Actress Virginia Madsen, who portrays Maria Sunderland in the series, seemed to confirm the news Wednesday morning in an instagram post that was quickly deleted. The post read:
"I'm beyond sad. What a terrible decision. We have been cut to the core by those who have never set foot into the Swamp. And despite the rule I am going to use the hashtag. #swampthing."Swamp Thing is one of several live-action TV series created for DC Universe's streaming service, including Titans, Doom Patrol, and Stargirl. The series stars Andy Bean as Alec Holland, Derek Mears as Swamp Thing, and Crystal Reed as Abby Arcane.
Gary Dauberman, known for It and The Nun, co-wrote and is an executive producer on Swamp Thing, and shared in an interview last September what the live-action series will entail, saying it's an "origin story of the Swamp Thing and it’s Alec Holland wrestling with who he’s become. A lot of it’s told through the point of view of Abby Arcane."For more on Swamp Thing, check out everything we found out last month and who Swamp Thing is, for those unfamiliar with the DC Comics character.
