J.D. Vance came to Trump’s defense when confronted with the fact that the presidential candidate had dinner in 2022 with white supremacist Nick Fuentes, who recently attacked Vance’s wife, Usha Vance, a child of Indian immigrants. Fuentes said last month he doesn’t expect Vance — “the guy who has an Indian wife” — to “support White identity.”
“What kind of a man marries somebody named Usha?” Fuentes, who has often praised Hitler, said. “Clearly, he doesn’t value his racial identity, his heritage.”

It’s Day 20 of the Kamala Era but Trump World remains in the Before Times. Sure, the Let’s Go Brandon merch is being sold at a discount, but otherwise the mood in the non-swing state of Montana is very July 2024. Or July 2016. The ex-president is on his way for a rally tonight and the sound system in the parking lot of Bozeman’s Brick Breeden Fieldhouse bleats out the same seven songs, including “Memory” from Cats. The roughly 8,000 supporters who began queuing at dawn will hear the song approximately...

In his first sit down interview since stepping aside in the 2024 presidential race, President Joe Biden said that he concluded that staying in the contest would prove to be a “real distraction,” citing the comments of Democratic leaders on Capitol Hill who feared he would drag down other candidates.
Speaking to Robert Costa for an interview for CBS Sunday Morning, Biden said that the presidential race “would have been down the wire, but what happened was a number of my Democratic colleagues in the House and Senate thought that I was going to hurt them in the races, and I was concerned if I stayed in the race, that would be the topic you’d be interviewing me about. ‘Why did Nancy Pelosi say…? Why did someone?’ And I thought it’d be a real distraction.”
Biden added that when he ran in 2020, “I thought of myself as being a transition president.

Jennifer Lopez has a high enough profile that she can count a former first lady as one of her friends. Lopez and Michelle Obama have met multiple times over the years, with Lopez even joining Obama’s voter initiative in 2022. In a recent article about Lopez, many of her friends and collaborators shared what they liked about the multi-hyphenate talent. Obama shared what she admired about her.

Obama said that she admires much about Lopez. In the times they spent together, she took note of her beauty, drive, and talent. Still, she said the quality she admired most about Lopez was the way she uses her platform.
“The world knows that Jennifer is blessed with many gifts — talent, beauty, and an unparalleled work ethic,” she told InStyle in 2021. “But what impresses me the most about her is her unwavering...

Let’s just say that he’s got their back. Barack Obama recently released a statement about Kamala Harris’ new running mate, Tim Walz. Just this past week, Kamala Harris finally announced who would be her running mate for this year’s presidential election.
While a lot of people certainly did have their guesses, she picked Minnesota Governor Tim Walz. And for a lot of people, they think Tim Walz is not only the best choice, but the only choice as well. Keep reading below for everything you need to know.
Barack Obama – Just Had This To Say About Tim Walz
The former president took to his X account to write, “Governor Walz doesn’t just have the experience to be vice president, he has the values and the integrity to make us proud. And as we saw last night, @KamalaHarris and @Tim_Walz make a great team.”

Donald Trump kept his Montana rally crowd waiting for nearly 90 minutes Friday night and then immediately insulted the state. Scheduled to speak at 8 p.m., he didn’t emerge until around 9:30 p.m., and then he said, “I’ve gotta like Tim Sheehy a lot to be here,” mentioning the GOP candidate for Senate who spoke before him. Trump went on to complain that it takes at least “two hours” to get anywhere in Montana.

Actors’ Equity Association, the national labor union representing theater actors, stage manager and other workers in live entertainment, has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the next president of the United States and Governor Tim Walz as her vice president.
In a lengthy statement, Al Vincent, Jr., executive director of Actors’ Equity Association, made the union’s case for the endorsement:
“Vice President Harris has prioritized the needs of workers her entire career. Over these last few years she has played a vital role in President Biden’s staunchly pro-labor administration. We are excited for her, along with Governor Walz, to accelerate that momentum to enact policies that honor and protect all Americans. According to an insider, Meghan Markle’s birthday party is going to be so grand, it’ll stop traffic miles away. But as the Duchess turns 43, a royal expert has claimed that she means to direct her energy and time towards something a bit more political.
Meghan Markle – Will Reportedly Endorse Kamala Harris In Upcoming US Election
Meghan Markle has completed the filming for her cooking series for Netflix. So what’s in store for her as she clocks 43? Richard Fitzwilliams believes Meghan Markle is planning to wade into politics, regardless of the title.
He told The Sun: “One thing I do see that will come pretty soon, because of the election in the United States, Meghan is very soon I suspect to endorse Kamala Harris. And I think that’s absolutely pivotal, because there’s been speculation for such a long time that she might choose some form of politics.

(Updated with ABC debate confirmation, Harris comments) “We’d like to do three debates,” Donald Trump said today of meeting Kamala Harris face-to-face before the November election.
“I think it’s very important to have debates, and we’ve agreed with Fox on a date of September 4,” the GOP nominee announced today in a press conference from his Mar-a-Lago home in Florida. “We’ve agreed with NBC, fairly full agreement subject to them on September 10, and we’ve agreed with ABC on September 25 so we have those three dates and those networks,” Trump added.
Of course, Trump being Trump, the debates with the now poll-leading Vice President are not actually a done deal on all three outlets. “The other side has to agree to the terms,” the ex-Celebrity Apprentice host admitted. “They may or may not agree. I don’t know if they’re going to agree.”

Two weeks after announcing his decision to withdraw from a presidential debate scheduled to air on ABC in September, former President Donald Trump says he has reversed his position and will participate in the debate after all.
At a press conference on Thursday, Trump said he formally agreed to participate in the debate produced and distributed by ABC News, which is scheduled for September 10.
He previously agreed to participate in the debate when President Joe Biden was the presumed Democratic nominee. Biden, the incumbent, withdrew from the 2024 presidential race late last month, at which point Trump said he could no longer commit to the debate because the Democratic Party did not have a formal nominee.

During his iconic career at CBS News, Dan Rather was on the ground in Dallas moments after President Kennedy is assassinated; covered the Civil Rights moment and the Vietnam War; and was the only anchor in China’s Tiananmen Square before the crackdown on protesters. He also famously was roughed up during the 1968 Democratic National Convention — which inspired Variety to ask Rather, still going strong at 92 (you can read his current “Steady” columns at steady.substack.com), to reflect on that tumultuous moment in U.S. politics and how it compares to what has happened in 2024.
One of the hallmarks of a good broadcast journalist is the ability to roll with the proverbial punches during live events. You have to be a good ad-libber and be able to pivot, ready for the unexpected. Suffice it to say that on March 31, 1968, I was not ready when President Lyndon Johnson delivered a shocker.

Earlier this year, Harrison Butker’s commencement speech at Benedictine College in Kansas quickly became a hot topic across the country.
As The Blast reported, Butker, a kicker for the Kansas City Chiefs and teammate of Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes, gave a speech that quickly went viral—not for the right reasons. The NFL kicker didn't hold back, diving into sensitive issues like politics, the LGBTQ community, and gender roles. The controversy heated up when he told the graduating women they had been fed “the most diabolical lies” and indicated women should be "homemakers."
Just days after his speech went viral, Harrison Butker addressed the nation, standing by his views, and now, months later, he’s doubling down on his statements.

For years, Donald Trump has been obsessed with the size of campaign-rally crowds, viewing it as a prime indicator of his political dominance. He cared so much about it that he had his own White House shamelessly lie about his inauguration attendance, in order to make him feel better.
Now, in the final three months of an uncomfortably tight presidential contest, Trump is flipping out about crowd sizes — both publicly and behind closed doors — but not, primarily, his own. According to one Republican source who’s spoken to the former president in recent days,...

For the first time since President Joe Biden dropped his bid for reelection, former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has spoken candidly about her role in the party upheaval, and her relationship with Biden.
In an interview with The New Yorker published Thursday, Pelosi spoke at length about her fateful decision to publicly put a question mark on Biden’s future as a candidate during a July 10 interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

Harrison Butker spoke to local Kansas City media at training camp today for the first time since his controversial May commencement speech at Benedictine College.
Butker became a lightning rod for suggesting that some of its female graduates looked forward to being wives and mothers more than entering the working world.
The Chiefs kicker isn’t backing down from those comments.
Butker recently signed a $25.6 million contract with the Chiefs to become the highest-paid place kicker in the NFL. He is coming off a career-best season in which he hit 94.3 percent of his field goal attempts and was a perfect 11-for-11 in field goals for the Chiefs’ most recent Super Bowl run.
Today, Butker said he “respected all the viewpoints” of people who disagreed with his speech, which included criticisms of President Joe Biden and his handling of Covid-19, and comments on abortion, IVF, surrogacy, and euthanasia.

Update: In his first interview since dropping out of the 2024 presidential race, President Joe Biden said Tuesday that he was “not confident at all” that there will be a peaceful transfer of power if Donald Trump loses.
“He means it, all the stuff about, if we lose there will be a bloodbath,” Biden told CBS News’ Robert Costa in an interview today. An excerpt was shown on CBS News 24/7’s America Decides, and the full interview will air on CBS Sunday Morning.
“Look at what they are trying to do now in the local election districts where people count the votes, electing or putting people in place that are going to count the votes, right?” Biden said. “You can’t love your country only when you win.”
Costa said that the interview “was bracing, in his perspective, for a moment in time that’s just on the horizon, should Trump be defeated,...

The most coveted endorsement in the 2024 election is still on the table because, no, Taylor Swift is definitely not “soft launching” her support of Kamala Harris via a photo from her recent Eras Tour show in Poland.

Joe Biden has hardly disappeared from public life after deciding to step down from the 2024 presidential race in favor of Vice President Kamala Harris — after all, he delivered an Oval Office address on the matter and spoke to press immediately after greeting Americans who freed in an exchange with Russia. However, he has taken a backseat when it comes to media attention and has yet to give his first full interview on the matter… until now. The 46th Potus sat down for an interview with CBS News’ chief election and campaign correspondent, Robert Costa, on Wednesday (August 7), and the network will air the conversation this weekend. In a preview posted to social media, Biden cast doubt on Trump’s ability to accept the results of the election if he loses, saying, “He means what he says. We don’t take him seriously. He means it. Exclusive: Ghost Of John McCain, the new, upcoming Off Broadway musical satire that finds the late Senator in a very, very strange heaven, has found its cast for characters that include McCain, Donald Trump, Donald Trump’s brain and the just-added Kamala Harris.
An example: Luke Kolbe Mannikus, a handsomely baby-faced recent college grad with no fewer than three Broadway credits since his fairly recent childhood a decade ago, will play Donald Trump.
Jason Tam, who played the apostle Peter in the hit NBC Live event Jesus Christ Superstar, and starred in Broadway’s Be More Chill, will play John McCain, and Aaron Michael Ray (The Public Theater’s acclaimed The Low Road), will play Donald Trump’s Brain.
And reflecting swift-moving real-world developments, Zonya Love has just been added to the cast as Kamala Harris.

As the American political landscape drastically shifted and the Democratic party breathed a sigh of relief when President Joe Biden ended his re-election bid, his successor’s campaign swiftly began to take shape. Many elements seemed familiar from past election cycles — the canvassing and relentless emails or text messages, or both. But a July 29 evening gathering on Zoom presented something new in the presidential campaign cycle when it brought, as one famous speaker put it, a “rainbow of beige” men that counted nearly a dozen A-list Hollywood celebrities and major political figures among them to raise funds for Vice President Kamala Harris’ nascent campaign.
The “White Dudes For Harris” Zoom meeting was a feel-good, self-aware round-robin of famous L.A.- and D.C.-based men alternately talking about Harris with great passion (Sean Astin’s passionate speech stood out on this front); being a white dude (Jeff Bridges, “the Dude” himself,...

Former President Donald Trump appeared to be opening the door again to a debate with Vice President Kamala Harris that is not sponsored by Fox News.
Over the weekend, Trump floated a Sept. 4 debate on Fox News, and claimed that a previously scheduled Sept. 10 ABC News event had been “terminated.” He also wrote that he will “see her on September 4th, or I won’t see her at all.”
That was interpreted as Trump backing out of the ABC News event, as Harris’ campaign claimed that he was “running scared” and “running straight to Fox News to bail him out.”
On Fox and Friends this morning, Trump suggested that something was in the works, albeit he hinted that it would not be on the network.
“We’ll be debating her in the pretty near future. It’s going to be announced fairly soon,” Trump said. “I would like to see it on Fox,...

Social media users and fans of the pop megastar Taylor Swift are speculating whether the singer has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris for the 2024 U.S. election in a recent Instagram post.
Swift, who is currently on her European leg of the globally successful and record-breaking Eras Tour, posted a collection of photos honoring her shows in Warsaw, Poland, late Tuesday night. On the seventh slide, a silhouette of what looks like Harris is seen waving behind Swift onstage.
“It really feels like it should be a bigger deal that Taylor Swift left a shadow of Kamala on her Instagram post but I don’t really see anyone talking about it,” one X user wrote. Another said: “[Swift] is lowkey endorsing @KamalaHarris on @instagram. No public statement yet, besides this pic”.

If you were to stick a pin in a timeline at the exact moment Silicon Valley declared war on Hollywood, it would likely land on Aug. 29, 1997. That’s the date Reed Hastings and Marc Randolph got together in Scotts Valley, about an hour south of San Francisco, and started a little DVD delivery company called Netflix.
The rest is history: Within just a couple of decades, all the traditional pillars of the old entertainment order started to crumble. Linear television, cable TV, theatrical box office — nothing was left standing, at least not as tall as it once had. This we all know, all too well.
But here’s what’s new. Very recently, just over the past several weeks, there have been signs that Southern California once again is rising — or trying to, at any rate. This time, though, the civil war with the north isn’t over digital platform...

After several turbulent weeks in politics, “The Daily Show’s” Jordan Klepper checked in with Pennsylvania Trump supporters, who told him the assassination attempt was a “planned job” by anyone and everyone — including former President Barack Obama.
In an exclusive video of “The Daily Show Presents: Jordan Klepper Fingers The Pulse” shared with TheWrap, Klepper steps into the field for the first time since the assassination attempt to chat with Trump supporters in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania — the site of the shooting — about the event and the state of the race.
When asking rally attendees about the shooting, Klepper was met with a number of conspiracy theories, with supporters telling him they believe it’s an “inside job” and a “planned job,” with one noting “a lot of things aren’t adding up — it’s very strange.”

Philadelphia — Democrats packed a Philadelphia basketball arena to the gills on Tuesday, with more than 10,000 raucous supporters cheering on Kamala Harris and her newly named running mate, Tim Walz. In his first speech since becoming the presumptive vice presidential candidate, Walz roasted Donald Trump and J.D. Vance, as he declared that the next 91 days would not just be about winning the election, but doing it “with a sense of joy.”
The mood inside Temple University’s basketball arena was certainly joyful — ebullient even, bordering on orgiastic. Crowded together under enormous...

Donald Trump has taken his obsession with crafting falsehoods about Democratic presidential nominee Kamala Harris to the the next level, penning his own fan fiction on Tuesday about the vice president.
In a rant rife with misspellings and baseless conspiracy, Trump wrote, “What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden, the Worst President in the history of the U.S., whose Presidency was Unconstitutionally Stolen from him by Kamabla, Barrack Hussein Obama, Crazy Nancy Pelosi, Shifty Adam Schiff, Cryin’ Chuck Schumer, and others on the Lunatic Left, Crashes the Democrat...

IATSE has taken a swipe at Donald Trump’s vice presidential running mate, J.D. Vance, for the stage setup on his latest campaign stop.
“Here’s why you should hire union stagehands and stage designers,” the below-the-line crew union wrote in an X post on Tuesday, alongside the image of Vance giving a speech in Philadelphia.
Behind him, a looming sign reads “Kamala Chaos,” which has become one of several recent Republican campaign slogans targeting Vice President Kamala Harris. However, with people standing in front of the sign, only her first name is visible, leading some on social media to point out that at first glance it appears that Vance is campaigning for Harris instead of against her.
In the tweet, IATSE claims that Vance and his team did not, in fact, hire union workers for the event.

On Tuesday, presidential candidate and current Vice President Kamala Harris revealed that she has chosen Tim Walz as her running mate.
Harris announced she would be running against Donald Trump in the upcoming election shortly after President Joe Biden announced he would be dropping out of the race. While the current President of the United States, said it has been "the greatest honor of my life to serve as your President," he said he feels it is in the best interest "of my party and the country to stand down and to focus solely on fulfilling my duties as president."
Days after Kamala Harris confirmed her spot in the upcoming presidential race, Maya Rudolph announced she would reprise her Emmy-winning role as the Vice President on "Saturday Night Live" this fall, but who could portray her running mate, Tim Walz? Social media users have spoken.

Vice President Kamala Harris posted a video of the moment that she called Minnesota Governor Tim Walz to inform him that he was her choice as her running mate.
“Listen, I want you to do this with me. Let’s do this together,” Harris says. “Would you be my running mate and let’s get this thing on the road?”
“I would be honored Madam Vice President. The joy that you are bringing back to the country, the enthusiasm that’s out there, it will be a privilege to take this across the country,” Walz says.
The video mirrors one that Joe Biden posted in 2020 when he asked Harris to be his VP pick.
When I called @Tim_Walz this morning to ask him to join our campaign, I shared my deep level of respect for him and the work we've done together.
We're going to unify this country and we're going to win.

“It’s gonna be different now. They’ll never lie to us again.”
It seems odd to start at the ending of “Dick,” the 1999 Watergate satire starring Kirsten Dunst and Michelle Williams and now celebrating its 25th anniversary. But those final lines, spoken by Dunst’s Betsy to Williams’ Arlene, the teen girl duo whom the movie posits as the real political masterminds behind the Deep Throat informant that helped bring down Richard “Dick” Nixon, hit different when rewatching “Dick” in the current political climate.
“It always got a knowing laugh,” said director Andrew Fleming, speaking to IndieWire during the same week of the assassination attempt on Donald Trump’s life and President Joe Biden announcing he was not seeking reelection, instead endorsing his Vice President Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee.
“We knew at the time that that was meant to be a joke,” said screenwriter Sheryl Longin, who co-wrote the script with Fleming.

Every time America faces an election for President of the United States, all eyes turn to "Saturday Night Live." The late night sketch comedy show's timely, political humor that often opens each new episode has been rather stale over the past decade or so, largely thanks to the inherently laughable clown show that was the Donald Trump presidency being more outrageous than any parody could be. By comparison, the lack of easy targets during Joe Biden's presidency, other than the man's age, haven't done "SNL" any favors either. And yet the show persists in tackling timely political satire inspired by the week's headlines.
Indeed, the shortcomings of "SNL" haven't kept the show from preparing for the upcoming political brawl, with Maya Rudolph being brought back to play Vice President Kamala Harris alongside James Austin Johnson's pitch perfect Trump impression. However, we're still wondering who will be playing the...
