This is getting Barbie level promo push from HBO – banners hanging on the Brooklyn Bridge. Banners hanging on the Empire State Building. Banners hanging on the Sugarloaf Mountain gondola.

But as Cat’s Abbs pointed out in early 2025 prediction, the promo is still targetting male audience which is already captured, and despite promo effort buzz outside of WB/HBO/Westerosies sphere doesn’t match the effort.

I’m hoping for the best. Love the cast, currently the sexiest one on TV. They really promote the heck out of it and deserve to have big careers outside of the show.

As someone who has queried it, they have significantly stepped up overall promo this week (like, a lot, more than I expected) but  is still quite targeted to what I’d perceive as a captured audience. There’s nothing wrong with that honestly I’m just curious about it as from a marketing lens it feels a bit strategic and kind of out of line with Season 1.

The premiere can’t come soon enough.
Keep the writing levels up, keep George happy, give me plenty of dragons and the cast will do the rest.

Tom and Ewan had some nice photoshoot for Esquire, Matt for Variety…. Wish Emma or Olivia had something for Elle, Harper´s Bazar or even Vogue 👀

The EW cover was nice, but I want mooore 😭

Yeah, I don’t really get why publicity hasn’t been pushing for  this. I get them not necessarily having the draw for covers but features/editorials would be nice.

You opened my eyes to the promo targetting/catering to captured audience so I started to pay attention.

I did notice that the cast teases a lot of stuff that interesst women (ships such as rhaenicent, daemyra, alicole, everyone is rocking high couture, men are sexy and flirty with reporters and each other) but that is most likely a by product of charming cast with great chemistry that knows what to say to enage fans rather than strategic attempt on HBO part to re-capture the lost demo.

Emma’s busy with the play, that’s why they are mostly absent from the promo trail. But yes, I’ve seen girl accoutns gushing over all that but like Kat Ebbs explained in anothe post they aren’t relevant pop culture sites and accounts.

Nevertheless, may be just anecdotal evidence but I see more promo and chatter for this than the Boys (dropping in 2 days). Last thing I’ve seen everyone talk about was Kripke’s “how dare you love Homelander aka the best character played by the best actor who we made so iconic that he is the show, and without him you get disposable interchangeable crap like Gen V and Power (can anyone even notice the difference bewteen them save that one had Homelander as a guest in the finale)?”

True from my experience and online data as well. The show’s online engagement has been high so far per this. Near the top for all of June when The Boys just managed to crack the top 10. IMDb has also been seeing a bigger peak for GoT on there (#6) since forever I feel alongside HOTD being high again. Things have certainly ramped up now.

Can someone in the US cross reference for me that neither HoTD or GoT are in the Top 10 on Max yet in the US? that’s one of the things that’s making me feel like the launch might be a bit soft.
