America's top 100 tournament golf courses you can play: The 25 best

Our latest top 100 list is for golfers who love to test themselves against the game's most inspiring tournament venues.
2024 U.S. Open - Pinehurst - Rory McIlroy
Pinehurst No. 2 lived up to its "anchor site" billing during the 2024 U.S. Open.

Golfers love a good challenge.

Whether a good player or just a weekend hack, we all want to feel like we've accomplished something when we walk off the golf course, whether that's beating our handicap, crushing our buddies for a few bucks or having the round of a lifetime.

Not all of us play serious competitive golf, but we all can play serious tournament venues to gauge the state of our game. We've spent extensive hours researching our latest Top 100 list: America's top 100 tournament golf courses you can play.

We wanted to identify the best of the best out of the thousands of U.S. courses that host state and local tournaments and hundreds of college courses that hold competitions, too.

We examined the tournament histories of America's best public and resort courses to determine our rankings. We analyzed courses that have hosted professional golf tournaments from the PGA TOUR, PGA TOUR Champions, Korn Ferry Tour, LPGA Tour and Epson Tour to United States Golf Association and PGA of America championships. Even Division I college tournaments - nationals, regionals and conference tournaments, plus long-time events - and state PGA professional and elite junior tournaments factored into our equation.

In ranking each course, we tried to balance its tournament pedigree against the course's difficulty and critical acclaim. Much of the list is a who's-who of playing where the pros play, although we made sure to sprinkle in high-profile venues for big amateur championships as well.

For example, Erin Hills and Chambers Bay have hosted prestigious U.S. Opens and U.S. Amateurs, and yet don't boast a long enough tournament pedigree to crack the top 10. Hosting a major championship, though, does count for significantly more street cred in our eyes than a PGA TOUR event, so they're still highly ranked. In the same way, United States Golf Association amateur championships rate highly as well.

Courses hosting multiple tournaments - plus noteworthy exhibitions like a skins game or Shell's Wonderful World of Golf - also fared well on our scoreboard, more so than just hosting a single event over an extended period of time. We essentially asked ourselves two questions:

- "If we were running a world-class tournament, where would we host it?"
- "Where would our competitors want to play to experience a demanding and fair test of golf?"

Fancy yourself a player? These are the places that will really identify the strengths, and weaknesses, of your game. Golfers can book tee times - or golf vacations - to many of these tournament venues right from the articles.

We broke the Top 100 into three separate stories: The top 25, nos. 26-50 and 51-100. We think you will enjoy this unique collection of premier, tournament-tested venues. We welcome any debate about where each one should be ranked, so feel free to leave comments below.

Our guide to identifying listed tournaments

In our course profiles below, we list the most important tournaments (certainly not every tournament) each golf course has hosted. Men's and women's majors are featured in bold, while PGA TOUR events are listed first in normal text, followed by PGA Tour Champions events that are underlined, Korn Ferry Tour events that are underlined bold, LPGA Tour events that read in normal text, amateur tournaments in italics and club pro tournaments that return to normal text at the end.

  1. Pinehurst No. 2
how to watch the us open at Pinehurst
Payne Stewart's triumphant 1999 U.S. Open win at Pinehurst No. 2 solidified the golf course as one of America's most reputable.
    Pinehurst, North Carolina
    Resort
    3.7889294118
    38

Tournament history: 1936 PGA Championship, U.S. Open (1999, 2005, 2014, 2024), TOUR Championship (1991, 1992), North & South Open Championship (a professional tour stop from 1902-1951), World Golf Hall of Fame Classic (i.e. World Open and Colgate Hall of Fame Classic 1973-82), 1951 Ryder Cup Matches, 2014 U.S. Women’s Open, 2004 U.S Senior Open, 1983 Hall of Fame Tournament, 1994 Shell Wonderful World of Golf (Palmer vs. Nicklaus), U.S. Amateur (1962, 2008 2019), 1989 U.S. Women’s Amateur, North and South Amateur Golf Championships (men since 1901 and women since 1903), PGA Professional Championship (1971-74, 1988, 1997-98).
Comment: No. 2 is No. 1. A quarter-century after Payne Stewart authored one of major golf's greatest walkoff wins, Bryson DeChambeau added to the lore of Donald Ross' Sandhills masterpiece with his own tournament-winning par after a mind-numbing 55-yard up-and-down from sandy no man's land. That such a sense of importance can come to be associated with a golf course that sits on an inland pine forest - as opposed, say, to an ocean - suggests an almost mystical quality to its greatness. The back-nine drama of the 2024 U.S. Open sealed No. 2's spot atop our list, and we can't wait to see what fresh delights await the golf-viewing public when both the men's and U.S. Women's Opens come calling again in 2029.

  2. Pebble Beach Golf Links
2019 US Open - Round Three
Pebble Beach has been a key U.S. Open host since 1972, and it seems likely that its turns hosting the tournament in the future will continue and perhaps increase in frequency.
    Pebble Beach, California
    Resort
    4.9851833333
    47

    Tournament history: 1977 PGA Championship, U.S. Open (1972, 1982, 1992, 2000, 2010, 2019), Bing Crosby National Pro-Am/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (1947-present), 1988 Nabisco Championships of Golf, PURE Insurance Championship Impacting The First Tee (2004-present), 2023 U.S. Women's Open, Weathervane Women's Open (1950-51), U.S. Amateur (1929, 1947, 1961, 1999, 2018), U.S. Women's Amateur (1940, 1948), California State Amateur (1919-99, 2001-06), California Women's Amateur (1967-86, 2016), TaylorMade Pebble Beach Invitational (1974-88, 1990-present).
Comment: As the USGA's anchor site on the West Coast, Pebble Beach is scheduled to host four future U.S. Opens (2027, 2032, 2037 and 2044) as well as three future U.S. Women’s Opens Presented by ProMedica (2035, 2040 and 2048). Coupled with its annual tournaments on the PGA TOUR and PGA Tour Champions, Pebble Beach never strays far from the public eye. The only thing missing on its resume is a Ryder Cup.

  3. TPC Sawgrass - PLAYERS Stadium Course
TPC Sawgrass - PLAYERS Stadium Course
TPC Sawgrass - PLAYERS Stadium Course
    Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
    Resort
    4.9481882353
    112

Tournament history: The PLAYERS Championship (1982-present), Mazda Senior Tournament Players Championship (1988-89), 1994 U.S. Amateur.
Comment: Pete Dye's masterwork has hosted some of modern golf's most electric moments, capped by Tiger Woods' "better than most" putt in 2001, perhaps the most famous shot ever hit on a Saturday, at the iconic island-green par-3 17th. The rest of the golf course is equal parts beguiling and frustrating, and only yielded a back-to-back champion for the first time in 2024, when Scottie Scheffler won The Players. A constant sense of tweaks and evolution makes the Stadium a quintessentally American championship golf course.

Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort Stay & Play Package
    Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL | Enjoy up to 5 nights’ accommodations at the Sawgrass Marriott Golf Resort & Spa and up to 4 rounds of golf at your choice of TPC Sawgrass - PLAYERS Stadium Course, TPC Sawgrass – Dye's Valley Course, South Hampton Golf Course, and St. John’s Golf Course.

  4. Bethpage Black
2019 PGA Championship - Round Two
Bethpage Black is one of the great championship golf courses in the public realm.
    Farmingdale, New York
    Municipal
    4.7825529412
    60

    Tournaments: 2019 PGA Championship, U.S. Open (2002, 2009), The Barclays (2012, 2016), New York State Open (1990, 1994, 1996-2023). | Future: 2025 Ryder Cup Matches
Comment: Not many courses have held a PGA Championship and a U.S. Open, but Bethpage Black has thrived doing both thanks to rowdy New York crowds and one demanding golf course. It's an arduous walk and a nightmare to play for golfers who can't keep the ball in the fairway. Some of the greens feel like they're perched on the roof of a four-story building surrounded by a moat of sand. Don't worry about your score. Just be happy you scored a tee time on one of America's most popular munis. It's a bargain at $160 for out of staters.

  5. Kiawah Island Golf Resort - Ocean Course
Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort
Ian Woosnam hits a bunker shot on the Ocean Course at Kiawah Island Golf Resort during the 1991 Ryder Cup Matches known as the "War by the Shore." The Pete Dye design was built specifically for the event.
    Kiawah Island, South Carolina
    Resort
    4.9464285714
    65

Tournament history: 1991 Ryder Cup Matches, PGA Championship (2012, 2021), World Cup (1997, 2003), 2007 Senior PGA Championship, 2001 Warburg Cup, 1996 Shell's Wonderful World of Golf (Dottie Pepper vs. Annika Sorenstam), 2005 PGA Professional Championship. Future: 2031 PGA Championship.
Comment: Has any golf course made a more iconic debut than The Ocean Course? The 1991 Ryder Cup was the first formal golf ever played on the Pete Dye marvel dragged out of the pluff mud of coastal South Carolina. In 2012, it saw Rory McIlroy's dominant eight-shot PGA Championship win; then Phil Mickelson turned back the clock to win the 2021 edition. Crazy things happen at Kiawah; here's hoping for more when the 2031 PGA unfolds.

  6. Whistling Straits - Straits Course
2010 PGA Championship - Whistling Straits - Dustin Johnson bunker
Dustin Johnson's inadvertent Rules infraction from an obscure bunker on the 72nd hole of the 2010 PGA Championship cast a shadow on an otherwise exciting event.
    Sheboygan, Wisconsin

    26

Tournament history: 2021 Ryder Cup Matches, PGA Championship (2004, 2010, 2015), 2007 U.S. Senior Open.
Comment: Pete Dye's completely manufactured links-of-the-surreal beside Lake Michigan is built for dramatic golf and thousands of spectators. It's no surprise that every big championship it's held has been a spectacle.

  7. Torrey Pines South
    U.S. Open - Final Round
Jon Rahm delivered a thrilling 2021 U.S. Open victory at Torrey Pines' South Course. Did the venue earn another turn in the USGA rotation?
    La Jolla, California
    Public/Municipal
    1.7141235294
    42

Tournament history: U.S. Open (2008, 2019), Farmers Insurance Open (1968-present), 1983 Inamori LPGA Classic, 2009 Samsung World Championship, IMG Junior World Championships (1968-present).
Comment: It's not unheard of for rising juniors (think Phil Mickelson, Xander Schauffele) to win worlds at Torrey Pines South and then win again on the same difficult course as PGA TOUR superstars years later. The heavy sea air off the Pacific Ocean and unrelenting rough keep most everyday golfers from shooting their handicap. The walk along the coastal cliffs is worth it to thousands of visitors regardless.

The Lodge At Torrey Pines Stay & Play Package
    La Jolla, CA
LA JOLLA, CA | Enjoy up to 5 nights’ accommodations at The Lodge at Torrey Pines and up to 4 rounds of golf at your choice of Torrey Pines – South Course and Torrey Pines – North Course.

  8. Firestone Country Club - South Course
Firestone Country Club - No. 16
Akron's Firestone Country Club hosted three PGA Championships, dozens of PGA Tour events and, now, a PGA Tour Champions tournament.
    Akron, Ohio
    Private
    4.5732235294
    21

Tournament history: PGA Championship (1960, 1966, 1975), Rubber City Open Invitational (1954-59), The American Golf Classic (1961-76), World Series of Golf/World Golf Championship-Bridgestone Invitational (1962-1993, 1995-2021), 2023 Kaulig Companies Championship.
Comment: Calling Firestone South "meat and potatoes golf" might seem like a slight only to those who don't know the pleasure of a great steak. The ruthlessly linear, rough-and-tree-lined test has hosted a stunning 88 significant tournaments, including three PGAs and a ridiculous eight WGC wins by Tiger Woods in a 14-year span from 1999 to 2013. Now a prominent PGA Tour Champions host, it continues to be part of the fabric of American competitive golf while welcoming stay-and-plays from non-members.

  9. Sea Pines Resort - Harbour Town Golf Links
    Harbour Town - Colin Montgomerie
Harbour Town Golf Links helped spur decades of growth of the game on Hilton Head Island.
    Hilton Head Island, South Carolina
    Resort
    4.9808823529
    83

Tournament history: RBC Heritage (1969-present), Seniors International Golf Championship (1986-87).
Comment: Harbour Town is one of America's most important golf courses because not only has it hosted the PGA TOUR for more than half a century, uninterrupted, it stood out as a counterpoint to the prevailing architecture style of the day and it helped elevate Pete Dye's status as one of golf's greatest makers of courses. It also launched the "Signature design era" by virtue of Jack Nicklaus' ties to the design. The Golden Bear and his company have laid out more than 400 golf courses worldwide since Harbour Town.

Sea Pines Resort Stay & Play Package
    Hilton Head Island, SC
HILTON HEAD ISLAND, SC | Enjoy up to 7 nights’ accommodations at the Sea Pines Resort and up to 5 rounds of golf at your choice of Harbour Town Golf Links, Atlantic Dunes Golf Course, and Heron Point Course.

  10. TPC Harding Park
2020 PGA Championship - TPC Harding Park - Collin Morikawa
Collin Morikawa of the United States plays his shot from the tenth tee during the final round of the 2020 PGA Championship at TPC Harding Park on August 9, 2020.
    San Francisco, California
    Public
    4.1364411765
    435

Tournaments: 2020 PGA Championship, 2005 World Golf Championships-American Express Championship, 2015 WGC-Cadillac Match Play, San Francisco Open (1944-45, 1969), Lucky International (1961-66, 1968), 1959 Golden Gate Championship, 1925 Harding Inaugural Tournament, 2009 Presidents Cup, Charles Schwab Cup Championship (2010-12), 1981 Eureka Federal PGA Seniors, 2023 Hanwha LIFEPLUS International Crown, San Francisco City Golf Championship (1917-present).
Comment: We love Harding Park for the variety of events it continues to attract, all while holding onto its roots as the home of the San Francisco City Championship. The towering Cypress trees will knock down or kidnap misguided shots randomly. The finish along Lake Merced ends every round in style.

  11. Bay Hill Club & Lodge
Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard - Round Three
Bay Hill's par-4 3rd hole swings to the left around a lake.
    Orlando, Florida
    Resort/Private
    4.1351
    37

Tournament history: The Arnold Palmer Invitational presented by MasterCard (1979-present).
Comment: In Mr. Palmer's life and afterward, Bay Hill is as dyed-in-the-wool as any other regular PGA TOUR stop. Its decades of service to the professional game include serving as the stage for an incredible 8 wins by Tiger Woods alone. The closing trio of holes - a gettable par 5, tough par 3 and unforgiving par 4 - tends to provide late drama.

Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge Stay & Play Package
    Orlando, Florida
ORLANDO, FL | Enjoy up to 5 nights’ accommodations at Arnold Palmer’s Bay Hill Club & Lodge and up to 4 rounds of golf at your choice of Bay Hill Golf Club, Disney’s Magnolia Golf Course, and Celebration Golf Club.

  12. Erin Hills
    U.S. Open - Round Four
A general view of the par 3, ninth hole during the final round of the 117th US Open Championship at Erin Hills on June 18, 2017.
    Erin, Wisconsin
    Public
    4.9684352941
    49

    Tournament history: 2017 U.S. Open, 2011 U.S. Amateur, 2015 U.S. Mid-Am. | Future: 2025 U.S. Women's Open
Comment: Erin Hills has one of American golf's more interesting origin stories: an effort by multiple figures to boot-strap a U.S. Open course that went from quixotic ambition to a reality in less than 20 years when Brooks Koepka hoisted the trophy there in 2017. The experience of playing the course - lots of ups and downs - echoes its history.

  13. Chambers Bay
2015 US Open - Final Round
Chambers Bay provided the platform for a wild 2015 U.S. Open.
    University Place, Washington
    Resort
    4.6313176471
    81

    Tournament history: 2015 U.S. Open. 2010 U.S. Amateur, 2022 U.S. Women's Amateur, 2021 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball (men's). 2017 Pacific Coast Amateur Championship, Washington State Men's Amateur Championship (2013, 2020), 2023 PNGA Men’s Amateur Championship. Future: 2027 U.S. Junior Amateur, 2033 U.S. Amateur
Comment: The reactions to both iffy conditioning and the USGA's decision to depart from the normal U.S. Open course style and setup left a sour aftertaste, but there's no denying the drama of the 2015 championship. With fine-tuned turf, the outrageous beauty of this golf course will shine through if it gets another shot at televised tournament golf.

  14. TPC Scottsdale - Stadium Course
    WM Phoenix Open
Every year, TPC Scottsdale turns into pro golf's wildest party, centered around the stadium-style par-3 16th hole.
    Scottsdale, Arizona
    Resort
    4.6062764706
    682

    Tournaments: WM Phoenix Open (1987-present).
Comment: The 2024 debacle aside, the TPC Scottsdale Stadium course always puts on a good show in late January/early February during Super Bowl Sunday. The crowds get fired up when the pros make birdie on no. 16 or drive the green on no. 17. Only the strong golf gladiators survive the chaos of the stadium.

  15. Kapalua Plantation
    The Sentry - Round Three
Once again, the PGA Tour season gets underway in Hawaii at The Sentry at Kapalua's Plantation Course.
    Lahaina, Hawaii
    Resort
    4.7541
    61

    Tournaments: The Sentry (1999-present).
Comment: A talented field and the scenery distract viewers from the truth about Kapalua's Plantation Course. It's a tough test for us mortals, especially when the trade winds kick up. Kapalua introduced the world to the architecture of Coore & Crenshaw, a rare design duo who are still going strong.

  16. PGA West - Stadium Course
PGA West - Stadium Course - 17th hole - Alcatraz
James Hahn swings away at the 17th hole - named Alcatraz - on PGA West's Stadium Course.
    La Quinta, California
    Public/Resort
    4.3443764706
    986

Tournaments: The American Express (under various sponsors from 1987, 2016-present). Liberty Mutual Legends of Golf (1995-96), 1990 TaylorMade PGA Club Professional Championship, The Skins Game (1986-91), Q School Finals (1986-88, 1998, 2002, 2006, 2008, 2011-12), The Prestige at PGA WEST Intercollegiate Invitational (2009-10).
Comment: This Pete Dye classic isn't as feared as it once was when it was breaking hearts and ending careers during Q School finals a decade ago, but it would be silly to dismiss it so easily. For resort golfers, it's as dangerous as ever, especially when you're staring down the island green on the hole called "Alcatraz" or one of the deepest bunkers in golf.

La Quinta Resort & Club Stay & Play Package

LA QUINTA, CA | Enjoy up to 5 nights’ accommodations at La Quinta Resort & Club and up to 4 rounds of golf at your choice of PGA WEST - Nicklaus Tournament Course, PGA WEST - Pete Dye Mountain Course, PGA WEST - Greg Norman Course, PGA WEST - Pete Dye Dunes Course, and PGA WEST - The Pete Dye Stadium Course.

  17. PGA National Resort & Spa - Champion Course
The Honda Classic - Final Round
Scenic photo of the 17th hole during the final round of the 2020 Honda Classic at PGA National's Champion Course.
    Palm Beach Gardens, Florida
    Resort
    3.1338705882
    32

Tournament history: 1983 Ryder Cup Matches, 1987 PGA Championship, Cognizant Classic (various sponsors from 2007-present), Senior PGA Championship (1982-2000).
Comment: "The Champ" has developed a reputation for occasional brutality in its near 20-year run as a PGA TOUR host, with the famed Bear Trap run of holes welcoming dozens of golf balls into the water on windy weekends. The course's major championship pedigree is impressive, too, but that was before Jack Nicklaus overhauled the original course laid out by George and Tom Fazio.

  18. Shadow Creek
THE CJ CUP @ SHADOW CREEK - Final Round
Shadow Creek stepped in to host the CJ Cup in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic.
    North Las Vegas, Nevada
    Private/Resort
    4.9286
    14

Tournaments: 2020 C.J. Cup, 2018: The Match. Bank of Hope LPGA Match Play (2021-present), Michael Jordan Celebrity Invitational (2001-14).
Comment: Most golfers will remember the Tiger vs. Phil match under the lights, but Shadow Creek is the rare course that's hosted both the PGA TOUR and LPGA Tour. Its price tag has bulged to $1,250, plus a night's stay at an MGM property.

  19. Spyglass Hill
    AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am - Round Three
A view of the fifth hole at Spyglass Hill Golf Course during the third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am on February 05, 2023.
    Pebble Beach, California
    Resort
    4.3578470588
    27

Tournaments: Bing Crosby National Pro-Am/AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am (co-host for one round from 1967-present), PURE Insurance Championship Impacting The First Tee (co-host for one round), U.S. Amateur (co-host for one round in 1999, 2018), NCGA Amateur (1966-1995, 1997-present), NCGA Women's Amateur (2022-present), NCGA Four-Ball Championship (1967-present), NCGA Associate Club Championship (1998-present), NCGA Zone Championship (1967-present).
Comment: Spyglass Hill was once the home of the Northern California Golf Association, so it was built to host NCGA events, which it continues to do today. It's generally regarded as the toughest test at Pebble Beach Resorts. The 2030 U.S. Senior Open and U.S. Senior Women’s Open will be staged back-to-back for the first time, giving Spyglass a chance to step out of Pebble's shadow for a change.

  20. Trump National Doral Miami - Blue Monster
LIV Golf Invitational - Miami - Day Three
The Blue Monster at Doral has hosted tournament golf for decades.

Tournaments: Doral Open (1962-2006), WGC-Cadillac Championship (2007-16), 2000 Franklin-Templeton Shootout, 1975 Colgate Triple Crown, 2018 PGA Tour Latinoamerica Tour Championship - Shell Championship, 2022-24 LIV Golf Team Championship, 2001 The Office Depot, 1976 Pepsi-Cola Mixed Team Championship, 1991 PGA  Professional Championship.
Comment: Politics and tour allegiances aside, Doral's Blue Monster remains one of golf's iconic tournament venues. Whether it's LIV golfers or PGA TOUR pros, nobody is immune from rinsing a few shots on a water-logged back nine during the pressure of the moment.

Trump National Doral Miami Stay & Play Package
    Miami, Florida
MIAMI, FL | Enjoy up to 5 nights’ accommodations at the Trump National Doral Miami and up to 4 rounds of golf at your choice of The Blue Monster Course, The Golden Palm Course, The Red Tiger Course, The Silver Fox Course.

  21. Innisbrook Resort - Copperhead
    Valspar Championship - Round Three
Tiger Woods plays his shot from the eighth tee during the third round of the 2018 Valspar Championship at Innisbrook Resort.

Tournaments: Valspar Championship (2000-present), J.C. Penney Classic (1990-99).
Comment: Larry Packard's most famous design is one of the PGA TOUR's favorite venues because of its straightforward shot values and stern overall test of both ball-striking and short game. Valspar winners run the gamut from emotional underdog stories like Peter Malnati (2024) to big stars like Vijay Singh (2004) and Jordan Spieth (2015), making the course one of the TOUR schedule's most meritocratic.

Innisbrook Golf Resort Stay & Play Package

  22. Omni La Costa Resort & Spa - North Course
    2024 NCAA Division I Women's Golf Championship
A major renovation project by Gil Hanse and Jim Wagner set up La Costa's North Course to host the NCAA Championships in golf starting in 2024.
    Carlsbad, California
    Resort
    2.0099
    658

Tournaments: Mercedes Championships (1969–1998). WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship (1999-2005), MONY Senior Tournament of Champions (1984-94), Kia Classic (2010, 2012), 2024 Men's and Women's Division I NCAA Championships.
Comment: The revival of La Costa's North Course is one of the feel-good stories of the year. Gil Hanse's redesign led to a successful first year hosting the NCAA Championships in May with two more years guaranteed and a hope for a long-term future. For resort golfers, the Omni is a wonderful place to unwind after getting beat up by the difficult finishing stretch.

  23. Tiburon Golf Club - Gold Course
CME Group Tour Championship - Final Round
The end of each calendar year is a busy time for The Gold Course at Tiburon Golf Club in Naples.
    Naples, Florida
    Resort
    4.8421941176
    79

Tournament history: QBE Shootout (i.e. "Shark Shootout" from 2001-22), Grant Thornton Invitational (2023-present), CME Group Tour Championship (2013-present).
Comment: The fact that Tiburon's tournament-hosting duties tend to come in the winter (i.e. the shoulder season for widespread interest in pro golf) doesn't take away from the fact that it has an impressive history. The Gold Course does something no other course on this list does: hold two separate elite-level professional events less than a month apart. In 2024, the LPGA Tour's season-ending CME Group Tour Championship ends on Sunday, November 24th, then the off-season Grant Thornton Invitational, teaming PGA Tour and LPGA stars, takes place December 13-15. The Greg Norman design is popular among mortal golfers, too; it took the top spot nationwide in our 2024 Golfers' Choice ranking.

  24. Grayhawk Golf Club - Raptor Course
NCAA Men's Golf Division I Championships
Grayhawk Golf Club's Raptor Course hosted three NCAA Golf Championships on both the mens and women's side from 2021 through 2023.
    Scottsdale, Arizona
    Public
    3.7083
    24

Tournaments: Frys.com Open (2007-09), 2000 Williams World Challenge, Andersen Consulting World Championship of Golf (1995, 1997-98), Tommy Bahama Challenge (2004-05), NCAA Division I Men’s and Women’s Golf Championships (2021-23), Thunderbird International Junior (2000-2019), National Car Rental PGA Jr. League Championship (2016-22), Johnnie-O Twin Fin (2001-present).
Comment: Grayhawk's Raptor Course has dug its claws into just about every level of tournament player, from top pros to elite college golfers and rising young amateurs. If the Sonoran desert doesn't get you off the tee, the confounding green sites likely will.

  25. Seaside Course at Sea Island
    Sea Island Resort - Seaside
Sea Island is a scenic, coastal retreat in Georgia.
    St Simons Island, Georgia
    Resort
    4.9832
    18

    Tournaments: RSM Classic (2010-2020, 2022-present), Sea Island Open (1954-58, 1960-61), Sea Island Women's Invitational (1962-63), Men’s SEC Championships (2001-2023).
Comment: The local pros in the "Sea Island mafia" - led by Davis Love III - always have an advantage when they tee it up on this classic gem set in the tidal marshlands of coastal Georgia.
