Kieran Culkin admitted he had no idea what Home Alone was about when he and his brother, Macaulay Culkin, went to film it. He was only 8 years old when he had a small role in the 1990 movie, and his older brother was around 10.

Earlier this year, Kieran Culkin scored an Emmy win for Best Actor in a Drama Series for his stint as Roman Roy in HBO’s Succession. But before Culkin made it big in the realm of television, his brother, Macaulay Culkin, who rose to stardom at the age of 11, was once offered to star in one of the biggest sitcoms of the 21st century.
However, unlike fans of The Big Bang Theory, the Home Alone star wasn’t too fond of the Jim Parsons-led show and dropped the opportunity to bank on its popularity.

On a recent July afternoon, the ever-mercurial Tom Rothman arrives in good spirits for a tour of Columbia Pictures’ archives in honor of the studio’s 100th anniversary. “Ask a lot of questions, because after this, I must go back to work,” says Rothman, Sony Pictures Motion Picture Group chairman. “This is way more fun than getting yelled at by agents.”
Naturally, Rothman — one of Hollywood’s longest-running studio chiefs, who’s been in his current gig since 2015 and has overseen the most profitable period in Columbia’s recent history — starts off by noting the costumes from marquee franchise Spider-Man. By his calculation, the collection houses more than 30 superhero suits at the archive from various Spider-Man movies.
“I recognize this very well — it was worth $2 billion at the box office to us,” says Rothman, pointing to a suit worn by Tom Holland in 2021’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. Both that...

The Big Bang Theory was a very different show when it was first conceptualized by creators Chuck Lorre and Bill Prady. From the cast of the show to the idea, it was not as funny and bubbly as we see it now. One of its primary reasons was Kaley Cuoco’s Penny. Initially, she was called Katie and was written as a not-very-nice character.
Kaley Cuoco as Penny in The Big Bang Theory | Warner Bros. Television
Although Tbbt was largely popular for its nerdy cast and its unique scientific jokes, Kaley Cuoco was also an integral part of the group. It is tough to imagine a world of Tbbt without Cuoco’s Penny. However, there was a point where Cuoco was rejected and many other actresses were in the running to play the part. Interestingly, Marisa Tomei was also on the list.
What led Marisa Tomei to reject The Big Bang Theory?...

The consistent smart humor, accompanied by the iconic pop culture references makes its moments so memorable for the fans. However, another primary element of the show that was consistent to the end was the broken elevator.

Michael Jackson’s beloved Neverland Ranch is now in the path of a devastating fire. The King Of Pop passed away in June 2009 but this was his favorite place to be. Now, it is in the path of mass destruction. Keep reading for more details on what could possibly happen to the legendary landmark.
Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch In Path Of Devastating Fire
The one thing about Michael Jackson was that he never wanted to grow up. He befriended actors such as Macaulay Culkin and Corey Feldman as he always had this childlike wonder. So it made perfect sense he would purchase 2,700 acres of land in 1988 which would ultimately become Neverland. This was not just a home but rather a theme park filled with everything a kid could possibly want. There was a Ferris Wheel, a carousel, a movie theater, and a zoo. Many fans may remember Michael’s pet monkey,...

The Big Bang Theory has significantly contributed to the careers of the huge star cast that worked in it. Jim Parsons, Kaley Cuoco, and the others earned massive numbers and even rose to insane fame after the show. However, another popular child actor could also have become a major name in TV industry, had he not rejected the CBS show- Macaulay Culkin.

Kieran Culkin and Jesse Eisenberg talked, quipped, traded barbs and compliments and debated process in an hourlong wacky Tribeca Festival conversation tonight, having clearly bonded over A Real Pain. They star as mismatched cousins on a fraught road trip in the buzzy Sundance comedy set for fall release.
Eisenberg (Fleishman Is In Trouble) wrote and directed the film and said he’d never seen Culkin’s work before casting him. Or nothing recent. He acknowledged he’d seen Home Alone 17 times. The 1990 film was Culkin’s first feature. He played a small part alongside his brother, Macaulay Culkin. “I had no idea what the f–king movie was about” at the time, Culkin reminisced.
“You’re a magical person in my mind, because I don’t think I’ve ever really seen you in almost anything. And then, when I thought about you in the movie, I purposefully didn’t watch anything.

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the short-lived animated series “Gravedale High” (aka “Rick Moranis in Gravedale High“), which aired on NBC in 1990.
During the era of Saturday Morning Cartoons, there was always this idea by studios to build on a big star’s name by giving them an animated vehicle. We saw it with Mr. T, Chuck Norris, Macaulay Culkin, and Gary Coleman, as well as comedians like Louie Anderson and Howie Mandel. John Candy got (the still celebrated) “Camp Candy,” while his Sctv colleague Rick Moranis headlined his own animated horror comedy series for kids: “Gravedale High.”

Jenny Mollen’s and Jason Biggs’ next date night will likely capture more attention than usual.
The actors, husband and wife, on Saturday will attempt to revive a cable-tv mainstay for decidedly new purposes. When “Dinner & A Movie” debuted on TBS in 1995, it did so in an era when cable had yet to gain its fullest traction. A male-and-female duo gabbed and quibbled about movies such as “Breakfast Club” or “Fargo” and scarfed up gourmet snacks before throwing to a commercial. In return, executives hoped, viewers would stick around longer than they might otherwise. In 2024, Warner Bros. Discovery, TBS’ corporate parent, wants to use a retooled version of the show — off the air since 2011 — to throw a spotlight on everything from the company’s movies to the chefs from its Food Network.

It might be too on-the-nose to call Saved! a minor miracle of a movie, but how else would you describe Brian Dannelly’s faith-centric satire? Since it was released in arthouses and multiplexes 20 years ago this week, it’s remained one of the few teenage comedies brave enough to explore and critique the contemporary Christian high school experience without relying on broad fundamentalist humor, cheap caricatures, or treacly after-school messaging. Within modern Hollywood, it felt––and still feels––like a true outlier, a nuanced slice of religious life with a surprisingly deep roster of young indie talents that its creator still can’t believe was even made.
Set at a Christian high school, Saved! stars Jena Malone as 17-year-old Mary, a born-again believer who offers up her virginity to convert her gay boyfriend Dean (Chad Faust). The plan ultimately fails––Dean is sent to conversion therapy and Mary gets pregnant,...

Home Alone Star Recalls One "Wild" Night with Donald Trump After Shooting Sequel - Main Image
Home Alone 2 star shares the "wild" night he had with Donald Trump, the former US President, after filming.
The Home Alone franchise will always be that classic '90s comedy flick that sparks nostalgia on Christmas day. However, what makes it stand out from the rest is because of one particular cameo from Donald Trump in the sequel.
Before we get into that though, here's how Trump made it into Home Alone 2.
Explaining That Donald Trump Cameo in Home Alone 2

While that would have explained the cameo, helmer Chris Columbus said it wasn't that simple.

Macaulay Culkin, the actor who reached extraordinary heights of fame and success with his tremendous portrayal of the genius Kevin McCallister in his version of the Home Alone saga, actually shared a rather peculiar relationship with Michael Jackson in the eyes of the public. That being said, most fans may not know that this friendship actually started with a phone call.

As Culkin himself admitted it, the pair probably wouldn’t have shared the kind of close relationship they did had it not been for one “weird, random” call that the child actor received from the now-deceased King of Pop. And, although this may sound similar to the rumors surrounding Jackson’s alleged abuse of youngsters, that’s hardly the case, and Culkin stands as a witness to this claim.

For the second time in just under six months, a key piece of the Home Alone film franchise is on the market.
On Friday, the iconic Home Alone house from the first film hit the market. The Winnetka, Illinois home carries a $5.25 million price tag.
Last December, the lux townhouse featured in Home Alone 2: Lost in New York went on sale for a mere $6.7 million. That home is located on Manhattan’s ritzy Upper West Side at 51 West 95th Street, between Central Park West and Columbus Avenue.
The Winnetka home was fully renovated and expanded in 2018. But the owners kept the front of the stately brick crib exactly the same as depicted in the 1990 film, which starred Macaulay Culkin, Catherine O’Hara, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern.
The five-bedroom, six-bathroom house also has a movie theater and a sports court boasting a true 3-point line.

Turning into a cultural phenomenon following its release in 1990, the Home Alone franchise thereafter became the universal theme for the holiday season. Further, appearing in memes and other forms of media, the franchise became a huge box-office success. And certainly, the credit goes to its iconic cast, including Macaulay Culkin, Joe Pesci, and Daniel Stern.

However, despite demonstrating its enduring popularity through generations and making staggering profits during every year’s holiday season, Daniel Stern revealed a dark reality about the films. Recalling how he was stripped of his deserving salary, despite his co-stars getting eye-watering amounts, Stern mentioned how he had to fight with producers for his demands.

Orphan was released by Scream Factory on April 14th, 2024.
Murderous children is one of my favorite sub-genres of horror. Some are good, most are bad and a select few — including Orphan from 2009 — are truly great. Starting all the way back in 1956 with The Bad Seed, audiences have been captivated by the concept of children committing heinous acts of violence. Now, thanks to Scream Factory, we have one of the most shocking entries in the genre available on blu-ray with a brand-new, limited-edition slipcover.
Orphan Critique
Isabelle Fuhrman as Esther in The Orphan
Much like The Sixth Sense — and even Sleepaway Camp — Orphan is a horror film that’s primarily remembered for the twisted revelation at its conclusion; however, a movie has to be more than just its ending. Even knowing how the film ends, the rewatch-ability of Jaume Collet-Serra’s twisted tale is undeniable. The kill count is relatively low for this style of horror,...

In the article series Sound and Vision we take a look at music videos from notable directors. This week we take a look at several music videos made by Harmony Korine. When you watch a music video Harmony Korine made, you can immediately pinpoint them to what point in time he made it. His first music video, for Sonic Youth's Sunday (below), is an ode to teen angst, starring Macauley Culkin shedding the last of his youthful glow. It is very much cut from the same cloth as films like Kids, Julien Donkey-Boy and Gummo. Whereas the VHS-thetics of The Black Keys' Gold On The Ceiling (also below) fit right into the art school wannabe...

Michael Jackson and Janet Jackson’s “Scream” is often cited as the most expensive music video ever made. The director of the video hates this claim. He said that one Guns N’ Roses clip and another clip from the King of Pop cost way more.
Michael Jackson ‘Scream’ cost millions but it’s not the most expensive music video ever
Mark Romanek directed the music video for “Scream.” He also helmed the videos for Nine Inch Nails’ “Closer” and Taylor Swift’s “Shake It Off.” During a 2010 interview with Slashfilm, Romanek acknowledged that The Guinness Book of World Records claims “Scream” is the most expensive music video ever made due to its hefty $7 million price tag. Romanek said the book isn’t accurate.

More than two decades later, it’s hard to imagine anyone but Devon Sawa playing the titular role in the unforgettable music video for Eminem’s 2000 classic, “Stan,” but the actor has revealed Macaulay Culkin was the first choice to star in the visual.
“They went out to Macaulay Culkin first,” Sawa told Entertainment Tonight in a recent interview. “I think that they wanted him, and he wasn’t available, or didn’t want to do it or whatever.”
Thankfully for Sawa, Dr. Dre (who directed the video) was a fan of his work in Final Destination and suggested him instead. “There happened to be somebody in the casting office that knew somebody who was friends with me, and they called me that way… and it ended up working out pretty good,” Sawa explained, adding that the video was “one of the proudest things I’ve been a part of.

With multiple Godzilla movies and T.V. shows dropping this year, it might be tricky for fans to track them all. Here is a guide that can help! (Picture Credit: IMDb)
On November 3, 2023, Toho Studios released what many consider to be one of the best Godzilla films in recent times — “Godzilla Minus One.” Then, Legendary Pictures came out with their first live-action series featuring the not-so-gentle giant in “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” on November 17, 2023. They had also recently created an animated series based on King Kong called “Skull Island” on June 22, 2023.
With that being said — 2023 was Godzilla’s year, without a doubt! However, there’s a big difference between the Godzilla movies from Toho Studios and Legendary Pictures. Simply put, Toho owns Godzilla. However, Legendary Pictures secured the rights to the giant 500-ft lizard and other monsters in the Kaiju universe in 2014, ultimately coming up with a ‘Hollywood’ version known as the MonsterVerse.

When it came time for Alana to collect some of the money that should have been in the account, June shared that there wasn’t as much money in the Coogan as she thought. As more people learn the details of what Mama June did, they have found themselves asking what a Coogan account is. Here is everything you need to know.

The prop panel that Kate Winslet floated about on in James Cameron’s Titanic has sold at auction for a bank account-emptying $718,750.
When is a door not a door? When it’s a balsawood prop from James Cameron’s 1997 hit, Titanic. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, this curious bit of movie memorabilia recently sold at auction for $718,750 – that’s more than £550,000 if you’re reading this in the UK.
The door was, of course, the bit of wreckage Kate Winslet famously clung to at the (spoiler alert) icy conclusion of James Cameron’s epic romance. The prop clearly struck a chord with bidders, given that it sold for considerably more than other bits of memorabilia sold at the same auction, many of which sound more immediately recognisable than a battered door.

As Hollywood consistently churns out box office hits, it’s common for successful films to spawn franchises in pursuit of continued success through sequels, prequels, spin-offs, and many other ways. However, some of these sequels don’t always stay up to the mark. Following are several examples of movies where Hollywood’s pursuit of extending classic hits led to disappointing sequels.

The siblings have worked as actors in some of the most well-known projects in Hollywood, establishing their empire in the most iconic of ways.

Los Angeles, Feb 15 (Ians) Actress Kate Hudson has revealed that her appearance in ‘Home Alone 2: Lost in New York’, which released in 1992, still pays her residuals, even if she’s only earning a dime.
Kate was speaking on her podcast Sibling Revelry, hosted with her brother, Oliver Hudson, reports deadline.com.
During a conversation on her podcast, Kate discussed her credits with Joey Lawrence, Matthew Lawrence, and Andy Lawrence.
“I still get residuals from ‘Home Alone 2’ because I sang in the chorus,” Kate said, referencing the scene where Macaulay Culkin’s Kevin McAllister ruins a school Christmas pageant.
“I’m in that chorus, and then I get 10 cents every once in a while.”
Joey Lawrence knows the feeling.
“Sometimes I’ll get, like, 2 cents and I’m like, ‘Wait. Doesn’t the envelope and paper cost more?’”
The Christmas comedy film is directed by Chris Columbus.

Residuals aren’t what they used to be, apparently even if you’re A-list talent.
That’s what Kate Hudson revealed on her Sibling Revelry podcast on Monday while speaking about the minuscule checks she receives from her brief appearance as a child in the hit sequel Home Alone 2: Lost in New York. Hudson asked her guest, fellow actor Joey Lawrence, about being paid for his work in commercials as a child.
“I still get residuals from Home Alone 2 because I sang in the chorus,” the Glass Onion star revealed. “I’m in that chorus, and then I get 10 cents every once in a while.”
Hudson, 44, was a preteen when she filmed the brief, very early career cameo for the Christmas comedy, which follows the McCallister family on a trip to New York. In the scene in question, her little-known appearance comes as a member of a holiday...

John Hughes was the patron saint of adolescents who found great success with a series of hit comedies, most of them centering around the plight of teenagers. Yet how many of those titles remain classics? Let’s take a look back at 12 of his greatest films as both a writer and director, ranked worst to best.
Born in 1950, Hughes first came to the attention of Hollywood as a writer after penning “National Lampoon’s Vacation” (1983) and “Mr. Mom” (1983). That financially successful one-two punch landed him his first directing gig: “Sixteen Candles” (1984). A tender coming-of-age story about a teenage girl (Molly Ringwald) suffering one indignity after another on her sweet sixteen firmly established him as the premiere helmer of adolescent comedies, leading to “The Breakfast Club” (1985), “Weird Science” (1985), and “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” (1986).
Yet Hughes also excelled at entertainments outside the classroom, including the road trip farce “Planes, Trains & Automobiles” (1987), starring...

Of the many secondary characters in "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia," none has had quite as much interaction with the gang as Matthew "Rickety Cricket" Mara. The character first appeared in the season 2 episode "The Gang Exploits a Miracle," where fans got to know him as a former high school classmate of the younger members of the gang who had an intense infatuation with Dee (Kaitlin Olson). Called "Rickety Cricket" because he wore leg braces throughout high school, he had gone on to become a priest, but his reunion with the gang led him on a downward spiral that would lead to him becoming a drug-abusing pimp with burn-related facial scarring who lives under a bridge. Over the years, he's debased himself in just about every way, making "Sunny" fans double over with laughter in the process.
