who will likely be irrelevant going forward, based on the previous leads. Also in the books she does zero to the plot after her book.
No, there aren’t many examples of ppl who were on the sidelines, then led, then were ordained to be sidelined or off for the rest of the show. That structure is super common for romance novel series, not so much for tv shows

Sure, but casual viewers don’t necessarily clock that, and my point is more that she’s had a couple of seasons of goodwill prior.
That said, i think there are a couple of things to keep in mind: Coughlan is someone where it’s very possible the English language hype online is not particularly US skewed.
She also has a sizeable young fanbase (despite being 37) I think that may not be necessarily reflected in voters (the fact she did a Teen Vogue cover -Vogue are extremely across their marketing – says a lot)

I don’t believe them but it does feel like this season is attracting more talk than season 3.
It's all about the 3x Best Drama Series winner Succession!
June 20, 2024 at 1:37 pm #1205867576Tired of this kind of take
If you want an Emmy so bad then just play the game and release it in a decent schedule for it to be able to have any chance. It’s simple.

June 20, 2024 at 1:53 pm #1205867586I think people overestimate how much say the crew of a show has in any sort of programming or marketing decisions.
FYC: Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”)

And that three second performance would be more worthy than half of the eventual nomineses.

June 20, 2024 at 2:25 pm #1205867603I disagree that The Boys is buzzier this season than it was the last. It may not have gone anywhere awards wise but it was a very big contender for the show of the summer with how viral Antony Starr was getting for his facial expressions and the raves the “Herogasm” installment received alone. This time round all I’ve seen are people talking about how the show’s right wing fans have only just realised the show was mocking them and that Tilda Swinton is voicing an octopus (the latter I read in a Deadline article whilst surfing their site).

June 20, 2024 at 2:45 pm #1205867616Also, I haven’t seen as much positive buzz this time around. Most people are obviously enjoying it, but like wolfali said, it really seemed like the show had unanimous praise in 2022, which isn’t the case here.

June 20, 2024 at 4:56 pm #1205867697Is it too early to discuss Variety Special (Live), watched Kendrick Lamar’s Pop Out concert last night and I’m really doubtful there another thing live broadcast that comes close to it within the next. Really hoping Amazon put some effort into a campaign because they could have a winner on their hands.
This one clip alone is phenomenally executed.
I need yall to understand that this was a LIVE EDIT?!?????? If it doesn’t get the Emmy that Homecoming was supposed to get – we ride at dawn. https://t.co/7cG22G3vtA

But those only started later on s3’s run (especially the meme that’s from the season finale). I would say that if we compare s3 vs s4 debut, the buzz is pretty equal, if not bigger, at least from my point of view. Nielsen will provide a clearer view on this but it should be noted that Amazon press release does mention that part of the bigger ratings involve a rise in countries such as Brazil and India, which to me could point out so it was pretty stable, or down, in the US.
I’m also already annoyed at the upcoming articles comparing HoTD and The Boys debut on Nielsen streaming charts without mentioning that The Boys debuted with 3 episodes vs 1.
