The Supacell star on channelling his South London roots into a rising career.
“Wolverine is definitely hard to kill,” says Tosin Cole.
He’s been mulling over this. Cole is speaking to Empire during a morning off from filming mystery comedy thriller Three Bags Full: A Sheep Detective Movie (written by The Last Of Us’ Craig Mazin), in which he stars alongside Hugh Jackman. For the past few weeks, alongside shooting that, Cole has been promoting his Netflix super-powered drama Supacell while Jackman has been promoting Deadpool & Wolverine. So: the super-fight is on.
Cole doesn’t fancy his chances. “Michael ain’t got no offensive skills,” he says of Supacell’s time-manipulating lead. “Wolverine’s all offensive. Michael’s a very logical person, he’d be like, ‘He’s got three knives in each hand, he can heal himself, he’s very aggressive.’ So I think I’d just run away.

Bruce Timm’s new ten-episode series, Batman: Caped Crusader, has been receiving positive reviews. The series almost reminds fans of Batman: The Animated Series, but is set in a different period with uniquely different characters. Timm had no plans to revisit the series based on the Dark Knight and was discussing a different plan with his bosses.

However, his co-executive producer on Caped Crusader and long-time Batman creator James Tucker wanted to explore a show similar to Btas. Tucker was ultimately able to convince Timm to make a Batman animated series, citing one reason that piqued Timm’s interest.

JJ Abrams is set to direct his first film in half a decade, and there are reportedly hints of The Last Starfighter about it.
Just yesterday we covered a story which revealed some fresh information on JJ Abrams mystery project for Warner Bros. The director has a first look deal with the studio but hasn’t directed a film since 2019’s Star Wars – The Rise Of Skywalker.
That final entry in the hallowed space opera saga didn’t go down too well with audiences but given the mess that the Disney-owned Lucasfilm has gotten itself into with that particular franchise, it’s hard to point the finger of blame at Abrams alone.
The news that broke yesterday revealed that Jenna Ortega would be joining Glen Powell in the secretive project. Those are two big stars who appeal to younger audiences – not an easy thing to do – and Warner Bros will...

Scrolling through the coverage of the Tim Walz VP announcement Tuesday morning, I received a message from a friend, a prominent Jewish American doctor who identifies as a moderate.
“This makes me very sad,” she wrote.
The friend had already been teetering on the cliff’s edge about Trump, believing him a better choice on antisemitism for her family, which includes a daughter studying on a hotbed college campus. Kamala Harris, the Democratic presidential nominee, opting against Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro pushed her over that edge; to this friend, it was evidence the candidate had caved to anti-Jewish forces. And who’s to say she wouldn’t do that in office, too? “I didn’t say she was antisemitic,” she clarified. “I said that she could not stand up to those who are.”
I fought back vigorously.
Like Shapiro, Walz has been outspoken on antisemitism and the horrors of Oct.

Jenna Ortega found herself at the center of a little controversy last year when he said that she would rewrite her own lines on Netflix’s Wednesday series without consulting the writers. While recently speaking with Vanity Fair, she confessed that she could have chosen her words a little more carefully.
“I probably could have used my words better in describing all of that. I think, oftentimes, I’m such a rambler,” Ortega said.
“I think it was hard because I felt like had I represented the situation better, it probably would’ve been received better.“
Ortega continued, “Everything that I said felt so magnified…. It felt almost dystopian to me. I felt like a caricature of myself…. You’re never going to please everybody, and as someone who naturally was a people pleaser, that was really hard for me to understand. Some people just may not like you… and that’s entirely fine.

Despite a slew of rumors to the contrary, it looks like Anyone But You co-stars Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney will Not be re-teaming on Edgar Wright’s upcoming adaptation of The Running Man. This rumour had been picking up steam recently, with many outlets claiming an official announcement of the two re-teaming was imminent. Collider debunked the rumor with them noting unnamed sources as saying she had never been involved. While I suppose they could be wrong, I tend to take Collider’s word on this one, as it seemed unlikely the two would re-team so shortly after Anyone But You, despite them having said to be looking for future projects to collaborate on.
If anything, I can understand why this rumour started. The Running Man remake is set to be directed by Edgar Wright, who also has a Barbarella remake in the works with Sweeney. The Running Man...

The case isn’t closed yet. Another season of Presumed Innocent is on the way at Apple TV+, and details about the second round of the legal drama are starting to come through. Here’s what we know so far about Presumed Innocent Season 2. Who will star in Presumed Innocent Season 2? While a full cast list has not yet been announced for Presumed Innocent‘s second season, at least one star from Season 1 has declared he won’t be back: Peter Sarsgaard told IndieWire, “I’m not really that interested in sequels. I think I’ve only ever done one season of anything… I think I’m a one-season person.” Sarsgaard portrayed Tommy Molto, the prosecutor who went after Rusty Sabich in the murder trial at the center of Season 1. Meanwhile, Jake Gyllenhaal, who portrayed Rusty Sabich in Season 1, will return as executive producer alongside the show’s creator David E. Kelley,...

Jenna Ortega and Glen Powell are two stars who know a thing or two about legacy sequels. Ortega has helped spearhead the latest Scream reboot in recent years and is about to star in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, whilst Powell has proven his movie star chops with standout turns in the likes of Top Gun: Maverick and Twisters. But, according to Deadline, it looks like the duo are set to leave franchise fare behind to team up on the latest film from J.J. Abrams. Per the trade's reporting, Ortega and Powell are both in final talks to board Abrams' as-yet-untitled latest movie at Warner Bros.
It wouldn't be an exaggeration to say we know next to nothing about what Abrams is cooking up over at his Bad Robot HQ at this point, beyond the fact the Star Wars: Episode IX — The Rise Of Skywalker director has written the script himself and — as...

The original Star Trek series is still celebrated as arguably the best entry in the franchise. It established the tone and template of what the franchise should be with iconic characters as well as great storytelling. The series saw William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy play Captain Kirk and Spock and the roles became synonymous with the actors themselves.

Much has been said about the contentious relationship that the two actors had while shooting the series. The duo reportedly had ego clashes on set and never got along in the beginning. However as years have gone by, Shatner has considered Nimoy as the only friend he had on the show. In a 2016 interview, the Captain Kirk actor asserted that they were both responsible for what happened between them.

A secretive project from JJ Abrams may just have landed its leading duo, even if we know next to nothing about The Rise Of Skywalker director’s next project.
It’s quite possible that we might just run out of internet when trying to list all of the projects that Glen Powell is attached to right now, but one of them is a secretive project that is said to be directed by JJ Abrams.
Plot details, even the film’s genre, are being kept firmly under wraps, although strangely, the confirmation that it isn’t a time travel tale is the one nugget of information we have seen floating around. Perhaps Abrams plans to slowly reveal the film’s genre by first periodically leaking all of the genres that it isn’t? Coming from the one of the minds behind the mystery-laden viral marketing campaign for 2008’s Cloverfield, we wouldn’t put it past him.

While we already knew that Season 2 of “Presumed Innocent” will focus on a “suspenseful, brand new case,” Peter Sarsgaard confirmed that he’s one and done with the Apple TV+ series.
“I’m not really that interested in sequels. I think I’ve only ever done one season of anything … I think I’m a one-season person,” he told IndieWire in an interview published Monday. So it appears we won’t see more of his resentful prosecutor Tommy Molto.
Executive producers David E. Kelly, JJ Abrams and Jake Gyllenhaal will return behind the scenes for another installment, but what’s not yet known is whether Gyllenhaal’s character Rusty Sabich will be back.
With Turow set to return as co-executive producer, it seems likely that another one of his legal thrillers could be the basis for a new season, although nothing official has been announced.

Tommy Molto won’t be available to kick around anymore: Peter Sarsgaard says that he won’t be returning as the high-strung prosecutor for the second season of Presumed Innocent on Apple TV+.

As she prepares to unleash the Ghost with Most after decades of rest for Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Deadline says Jenna Ortega is in talks to join Glen Powell for J.J. Jenna Ortega is in talks to join Glen Powell in the new J.J. Abrams movie set up at Warner Bros.
Little is known about the project that was written by Abrams and will be produced by his Bad Robot, which has an overall deal with the studio.
Both Ortega and Powell were recently flagged as being a part of the “New A-List” by The Hollywood Reporter after surveying studio execs and producers about the most in-demand stars. Both stars are seen by the industry as box office draws, able to bring younger moviegoers into theaters.
Powell is currently in theaters with Twisters, which has grossed more than $270 million at the global box office. He is set to star in the Running Man remake from Edgar Wright.

Few movies have such broad "you had to be there" appeal as "Cloverfield." Released in 2008 after a much-hyped marketing campaign featuring title-free promos and cryptic web pages, the movie wowed (and to some extent divided) audiences with a prime bit of misdirection: it was a good old-fashioned kaiju film disguised as a found footage thriller disguised as a shaky cam home video-style story.
"Cloverfield" was made during a time when J.J. Abrams was known as the mystery-crafting maestro behind "Lost," not a polarizing part of the "Star Wars" universe. Director Matt Reeves, who would go on to make the emo-Robert-Pattinson-led blockbuster "The Batman," was then known for the college-set soap "Felicity." And while the film's cast members, including Lizzy Caplan and T.J. Miller, are recognizable today, they were mostly unknown at the time of its release, lending the project a "Blair Witch"-style verisimilitude.

The DC animated universe created by Paul Dini and Bruce Timm was not only the most influential corpus of superhero media outside the funny pages; it also raised the bar for comic-book adaptations to such an extent that not even the multi-billion-dollar-earning mega franchises nowadays could even come close. The foundation of Dcamu was laid by the pioneering masterpiece, Batman: The Animated Series, a timeless saga featuring the Dark Knight that seamlessly integrated brilliant character work, dynamic animation, iconic voice acting, evocative art style, nuanced, thought-provoking narrative, and an unforgettable background score by Shirley Walker, resulting in a surreal, poignant, and unmatchable experience. When Bruce Timm was later approached for further continuation of the series, he rejected the idea but agreed to use the original series as a groundwork for another Batman animated series, set as a period piece, which allowed him the freedom to utilize a number of unused ideas from the original series.

When Gene Roddenberry was writing the series Bible for "Star Trek: The Next Generation" back in 1986, he had several strict rules that writers had to follow. Most frustrating of these rules -- sometimes just called the Roddenberry Rule -- was that no episodes could center on the show's main characters having personal disagreements. In Roddenberry's view, all the workers on a Federation starship had to get along, or at least responded to each other with nothing less than 100% authentic professional courtesy. Writers hated the Roddenberry Rule, as they felt the best way to generate drama was by inventing interpersonal conflict. By deliberately taking away interpersonal conflict, Roddenberry was creatively hamstringing them.
Roddenberry also wanted "Next Generation" to be a cleaner, purer version of the original "Star Trek" he launched 20 years earlier. He wanted to be wholly in charge this time, and dictate every minutiae of the series. This often caused...

Many iterations of Batman’s life have come and gone, but Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski’s Batman: The Animated Series holds a special place in fans’ hearts. The series was the first project to come out of the Dcau, and somehow, they managed to knock the ball out of the park right from the get-go. Whether it was the storytelling, the visuals, or the voice acting, especially that of Kevin Conroy, Batman: The Animated Series has been hailed as one of the best superhero shows of all time.

Given its success, Warner Bros. executives wanted to revisit the series for the launch of their streaming platform HBO Max, now known as Max. However, creator Bruce Timm put a stop to that idea before it could get off the ground and his reason seems pretty valid.

Time is flying faster than Rhaenys fell to her death this season on “House of the Dragon,” which is to say, wow, somehow the Season 2 finale of the “Game of Thrones” spin-off is already upon us.
Despite multiple clips leaking on social media earlier this week after what HBO referred to as an “unintentional release from an international third-party distributor,” the finale (airing Sunday at 9/8 on HBO and Max) is still the most anticipated watch of the weekend that isn’t related to the Summer Olympics. In the penultimate episode, Emma D’Arcy’s Queen Rhaenyra was last seen gathering an unconventional group of dragonriders — including a blacksmith and a drunk — to set the stage for the finale’s major conflict with Aemond (Ewan Mitchell), who fled to King’s Landing when he saw Rhaenyra’s growing forces. If you’ve read the source material, you likely know how this will end.

Star Wars: Every Droid You Didn't Know that was Voiced by a Celebrity - Main Image
Droids have always been a source of slapstick and comedy in the Star Wars universe. While fans can’t see the person operating the droid, Lucasfilm does tend to cast some well-known faces to play the occasional bucket of bolts.
Anthony Daniels and Kenny Baker have already gone down in Star Wars as the most iconic droid actors, but here are some droid characters from the series that some fans may not have known were voiced by celebrities.

There are few modern animated TV shows as influential and as beloved as “Batman: The Animated Series,” which makes the debut of Prime Video’s “Batman: Caped Crusader,” its spiritual successor, one of the television events of the year.
The original series, which aired for 85 episodes beginning in 1993, was created by Bruce Timm and Eric Radomski and introduced a darker, more sophisticated tone to the afterschool animation programming block. “Batman: The Animated Series” introduced the world to Harley Quinn, a character that is now arguably one of the most popular DC characters, having been portrayed by Margot Robbie, Kaley Cuoco and Lady Gaga (in the upcoming “Joker” sequel). It also inspired the theatrical animated feature “Batman: Mask of the Phantasm,” largely considered one of the great Batman movies ever — animated or otherwise.
So you can see why Timm would hesitate to revisit his animated masterpiece with a new show.

Batman: Caped Crusader Rebrand Might Explain Why Penguin Is Now A Woman - Main Image
The new animated Batman series just put a different spin on a classic villain. Turns out, Penguin is portrayed as a woman in Batman: Caped Crusader, but why? Here's what voice actress Minnie Driver had to say about the inspiration for this new Penguin iteration.
Where Minnie Driver Got Her Inspiration For Gender-Swapped Penguin
Shock came to fans when the premiere episode of Batman: Caped Crusader showed an older woman performing on stage as she donned the signature tuxedo the Penguin usually wore.
As it turned out, their guesses were right: meet Oswalda Cobblepot aka the Penguin sporting the purple coat and top hat on stage.
The animated series depicts Penguin aka Oswalda Cobblepot beyond being a villain, as she is actually a mother who has to balance the dark nature of her work while looking after her family.

Director J.J. Abrams launched the sequels era of the Star Wars franchise, with 2015’s The Force Awakens. The film introduced a set of new characters who became torchbearers for the franchise’s overarching narrative. One of the newly introduced characters was Oscar Isaac’s roguish fighter pilot Poe Dameron.

The character’s arc and personality have been compared to Harrison Ford’s Han Solo. However, Abrams had to step in and address the comparisons and defend the new character from being dubbed a cheap rip-off of the legendary smuggler turned rebel pilot. Here is what Abrams had to say about Oscar Isaac’s Poe Dameron.

Peter Sarsgaard is more than presumably done with “Presumed Innocent.”
The Apple TV+ series, which also starred Sarsgaard’s frequent collaborator and brother-in-law Jake Gyllenhaal, was renewed for a second season in July 2024. While Gyllenhaal will return as an executive producer along with David E. Kelley and J.J. Abrams, there is no casting news yet. It is likely the limited legal-thriller series will be reimagined as an anthology series: Apple’s announcement teased only that Season 2 will “unfold around a suspenseful, brand new case.”
Either way, it will be without Sarsgaard as prosecutor Tommy Molto. The actor told IndieWire that he will not be appearing in “Presumed Innocent” Season 2, and instead opts to never revisit any of his past roles.
“I’m not really that interested in sequels. I think I’ve only ever done one season of anything… I think I’m a one-season person,” Sarsgaard said while promoting his upcoming indie film “Coup!.

This Batman review contains spoilers.
Everything you need to know about Batman: Caped Crusader happens in the opening credits. Sepia-tone shots of Batman glowering from a rooftop or skulking through empty rooms give way to images of the Gotham police office and gangsters firing tommy guns, all set to a moody, mournful score. Fancy art-deco script introduces the creatives involved, including producer credits for J.J. Abrams and The Batman director Matt Reeves.
Then there’s Bruce Timm, whose influence on the series is unquestionable from the moment the credits scene kicks off. Caped Crusader plays like an updated version of the great Batman: The Animated Series, which Timm created with Eric Radomski. Male characters may not have the same barrel chests and female figures don’t all have hourglass shapes, but the same linework and designs from the ’90s show is present. Each frame appears painted on black matte paper again,...

Plot: After a family tragedy, socialite Bruce Wayne transforms into The Batman, where his crusade for justice spawns unforeseen ramifications.
Review: The original Batman: The Animated Series is considered by many, myself included, to be one of the best cartoon series ever. It didn’t pander, it had an iconic look, it had voice talent that included legends like Mark Hamill, Rodd McDowall, Paul Williams, Michael Ansara, and as Batman the voice of the late, great Kevin Conroy.
Btas would be the forerunner to other iconic animated series like Justice League, Batman Beyond, and Superman The Animated Series. It would produce feature films as well, like The Mask of Phantasm. It would be the birthplace of Harley Quinn, who has become a DC live-action film staple. But she got her start here in the guise of Arleen Sorkin.
What I’m saying is that Btas is a hard act to follow.

Prime Video’s new animated series “Batman: Caped Crusader” isn’t a reinvention of Batman, but it is a fresh new take on Bruce Wayne and the heroes and villains of Gotham.

The first name you see in the opening credits of Prime Video’s new Batman: Caped Crusader cartoon isn’t Hamish Linklater, who plays Bruce Wayne, nor anyone else in the voice cast. It isn’t executive Matt Reeves, who has earned a fair share of Bat-credibility from directing Robert Pattinson in The Batman. Nor is it executive producer J.J. Update: The White Dudes for Harris X account is back up.
“After a groundswell of complaints to Elon Musk from the White Dudes for Harris community, our account was reinstated & we’re allowed to post again,” the group said this afternoon.
Ross Morales Rocketto, key organizer of the group, wrote that it was “funny” that after the call on Monday night, which raised more than $4 million for Kamala Harris’ campaign, “Elon Musk suspended our account as I got hundreds of insults and memes from white supremacist bot accounts that are still active.”
Previously: A White Dudes for Harris online rally raised more than $4M in donations in a matter of hours but then saw its X account suspended, prompting concern from organizers.
Among those to contribute to the virtual You Tube event were J.J. Abrams, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Josh Groban, Sean Astin, Michael Kelly, Josh Gad, Jeff Bridges and Mark Hamill.
“After a groundswell of complaints to Elon Musk from the White Dudes for Harris community, our account was reinstated & we’re allowed to post again,” the group said this afternoon.

A shroud of mystery swirls through the streets of Gotham as a dark knight rises once more. Batman: Caped Crusader has swooped onto Amazon Prime with Bruce Timm and Matt Reeves guiding its creative flight. Now launching its signature blend of action and noir into a new era, this revival event takes cues from 1992’s revered Batman: The Animated Series while sketching its own vision of the Caped Crusader.
Acclaimed director Timm returns to the drawing board where his iconic style was first developed. Joining him are executive producers Reeves, J.J. Abrams, and Ed Brubaker to rework Batman’s mythology with fresh depth and intrigue. At the helm is actor Hamish Linklater, bringing his own nuanced flair to the dual roles of brooding billionaire Bruce Wayne and his shadowy superhero split-persona.
