It’s unfortunate this season couldn’t come out in time to get some Emmy recognition in this open field. I’m sure it wouldn’t have done much better, or any better than the second season did, but this year probably would’ve been Antony Starr’s best shot at a nomination.

The whole ensemble is great. The third episode was some of Karl Urban’s best work, and Susan Heyward and Cameron Crovetti are really exciting additions to the main cast. But Starr really is perfect. He should’ve been nominated each season so far, and it’ll be a shame in the likely event that he never makes the lineup.

I’m sure it would have been nominated in Series and Writing at least.

The discourse around this season is kind of huge due to right wingers not liking it and calling it woke.
I wonder if some of the winter awards might give it a push.

Sigh. Right wing/incel/chud boogyman is why Hollywood is making bombs such as The Marvels, Furiosa, Lightyear, The Acolyte, this The Boys season, etc. Liberal audience which is the biggest audience for whom movies and shows are made are noping out cause they want plot and characters not lectures and boredom. Also stop mistaking supporting some rights IRL with wanting to see them in entertainment. Many people who support them don’t want to watch stuff with them. If Americans don’t give a fig about Indian politics and its opressed groups in Monkey Man why would foreign audience give a fig about American elections, etc? They don’t. And since The Boys S4 is only that and 0% plot and character, yeah people are not entertained no matter where they come from (country, political spectrum, demo, etc).

The Boys has always been woke (anti big corporations, anyone? who cannot relate to that around the world?). It wasn’t a woke-ified IP that once wasn’t. But people this season are tried of being beaten over the head with one the same message while the story goes nowhere but spins wheels. We get it, don’t vote for Trump, but can something happen, please? something, anything? WE DON’T CARE ABOUT HUGHIE’S MOM! WE DON’T CARE ABOUT HUGHIE LET ALONE HIS MOM!  WE DON’T CARE FOR THE 100TH TIME WHERE BUTCHER GETS FIRED ONLY TO SHOW THE BOYS CAN’T DO CRAP WITHOUT HIM! WE DON’T CARE FOR FRENCHIE AND KIMIKO FACING THE SAME FREAKIN PAST OVER AND OVER THAT WAS RESOLVED IN EVERY SEASON TIL REBOOTED IN THE NEXT!  CAN FREAKIN RYAN STOP FLIP_FLOPPING BETWEEN 2 FATHER FIGURES CHOSE AND GET DONE WITH IT? WHY IS DEEP STILL ON THE SHOW? HE HAD NOTHING TO DO SINCE S1 BUT F*** A SEAFOOD OF THE WEEK WHO CARES?ANNIE/STARLIGHT IS THE WORST CHARACTER AND ACTOR AND WE WON’T LIKE HER AND IF THEY THINK SAYING WE SHOULD LIKE HER BECAUSE SHE WILL PROTECT PRONOUNS THAN THEY DON’T KNOW HOW FICTION WORKS! CRAP WRITING AND ACTING WON’T BE UNDONE BY 1 GRANDSRANDING ABOUT SOMETHING POSITIVE! WE LOVE HOMELANDER BECAUSE HE IS PLAYED BY THE BEST ACTOR ON THE SHOW AND IS STILL BEST WRITTEN DESPITE A VALIANT ATTEMP TO RUIN HIM OUT OF REVENGE THAT HE IS LOVED AND STARLIGHT ISN’T!If that makes all these complaints right wing so be it.

Preaching to the choir will tire the choir. American audience that watches a woke show doesn’t need to be told how (not) to vote. They know already so give them plot and characters they can care about and only sprinke The Message, don’t make it a plot and character. International audience doesn’t care for American politics any more than Americans care for foreign so stop making shows 100% that and 0% plot and character. There. No rocket science but go ahead believe that only small vocal minority is unhappy for reasons that have nothing to do with the show’s quality nose-dive in aspects that aren’t political (spinning wheels, unfunny humor, some bad acting, worse dialog and writing overall, dullification of once engaging characters, repetition, deliberate stalling of narrative progression to justify one more season when in reality they should have wrapped it up last season).

Of course this season would be the most controversial of the series yet, but what isn’t controversial is that Starr continues to give one of the best TV performances ever and it’s a crime he’s walking away Emmy less, let alone Emmy nom less. Hopefully the stars align and he manages to snatch at least one nod for the remaining 2 seasons.

The writing for Starlight this season has been atrocious. Too bad because Erin Moriarty is a very capable actress.

    FYC: Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”)
Martin Short (“Only Murders in the Building”)
    Brie Larson (“Lessons in Chemistry”)
    Billy Crudup ("The Morning Show")

All my inner circle and me love the 4th season. Also in my social media feeds I’ve seen a lot of positive reactions.

    Ep 4

Skipping anything and anyone that isn’t Homelander or Butcher. It’s going to be this way til the end of the show.

Homelander did nothing wrong. Every single kill was deserved. They all do the same s*** that was done to him. Down with Vought! Down with Kripke if he thinks we should hate Homelander for this.

Antony Starr is a star. And this was the Emmy winning performance. Wow. Every time you think he can’t top himself he does. Created a completely unique character unlike anyone ever.

Starr was incredible and him not getting an Emmy nomination for this performance will be such a shame. I think we’re supposed to feel ambivalence towards what Homelander does. Those were some awful people but at the same time it shows that Homelander is unstable asf and that he needs to be stopped no matter what.

I fricking loved this week’s episode. With the exception of Frenchie’s sub-plot (which I am finding rather boring) I’ve enjoyed this season so far in spite of it being a bit uneventful compared to its predecessors because it feels befitting after the blockbuster nature of the third season and epecially given the next will be the last. But this felt like quite a delicious return to this show’s political roots and I really like how easy it was to forget that the episode had each of its main characters having to make difficult decisions due to their past beginning to haunt them simply because each storyline was compelling on an individual level. I really love it when shows use that type of bottle episode structure to secretly make one of their most pivotal episodes. Starr’s performance was one of his best.

TV FYC: Juno Temple ("Fargo"), Tony Shalhoub ("Mr. Monk's Last Case"), Rashida Jones ("Silo"), The Curse, Expats, The Gilded Age and Slow Horses in all categories.

    Antony Starr’s Emmys submission.

Starlight’s storyline in this week’s episode was even more impactful to me because of something horrible that is happening in my country right now (extreme right-wing politicians in Brazil are trying to pass a law that would make abortion considered a crime of homicide, even if the woman has been a victim of rape or if her life is at risk)

Episode 4 was very very good.

I know it’s been said already but Antony Starr should be part of the emmy conversation. One of the best performances on the medium right now.

In The Boys universe, when a show jumps a shark it’s called jump a sheep. And it happened literally. The show jumped the sheep, the whole flock of them. What a way to waste Giancarlo Esposito on that sunplot.

Complaints that this is Nothing Happens: The Show are spot on. No, we didn’t get the virus again but next time trust me bro. We caught yet another fake leaker although the smartest person in the world is the investigator and the dumbest person in the world is the real leaker. Lets waste over half of the episode on 2 dumb subplots (dad and sheep) to show that taking V is bad (something that’s been hammered since day 1). Only Starr continues to deliver, the rest of them are useless af or useless af and pointless af (Neuman). This season just doesn’t know what story it wants to tell but drags its feet cause next one is the finale. Worth watching Starr only, skip the rest (I caught the sheep cause Butcher was in it, I watch his scenes too but after this I’m seriously rethinking my strategy).

The arc with the pigs seemed even more out of place because right bang in the middle of it you had some of the best material the show produced with Hughie and his parents.
