Youngest individually credited winner at the Grammy Awards

Blue Ivy Carter (USA, b. 7 January 2012) – the daughter of Beyoncé and Jay-Z – was nine years 66 days old when she won Best Music Video as a featured artist on her mother’s “BROWN SKIN GIRL” at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards on 14 March 2021. The track also features SAINt JHN and Wizkid and appeared on the album The Lion King: The Gift.

Pre-Grammys, “BROWN SKIN GIRL” won the BET Her Award at the 20th BET [Black Entertainment Television] Awards on 28 June 2020 and Video of the Year at the 2020 Soul Train Music Awards on 29 November, both when Blue Ivy was eight years old. Her mother is the most decorated musician at both events, while Best Music Video gave her a 25th Grammy award.

The country trio The Peasall Sisters (Hannah, Leah and Sarah) won an Album of the Year Grammy at the 44th awards in 2002 for performing Maybelle Carter’s “In the Highways” on the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack album. At the time, Leah was eight years old (Hannah was 11 and Sarah was 14) and remains the youngest Grammy winner not individually credited.

Beyoncé (b. 4 September 1981) won her first Grammys with Destiny’s Child (for “Say My Name”) at the 43rd edition of the awards on 21 February 2001. She was 19 years 170 days old at the time – that’s more than 10 years older than Blue Ivy was when she collected her first trophy in 2021.
