It's no secret that Cillian Murphy has impeccable taste when it comes to shoes. While he does like a New Balance every once in a while, when he's in serious actor mode (which is like 95 per cent of the time), he goes for a pair of boots. Not just any boots, though. More specifically, the Freddi by London bootmaker John Lobb.

This is the kinda Chelsea boot that all of the biggest fashion guys wear. Crafted here in England from super luxe calfskin leather, they're designed with a pointy almond toe, and fitted with a palladium zip pull across the medial sides. The ankle goes up higher than usual for a statement-y look, and all of this then rests on top of a chunkier-than-usual heel – a feature that the Cork-born actor just can't get enough of.

“The Freddi ankle boot is a homage to the English style of the ‘70s,” said John Lobb to GQ. "Part of the renewed Prestige line, it's the house’s first zipped boot in the ready-to-wear collection with easy removal in mind. It also has a higher ankle and higher heel than any other Lobbs to date, revealing a sleeker direction for the house."

If you're wondering where you've seen this boot before (déjà shoe?), the Irish legend actually wore them throughout the press tour for Oppenheimer. He also rocked up to the red carpet in the Freddi during last week's Oscars Nominees Luncheon, and they made a special appearance at the Berlin Film Festival on Friday. And with awards season coming in hot, we're pretty sure that we'll see more of them very, very soon.

Cillian Murphy's John Lobb boots are a serious menswear grail that every serious menswear guy should own. They're available now, but sizes are selling out. And fast.
