more free to air/network TV than 99% of days of the year , there was a mass stabbing here

    1. football, interrupted by stabbing news
    2. three episodes of Friends.
    3. two episodes of Daria
    4. football
    5. (fallout 1 and 2)
    6. the full length episode of Bluey (totally winning TCA Kids program according to me).

    Curb Your Enthusiasm season 3

I can’t believe that Larry David has a more respectful and less obnoxious reaction to his mother dying than Selina Meyer 💀👀…

Episode 5 of that season is so hilarious, especially within the context of airing in the wake of 9/11. Wanda took me out in the scene where she visits Larry and Cheryl to tell them about the “attack”.

    FYC

    Emma Stone - The Curse
Naomi Watts - Feud: Capote vs. The Swans
    Sarayu Blue - Expats

That episode is actually my favourite of the season so far (in spite of “The Nanny From Hell” having one of the most out there faux pas in the show so far and a great punchline at the end from Susie). It’s interesting because it actually conforms quite strictly to so many of the rules of comedy but the manic energy in the episode throughout whether with Wanda’s warning at the start of the episode (and her line reading in particular when she says “let’s just ask the terrorists to reschedule for another weekend”), the gaffe with Paul Reiser’s wife, the totally out of nowhere Martin Short cameo and then the whole skit with Alaniss Morissette at the end all just really take it to new places both in creativity and entertainment. Whilst Cheryl and Larry being at the centre of the cringe humour is a big part of the show’s selling point in these earlier seasons it was also nice to have a break from that and to see an episode where they ironically were having the most rational responses (which I suppose fits in nicely with the metaness the whole gag was trying to touch on).

TV FYC: Juno Temple ("Fargo"), Tony Shalhoub ("Mr. Monk's Last Case"), Rashida Jones ("Silo"), The Curse, Expats, The Gilded Age and Slow Horses in all categories.

(and her line reading in particular when she says “let’s just ask the terrorists to reschedule for another weekend”)

This line SENT ME 💀 I feel like she was trying to hold in her laughter. I also read that that scene becomes entirely improvisational between Larry and Cheryl after Wanda leaves which is impressive.
