You can trust ‘Wednesday’ star Jenna Ortega to say what’s on her mind, whether it’s “politically correct” or not. The actress first came under fire with fans for sharing her thoughts on the first season of Wednesday and openly discussing the changes she’d love to see happen in the second one, which by the way, she’s producing alongside Tim Burton.
At the time, fans did not find her revelation that she requested for certain things to be changed in the Netflix show in good taste. But that’s not stopping her from speaking her mind or discussing what she brings to the table in her work as an actress and producer.

Well, buckle up, because AI has turned this wild notion into a mind-bending reality. Picture this: Peter Griffin and the gang, not just animated, but rendered in a live-action style that’s as surreal as it is unsettling.

James Cameron’s The Terminator is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this year. To mark the occasion, it’s the latest one of the director’s movies to get a radical 4K restoration done by Park Road Post, a post-production facility owned by Peter Jackson’s WingNut Films. This company is behind some of the most incredible, acclaimed restorations in recent memory, including Peter Jackson’s WWI documentary, They Shall Not Grow Old, and his The Beatles’ Get Back documentary.
But they’ve also been controversial, with James Cameron using them to significantly alter the looks of several of his films as they hit 4K. Notably, each film had been completely wiped of any film-like grain, making them look more like contemporary films than those made in the 1980s and 90s. This was especially noticeable in Aliens, which always sported a grainy look due to the high-speed film stock used. With the AI-assisted transfer,...

When Tim Burton's "Batman Returns" was released in 1992, it was received with — to this author's recollection — a mixed amount of enthusiasm. The film was a hit, making over $266 million on an $80 million budget, but Burton's vision was described by critics and some audiences as being too odd. It was a bleak and strange film about how heroes and villains are indistinguishable, both of them bizarre freaks in a film noir world defined by entropy. The most notable character from "Batman Returns" was Catwoman, played by a vinyl-clad Michelle Pfeiffer. Indeed, the character was so popular that Warner Bros. semi-announced a "Catwoman" stand-alone feature in 1993, set to re-team Pfeiffer and Burton.
That feature never came together. The script, written by Daniel Waters, was considered too "adult," and by 1995, Pfeiffer had lost interest. For a brief moment, Ashley Judd was slated to take over the role, but she also dropped out.

Tim Burton’s movies have a memorable visual style that keeps fans coming back to them again and again. The Batman director himself was asked what makes his movies different and his response was unusual. Burton noted that even people who aren’t film buffs can sense his aesthetic.
Tim Burton’s movies take inspiration from a slew of oddities
Burton’s films combine some of the dark, distorted visuals of silent horror films like The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari with elements of fairy tales and Ray Harryhausen’s stop-motion creations. He’s also heavily pulled from Gothic fiction, such as the Edgar Allan Poe adaptations starring horror legend Vincent Price. While he usually makes color films, he still emphasizes black and white in his color palettes. Even when his movies have subpar stories, they’re usually interesting to look at, whether you are touring the spooky 18th-century woods of...

36 years have passed between the original “Beetlejuice” and its upcoming sequel “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” and the love for cinema emitting from the team behind both projects only seems to have grown.
Speaking to Vanity Fair, past collaborators Winona Ryder and Tim Burton, as well as newcomer and “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega, all shared similar views on the alchemy that was formed in the making of the new film.
“Once we started talking, and I remember it was on our third day together, the day we shot the scene in the attic, we never stopped,” Ryder told Vanity Fair. “It almost felt holy, like some sort of blessing from above, which, I think, is because we share the belief that film can be a kind of a religious experience.”
Ryder also said formed a deep, “sacred” bond with Ortega while filming “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” in London. For Ortega, it was a one-of-a-kind experience.

Jenna Ortega has achieved remarkable success at a fairly young age and is one of Hollywood’s most promising talents. From the chilling Scream series to the critically acclaimed Netflix show Wednesday, Ortega has consistently managed to show her cinematic talents. However, not all of her recent attention has been positive.

When Disney first got into the live-action adaptation game, remaking their classic animated IP with the use of ever-advancing visual effects, first with “The Jungle Book” in 1994, then officially with Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” in 2010, it felt odd they would not kick off the endeavor with their first animated film, made in 1937, “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.”
For the most part, many of these remakes, from Guy Ritchie’s Will Smith-led “Aladdin” to Jon Favreau’s photo-realistic “The Lion King,” failed to meet the magic of their source material. But they did rake in big bucks at the box office, and that’s all Disney needs to keep the factory churning them out. But after unveiling the first teaser for “Snow White” at D23 on Friday, August 9, the Mouse House may be whistling all the way to the bank.

Biographical movies usually celebrate the great people of history. In contrast, one of Tim Burton’s movies highlights an obscure figure who wasn’t very good at making art. During an interview, the Batman director revealed that he was a huge fan of the movie in question even though it bombed. He also said he would be willing to live in that movie, alongside two of his other projects.
Tim Burton made a movie about movies in the weirdest way possible
Great directors like Martin Scorsese, Steven Spielberg, Federico Fellini, and Bob Fosse have all made movies about the glories of making movies. When Burton made his crack at that subgenre, he took a different approach. He decided to lionize Edward D. Wood, Jr., a B-movie maestro who is often considered the worst film director of all time. Rather than knocking Wood down for making schlock like Plan 9 from...

The Humble Beginnings of a Master Emmanuel Lubezki is one of the most decorated cinematographers currently working, having garnered three back-to-back Academy Awards for Best Cinematography — an unprecedented feat and something of a victory lap for a man who had become highly sought after by the time the 2010s rolled around. Cinematographers often take the back seat compared to the directors they work alongside, but Lubezki has the privilege of both being a gifted cameraman and having collaborated with some of the finest filmmakers in or out of Hollywood: Alfonso Cuarón, Alejandro González Iñárritu, Terrence Malick, Tim Burton, the Coen Brothers, just to name a few. Lubezki started out, perhaps most consistently, as Cuarón’s go-to cinematographer, with their careers basically starting out conjoined at the hip; with Cuarón’s debut feature, ‘Sólo con tu pareja,’ in 1991, Lubezki was unleashed upon the world — only not quite. He would work with...

Tim Burton gave us some of the most visually striking movies in Hollywood history — and coaxed some brilliant performances out of Johnny Depp. Some of his films are rightly regarded as classics, while others are horribly overrated. Here’s a look at his five best.
5. ‘Alice in Wonderland’
Many Burton fans regard Alice in Wonderland as the beginning of his slide into mediocrity. They are dead wrong. Burton’s Alice in Wonderland is an emotionally affecting coming-of-age story about a young woman finding herself in a surreal world halfway between the artistic sensibilities of Walt Disney and H. R. Giger. As the Mad Hatter, Depp gives one of his most underrated performances, crafting a character who is both campy and tragic.
Some fans of Lewis Caroll’s Alice books have complained that Burton took too many liberties with the source material. That’s fine. There are so many Alice in Wonderland...

The enduring legacy of campy cult favorite “Ed Wood” is still celebrated 30 years later.
The beloved 1994 film was directed by Tim Burton and starred Johnny Depp as the filmmaker known for helming B-movie greats, most infamously 1959’s “Plan 9 from Outer Space.” Wood’s other features include “Orgy of the Dead,” “Glen or Glenda,” and “Bride of the Monster.” He was awarded the Golden Turkey title of Worst Director in 1975.

Earlier this year, we heard that Ian Nathan, author of Alien Vault, Terminator Vault, Stephen King at the Movies, The Legend of Mad Max, and books about filmmakers James Cameron, Ridley Scott, David Lynch, Steven Spielberg, Tim Burton, Wes Anderson, the Coen brothers, the Coppolas, Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, and Clint Eastwood, is teaming up with Creatorvc, the production company behind documentaries like the In Search of Darkness trilogy, In Search of Tomorrow, and First Person Shooter to bring us a documentary called Aliens Expanded, a 4-hour examination of writer/director James Cameron’s 1986 classic Aliens. Digital copies of that documentary can be ordered at This Link – and now it has been announced that Nathan and Creatorvc are continuing their working relationship with The Thing Expanded, a documentary that aims to be the ultimate companion to John Carpenter’s The Thing!
Copies of The Thing Expanded are available for pre-order through TheThingExpanded.

After Blumhouse and Atomic Monster’s M3GAN took audiences (and TikTok) by storm, plans to expand the artificial intelligence-centric horror property are in full swing with the M3GAN spin-off, SOULM8TE, on the way. According to Deadline, Evil Dead Rise actress Lily Sullivan will play the lead in SOULM8TE, a beautiful companion bot trying to help a grieving man cope with the loss of his wife.
In SOULM8TE, Sullivan’s artificial intelligence love bot becomes more when a man inadvertently turns the harmless droid into a deadly soulmate. While SOULM8TE is considered a part of the M3GAN universe, sources close to the project clarify that SOULM8TE is a more mature and risqué horror thriller. The project resembles ’90s domestic thrillers, such as Sleeping with the Enemy, The Hand That Rocks the Cradle, and Dangerous Intentions. Jenna Ortega shared her thoughts to Vanity Fair about the intersection of Hollywood and politics, mainly how the need for actors to be politically correct often contributes to their loss of integrity. The actor left the “Scream” franchise last year one day after her co-star Melissa Barrera was fired due to social media posts about Israel and Palestine. Ortega cited scheduling conflicts as the reason for her departure.
“The business that we work in is so touchy-feely,” Ortega told Vanity Fair about Hollywood. “Everybody wants to be politically correct, but I feel like, in doing that, we lose a lot of our humanity and integrity, because it lacks honesty.”
“I wish that we had a better sense of conversation,” she continued. “Imagine if everyone could say what they felt and not be judged for it and, if anything, it sparked some sort of debate, not an argument.”
“Am I describing world peace?...

So we’re getting a Beetlejuice-inspired bucket that will hold regular popcorn – but if you want to eat and drink Beetlejuice-inspired flavors, Keebler and Fanta have you covered. Michael Keaton’s Beetlejuice will be featured on the cans and bottles of Haunted Apple.

Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, the long-awaited sequel to director Tim Burton’s 1988 classic Beetlejuice (watch it Here), is set to reach theatres on September 6th – and movie-goers who check out the movie at a Regal cinema will have the chance to score a collectible popcorn bucket! Like Dune: Part Two earlier this year, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is getting a popcorn bucket that’s designed to resemble the sandworms featured in the film, but the design of this one is a bit less suggestive. You can check it out at the bottom of this article.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was in development hell for decades before it finally got made. In 1990, Jonathan Gems was hired to write a sequel that was going to be titled Beetlejuice Goes Hawaiian. Burton considered having Daniel Waters rewrite that script, Pamela Norris did rewrite it, and Warner Bros. offered Kevin Smith the chance to do another rewrite. He turned it down.

Wednesday’s earnings calls told a tale of two enormous entertainment companies going in starkly different directions.
Warner Bros. Discovery shocked Hollywood with a $10 billion quarterly net loss that included a $9.1 billion write-down on the value of the company’s struggling linear TV assets.
That came in stark contrast to Disney, which just hours earlier touted its latest milestone – a quarterly profit of $47 million for its combined direct-to-consumer business. And its studio segment was saved from potential disaster by the blowout success of Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”
While Disney seemingly turned a corner in its race to catch streaming leader Netflix, Wbd and its beleaguered CEO David Zaslav are staring down the barrel of a much-needed strategic reset — one that could involve selling the company or separating assets into different entities.
“Last summer ‘Barbie’ brought back pink but now Warner is seeing nothing but red,” said analyst Jamie Lumley at Third Bridge.

Johnny Depp has been known for his knack for portraying unconventional characters throughout his career. The actor has never been comfortable with being typecast in one specific genre. His films like Edward Scissorhands, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, Sleepy Hollow, and his collaborations with Tim Burton proved that he thrived through wild transformations and drastically different characters.

Bruce Timm’s new ten-episode series, Batman: Caped Crusader, has been receiving positive reviews. The series almost reminds fans of Batman: The Animated Series, but is set in a different period with uniquely different characters. Timm had no plans to revisit the series based on the Dark Knight and was discussing a different plan with his bosses.

Jenna Ortega is saying she “could have used [her] words better” when she spoke about changing lines for her Wednesday character and questioning the writers’ intentions in a podcast appearance last year that sparked backlash.
Speaking to Vanity Fair for a cover story that posted online on Tuesday, Ortega said, “I probably could have used my words better in describing all of that. I think, oftentimes, I’m such a rambler. I think it was hard because I felt like had I represented the situation better, it probably would’ve been received better.”
The actress previously told Dax Shepard’s Armchair Expert podcast that she got “unprofessional” when trying to make Wednesday Addams feel more authentic to her.
“There was times on that set where I even became almost unprofessional, in a sense, where I just started changing lines,” she said in part. “The script supervisor thought that I was going with something,...

Although Hammer Films was founded by comedian and businessman William Hinds in 1934 and the company produced films in a variety of genres, they’re best known for the horror films they produced from 1955 through the ’70s. The company ceased production as of 1979, and remained dormant until it was revived in 2007. Several productions have come along in the years since then, and John Gore, a 20-time Tony, Emmy and Olivier-winning entertainment producer who is known for his live theater company the John Gore Organization, stepped up to acquire the company in 2023. So the future of Hammer Films is looking promising – and with the company celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, Deadline reports that they’re teaming up with Sky and Deep Fusion Films to make Hammer: Heroes, Legends and Monsters, a 90-minute documentary that will premiere in November.

Jenna Ortega is reflecting on her infamous 2023 comments about pushing back on initial scripts for hit Netflix series “Wednesday.”
Prior to the Writers Guild of America strike, Ortega told Dax Shepard during his “Armchair Expert” podcast that she had to “put my foot down” and “started changing lines” that she disagreed with on set.
“Everything that she does, everything that I had to play, did not make sense for her character at all,” Ortega said at the time.
Of course, backlash ensued, from writers in the industry who, pre-strike, already felt disempowered.
Now, Ortega is telling Vanity Fair the full story behind her statements.
According to the actress, she wanted to be a producer on the show going into its first season. She is now a producer on Season 2 and collaborates again with “Wednesday” director and executive producer Tim Burton on sequel film “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.”

In a new interview with Vanity Fair, Jenna Ortega reflected on the controversial comments she made in March 2023 about changing her character’s lines on Netflix’s “Wednesday,” admitting, “I probably could have used my words better in describing all of that. I think, oftentimes, I’m such a rambler. I think it was hard because I felt like had I represented the situation better, it probably would’ve been received better.”
On a March 2023 episode of Dax Shepard and Monica Padman’s “Armchair Expert” podcast, Ortega said that many of the original “Wednesday” scripts made no sense to her from a character perspective, and that she changed dialogue without consulting the show’s writers.
She said at the time: “I don’t think I’ve ever had to put my foot down more on a set in a way that I had to on ‘Wednesday,’” she continued. “Everything that Wednesday does,...

I love me some damn dirty apes, and I’m not alone. Ever since the first Planet of the Apes movie in 1968, it’s been one of Hollywood’s most consistent (on a quality level) franchises. Think about it. Has there ever really been a lousy Planet of the Apes movie? Not really. Yet, it’s often unheralded when we talk about the great franchises. So, let’s look at the series as a whole, with this Planet of the Apes movies ranked list (from worst to best). And don’t worry – you’ll get to have your say tomorrow with a poll I’ll be publishing, so check back for that.
Planet of the Apes (2001)

The only manga series to do justice to the narrative of the Dark Ages, Berserk by Kentaro Miura has been an inspiration for everyone who likes gore, violent, dark, and horrific stories. The series has been sitting at the top of the manga world in terms of dark fantasy psychological thrillers, and it truly deserves the hype.
Berserk Manga | Studio Gaga
When Miura started working on Berserk, he put his mind and soul into the narrative, and he got the results that he hoped for. However, when he took his first step toward becoming one of the biggest manga creators of all time, he came across Evil Dead 2 by Sam Raimi, which was released in 1987. The movie almost crushed Miura’s dreams.
The manga creator once revealed that he was terrified that the protagonist from Raimi’s classic was too similar to the one that he created for Berserk.

A secretive project from JJ Abrams may just have landed its leading duo, even if we know next to nothing about The Rise Of Skywalker director’s next project.
It’s quite possible that we might just run out of internet when trying to list all of the projects that Glen Powell is attached to right now, but one of them is a secretive project that is said to be directed by JJ Abrams.
Plot details, even the film’s genre, are being kept firmly under wraps, although strangely, the confirmation that it isn’t a time travel tale is the one nugget of information we have seen floating around. Perhaps Abrams plans to slowly reveal the film’s genre by first periodically leaking all of the genres that it isn’t? Coming from the one of the minds behind the mystery-laden viral marketing campaign for 2008’s Cloverfield, we wouldn’t put it past him.

Exclusive: Jenna Ortega is in final talks, we hear, to join J.J. Abrams’ secret untitled movie at Warner Bros.
The Wednesday and Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice star will star opposite Glen Powell, who is also finalizing his deal.
Few details are known about the movie, other than it’s not a time-travel movie. Abrams wrote the script and his Bad Robot is producing.
That’s quite the blockbuster pair: Powell since Top Gun: Maverick and Anyone But You is seeing his latest summer movie Twisters barrel past $200 million stateside and $275M worldwide, while Ortega can get credit for having the latest Scream VI notch its best domestic opening ever at $44.4M and best stateside take for the franchise at $108.1M. Among all Scream movies on a global basis, Scream VI is the third highest-grossing pic in the series.
