Half season in. Ok, I’m understand what they’re trying to do with Claire, but I think it’s something that it would have worked better in one stand alone episode, Carmen going a spiritual dip into his childhood. The character simply doesn’t fit in the show’s mood and I get that this was supposed to be the thing, to have all her scenes being weird, sweet and apart from all the chaos from the restaurant to simbolize Carmen’s outside life and his lack of understanding about things that aren’t restaurant-related, and how he projects in Claire the solution to all that chaos (let me guess, he will soon get tired of her and feel like he needs to go to the chaos again). I’ve watched too much Mad Men to not know where this is going.

It was a good and relatable (the line “I missed a lot” speaking about his childhood) idea (Molly Gordon plays the character well), but I don’t think it’s particularly well executed.

Outside of that, I really liked all 5 episodes, with Honeydew obviously being the standout. Lionel Boyce is underrated.

Liza Colon Zayas had a great moment in the 5th episode.

And Matty Matheson is really funny, and I’m tired of pretending he isn’t.

(*) The strange Emmy rules about half-hour series versus hour-long ones means that The Bear is probably going to get a lot of nominations — and maybe even some big wins — in the comedy categories for its first season, even though that was almost entirely dramatic. Season Two balances the scales a bit more, even if it’s arguably 70-30 drama-to-comedy, compared to Season One’s 90-10 ratio.”“

When the hour long Christmas episode gets comedy nominations in 2024 ….

Finished the season and I couldn’t disagree more lol. Totally understand her reactions regarding Carmy’s actions.

People throw around the word narcissism too much without actually knowing what it means. Donna is a narcissist. Sydney is just ambitious.

I really thought S1 was overrated AF, but I’m enjoying S2 more than I did the final season of Succession (which, unpopular opinion, I do also believe to be overrated).

Only watched the first episode of season 2, but Ebon Moss-Bachrach already has a killer tape.

How come no one mentioned L-Boy as a contender for episode 4? He was magnificent.

Yeah, Fishes is the best episode of the whole show, what a stressing (in a great way) hour of television.
Crazy how I knew about pretty much every guest on this episode and yet there were still more that shocked me lol.

I kinda need to take a breath after Fishes lol, it was so intense. I’ll continue it later, or tomorrow.
