The Office star Brian Baumgartner is very different from his character Kevin Malone in the series. Baumgartner and the cast of the American version of the U.K. sitcom made generations of fans laugh with their antics at the paper company in Scranton. According to Baumgartner, some fans find it very difficult to separate the actor from his character.

Baumgartner revealed in an old interview that fans of the show still addressed him as Kevin on the streets. He understood the fans’ perspective since he was a great fan of the show as well. However, one particular thing the fans did annoyed the actor and it was related to his voice as the character.

When fans got their first peek at the lives of the employees of Dunder Mifflin Paper Co., Scranton, little did they know how much they would fall in love with the show. And initially they didn’t. While the first season has its own fanbase, it still received a lot of flak. But how the turntables.
Over the course of the next few years, the series mesmerized fans, who couldn’t help but fall in with the characters overtime. And Ed Helms has the perfect rationale for explaining how the writers got the character development right.

What made The Office the success it was, was how well it could make us fall for, and hate at the same time, characters who were total pricks.

The Office has given the audience many unforgettable Pam moments that showcase how great of an actor Jenna Fischer truly is. Moments like the iconic “Then it’s a date” scene in the last episode of season two is still etched into television history, but Fischer’s brilliance doesn’t stop there. Fans believe a standout episode in Season 9 was criminally overlooked by the Emmys, as the actor gave it her all.

Updated with latest: San Diego Comic-Con released the full schedule for its 2024 edition, which kicks off Thursday and runs July 25-28. The annual confab is officially centered at the San Diego Convention Center, but in reality it invades the city with its army of comics, genre, movie and TV fans and cosplayers looking for the latest news.
Following a sleepy Comic-Con last year thanks to the Hollywood strikes, this year is expected to return to its usual crazy, especially with Marvel Studios back in Hall H for a pair of events: a Thursday panel devoted to Deadpool & Wolverine on the same day it opens in theaters, and a Saturday evening showcase breaking down what’s going on the the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

NBC's "The Office" may now be considered one of the most beloved sitcoms in television history, but when the network first announced its plans to produce an Americanized version of the critically acclaimed BBC series, the reaction from fans of the original was far from joyous. Ricky Gervais and Stephan Merchant's "Office" was spiky and profane in a way that network shows simply couldn't be (thanks to their companies' Standards and Practice watchdogs). It was also narratively compact, running a mere two seasons and 14 episodes (counting the two-part Christmas special), which kept the show from getting stale. Most of all, it just felt kind of perfect (which Gervais proved when he tried to revive the series himself). A U.S. rendition stretched out over 20-plus episodes per season was bound to pale in comparison.

When it came to adapting his popular tabletop card game into the “Exploding Kittens” 2D animated series (currently streaming on Netflix), Matthew Inman found inspiration in an old girlfriend’s schizophrenic cat, who got so disturbing that a priest was called to exorcise its demons. The premise became the ultimate fight between good and evil when God (Tom Ellis) and the Devil (Sasheer Zamata) are both fired and sent to Earth to reconnect with humanity, trapped inside the bodies of two chubby house cats.
While Godcat is tasked with turning around a dysfunctional family through empathy, Devilcat, his next-door neighbor, stirs up trouble as the destructive anti-Christ. “When I got paired up with [executive producers] Mike Judge and Greg Daniels [of ‘King of the Hill’], it kind of all just came together and it clicked,” Inman told IndieWire.

Even before Covid made a virtue of isolation, experts had already been describing loneliness as an epidemic for years. Now that even the most social among us have had loneliness imposed upon us as a matter of public policy, it seems to be an issue that’s top of mind for TV creators to process through their work. Baby Reindeer revolves around two lonely people who find communion, by chance, over Diet Coke in a neighborhood pub; the disastrous fallout comes later. The titular Mr. & Mrs. Smith find each other in part because they’ve built the kind of lives they can disappear from without causing alarm to friends or loved ones who’d miss them. Ripley’s eponymous protagonist is alone by necessity: the kinds of short cons he’s running for his livelihood depend on his remaining anonymous.

I am not sure how many card or board games like Exploding Kittens have been made into feature films or television series. However, the idea is hardly objectionable, given the success of franchises like Jumanji, Pokemon, and last year’s hysterical Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. You have more hits and Battleship-sized misses.
However, Exploding Kittens is an idea that is a breath of dark, rank air. Executive-produced by great comedy writers such as Greg Daniels (The Office) and Mike Judge (Beavis and Butt-head), Exploding Kittens is the “what the f*ck” animated series we have been waiting for that reinvigorates the genre. I loved every hilarious, edgy, and subversive moment of it.
That does not even take into account how smart and savvy the series is by the season’s end.

Former Xbox designer Elan Lee and The Oatmeal cartoonist Matthew Inman launched the first “Exploding Kittens” card game in 2015 via Kickstarter and raised $8.7 million for the initial game in the first 30 days. Since then, they’ve released nearly 30 tabletop games and a handful of digital games and have sold more than 36 million games globally.

Parks and Recreation, created by Michael Schur and Greg Daniels, is an American sitcom which ran for a total of seven seasons. Starring Amy Poehler in the lead as Leslie Knope, who works in the Parks Department of the fictional town of Pawnee, Indiana, this show became a fan favorite for its impeccable storyline, comic timing, and an amazing cast. Other than Poehler, the show also starred Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Adam Scott, and Rob Lowe, among many others.

Once a quintessential comfort watch, "Parks and Recreation" now stands apart as a monument to a more optimistic political landscape. The series is an Obama-era comedy through and through: bipartisanship is possible and necessary, hope matters above all else, and the most malicious and clueless among us are typically confined to town hall meetings and election losers' montages. It can be tough to rewatch Greg Daniels and Michael Schur's documentary-style comedy in a post-Trump era, but it can also be rewarding: the jokes are sharp, the relationships surprisingly true-to-life, and the ensemble is even better than you might remember.
Still, even nine years after the show came to an end, certain universal truths about the "Parks and Rec" viewing experience hold true. Season 1 is bad to the point that it's often considered skippable, while season 2 picks up its slack immediately. The show is at its best when people...

The Office universe is expanding at Peacock as the streamer gears up for the highly-anticipated untitled spinoff from creator Greg Daniels and starring Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore. Helping to bring the series to screens is the original Office co-creator and executive producer, Stephen Merchant, who is being billed as an executive producer for the latest outing in the Office world. But don’t expect Merchant to be too hands-on in the process. “One of the things which I realized when Greg adapted the British version was that we shouldn’t get too involved because however much we know and love America, we don’t know it as intimately as an American person and the mechanics of office life in America and all those nuances,” Merchant notes of himself and Ricky Gervais, who created the British iteration in 2001. By the time the fifth season of "The Office" came around, the NBC comedy series was already an award-winning hit. The show had a huge fanbase, averaged around nine million viewers with each new episode, and it had previously won Emmys for Best Comedy Series, Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series for Steve Carell, and a variety of wins and nominations for writing, directing, and various supporting performances from the rest of the cast. But season 5 would bring a new challenge when the show was given a prime time slot following Super Bowl Xliii in 2009, bringing millions of new eyes to the series.
As longtime producer Halsted Sullivan recalled in Andy Greene's book "The Office: The Untold Story of the Greatest Sitcom of the 2000s," the pressure was on to make the show appealing to both dedicated fans and new viewers who had never seen the series before:...

For 13 seasons, the King of the Hill cast and characters entertained audiences, receiving critical acclaim throughout its run. When Covid hit a little over four years, Creed Bratton’s entire life shut down. He couldn’t play gigs, book any TV or film work, appear at fan conventions for The Office (he played Dunder Mifflin’s resident weirdo across all nine seasons of the show) or even see his granddaughters. Just about the only thing he could do was write songs, which he’s finally going to share with the world Sept. 27 with the release of his new LP Tao Pop.

A follow-up to The Office was officially given a series order by Peacock last month, and while Steve Carell won’t be reprising his role as Michael Scott, he did have some advice for new star Domhnall Gleeson.
Steve Carell and Domhnall Gleeson starred together in FX’s limited series The Patient, so when Gleeson was trying to decide whether he should take The Office gig, he reached out to Carell. “I know Domhnall Gleeson – who I did ‘The Patient’ with – is going to be one of the leads. I know that for sure,” Carell told Jimmy Fallon on The Tonight Show. “He’s an excellent actor. And he actually called me and asked, you know, ‘Should I do this? Is this something… Did you enjoy it?’ I said, ‘Of course.’“

The era of TV show reboots continues to captivate audiences, with new versions of beloved series like Suits and White Collar in the works. Now, an anticipated reboot of The Office, titled The Paper, is generating buzz. The fresh spin will star Domhnall Gleeson and Sabrina Impacciatore, guided by the original show’s creative mind, Greg Daniels. Rather than simply retelling the old story, The Paper will explore new narratives within The Office universe. Revisiting a Classic with a Modern Twist This isn’t just a typical reboot; it’s about creating a series that reflects back on the familiar antics of office...

Before taking on a role in the new The Office spinoff, Domhnall Gleeson sought advice from Steve Carell.
While appearing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the actor who played Michael Scott in the NBC workplace comedy revealed Gleeson reached out to him.

Steve Carell will not be starring in the new iteration of “The Office” coming to Peacock, but he did encourage Domhnall Gleeson to sign on to star. The two actors acted together in FX’s 2022 limited series “The Patient,” which earned Carell a Screen Actors Guild award nomination. Gleeson, meanwhile, was nominated at the Golden Globes and Critics’ Choice Awards.
“I know Domhnall Gleeson – who I did ‘The Patient’ with – is going to be one of the leads. Gleeson is headlining “The Office” spinoff alongside “The White Lotus” Season 2 breakout Sabrina Impacciatore. Production on the new series is expected to begin in July.

It’s official, The Office co-creator Greg Daniels has confirmed that the classic series will make its return to television. However, this is a full reboot (which is wise), so the new adaptation won’t be a recast of Michael, Jim, Dwight, Pam, or the old office crew. It also won’t revisit the stories of these iconic characters that warmed the hearts of audiences for nine seasons. Though this is a loose reboot of the original series, can a new version of The Office work in modern culture? It’s smart that Greg Daniels isn’t going anywhere near the original series because the...

The long-awaited The Office reboot is officially in the works. Its creator, Greg Daniels, is back on board to bring a fresh take, reportedly with inspiration from the rapidly changing work cultures and digital environments of today. The New Story Arc This new iteration aims to branch out by exploring different offices and work cultures, albeit within the same universe that fans have come to adore. While it still remains ambiguous if the original characters like Jim, Pam, or Dwight will return, there are whispers suggesting some familiar faces might make an appearance. Steve Carell’s The Office made generations of fans laugh with their simplistic but funniest portrayal of a paper company in Scranton. Neither Michael Scott nor his staff were the normal kind of office people, but the series tried to maintain the authenticity of the setting.
The Office creators resorted to one simple way to ensure this during the first few seasons. They didn’t allow any of the hair and makeup artists on the set as they wanted the actors to be in their authentic office worker roles.

Hollywood actors often have their careers reduced to one major role. Having said that, isn’t it compelling how an iconic character like Batman can bring an actor everlasting fame, but also conceal the breadth of their versatility? Val Kilmer, known widely for donning the dark mask of the Caped Crusader, embodies this paradox with remarkable grace.
Prior to making his breakthrough in the 1980s with roles in comedies such as Real Genius and Top Secret, Val Kilmer began his acting career on stage. The acclaimed sequel to Top Gun, in which he reprised the role of Iceman, has brought him back into the spotlight.

Despite his early breakthrough, Kilmer charted a different course, circling the universe of TV—save for a voice role as Kitt in the Knight Rider reboot and brief stints on shows like Ghost Girls and The Spoils of Babylon.

The new Netflix streaming comedy Tires is in the vein of single-camera sitcoms from Greg Daniels or Michael Schur. Yet, Tires is far from being on par with The Office or Parks and Recreation. In fact, this will probably be the first and last time the new Shane Gillis comedy is mentioned in the same breath as those classic sitcoms.
That’s because Tires is a poor imitation of those workplace comedies. At its worst, the new sitcom can be tedious, grating, and painfully unfunny. At its best, the series is something you have on in the background—a harmless, politically incorrect excursion. Yes, the jokes are on the hapless and clueless characters. However, that doesn’t make it good or mean its heart is in the right place.

"The Office" is one of the greatest television comedies of all time, which is probably why it's still one of the most popular streaming titles (with rights previously costing $500 million) nearly a decade after it premiered on NBC. Despite a few rough seasons in the back half of the show's run, the series still stands tall as a pinnacle of small screen hilarity. Those low points came after showrunner/creator Greg Daniels left the series at the end of season four to focus on "Parks & Recreation," and they got worse after Michael Scott left Dunder Mifflin (something Steve Carell didn't exactly choose to do).
With both of those pillars of "The Office" gone, the writers struggled to fill the holes left in the show, both comedically and narratively, by making Andy Bernard (Ed Helms) the new manager and leaning more into the family drama of Jim (John Krasinski) and...

John Krasinski is finally admitting to taking a notable item from The Office set on his last day of filming.
The actor-director, who played Jim, recently stopped by Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey’s rewatch podcast Office Ladies to reminisce on NBC’s Emmy-winning comedy series.
During their conversation, Krasinski recalled one of his final moments filming the show, when “evil genius” creator Greg Daniels took the cast to shoot a scene at Poor Richard’s dive bar, one of the characters’ favorite spots. After filming several takes, the Quiet Place star remembered walking out of the set for the last time and seeing the show’s crew all gathered together.
“I’m choking up just talking about it, but then when you come back in and see your TV dad and all of your family waiting there and clapping, and [Greg] said, ‘That’s the end of The Office,’ I...

Running for ten seasons, The Office, starring the likes of Steve Carell, Rainn Wilson, and Jenna Fischer, stands as one of the most impactful shows in recent times. The mockumentary, which aired a total of 201 episodes, captured viewers’ imaginations and still stands as one of the most streamed shows globally. Taking note of this popularity, a spinoff of sorts was greenlit for development and has now reached an advanced stage with actors from the original show opening up about their wishes and interests in a reprisal.

A major selling point for the show stood as the dynamic between Carell’s Michael Scott and Wilson’s Dwight Schrute. The blend of dry comedy produced by the duo still stands unmatched to this day. However, fans hoping to get a glimpse of it again may be in for a disappointment, at least partially.

That might be what she said but he’s got a different story altogether. Steve Carell says he has no intention of turning up on the upcoming follow-up to The Office and has stored away his World’s Best Boss mug for good.
Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Carell said that even though this Office series is set within the same universe, his time as Michael Scott is over. “I will be watching but I will not be showing up. It’s just a new thing and there’s really no reason for my character [Michael Scott] to show up in something like that.” That said, he still has faith in the project, adding, “But I’m excited about it, it sounds like a great conceit. I love the idea — I guess it’s set in a failing newspaper company.”

The Office spinoff is officially in the works at Peacock, and former stars John Krasinski and Steve Carell have shared their thoughts on the project and whether or not they’ll appear. Speaking with Entertainment Tonight at the premiere of his new film, If, Krasinski said he hasn’t heard from his old boss and Office showrunner Greg Daniels, but he’d be open to making a cameo on the upcoming spinoff if he received the call. “As of now, I haven’t been asked,” Krasinski shared. “But the truth is I’d do anything for Greg Daniels. It sounds like they have a really fun idea.” The spinoff, from Daniels and Nathan for You co-creator Michael Koman, is set to revolve around a dying historic Midwestern newspaper and the publisher trying to revive it with volunteer reporters. Exclusive: The Office co-creator Stephen Merchant has reacted to news that the show is coming back in the U.S., joking that it could all be based on Zoom following the pandemic.
Merchant was the creative force behind the UK Office alongside Ricky Gervais and will be an executive producer on the untitled new Peacock series from Greg Daniels and Michael Koman.
It will be set in the same universe as The Office and will star Domhnall Gleeson (Ex-Machina) and Sabrina Impacciatore (The White Lotus). Production begins in July.
Speaking to Deadline on the BAFTA TV Awards red carpet, Merchant said he didn’t know much about the new series. “They just make us sign bits of paperwork to say they can do it and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
“I like the idea … that it’s within the universe of The Office, but not necessarily in the same office.

The Office is coming back to TV. The news broke that the popular sitcom that played out as a faux reality TV mockumentary show will return after its massive success on streaming. However, this will not be the same Office fans watched years ago. Instead, it will be a new show in the same universe as the original series.
Here is what you need to know about the new The Office series and where it should air.
