The development of a television show is always kind of a wacky, potentially surprising thing, but the creation of the classic CBS television series "Gilligan's Island" is truly one for the books. Series creator Sherwood Schwartz, who would also go on to create the immensely popular "The Brady Bunch" for ABC, famously developed the series purely based on his idea for the theme song. In his defense, it's an earworm and it explains the entire backstory for the show, so it's basically perfect as far as theme songs go, but there were some folks at CBS who just weren't entirely sold on the concept. In fact, the president of CBS at the time, Jim Aubrey, absolutely hated the show and wanted nothing to do with it!
Eventually, it was Aubrey himself who greenlit "Gilligan's Island," surprising Schwartz and everyone who helped create the initial test pilot. In the book "Sitcom...

Diane Ford, a stand-up comic and Las Vegas headliner who drew laughs on HBO specials and A&e’s An Evening at the Improv, died April 30 of cancer in Sarasota, Florida, her nephew Wes Roberts announced. She was 68.
Ford also showed up 13 times on Fox’s Comic Strip Live and eight times on Jerry Lewis’ Labor Day telethon, which raised money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Ford was on the HBO specials Women of the Night II in 1988, Command Performance in 1990 and episodes of One Night Stand in ’90 and ’92. She made 13 appearances on Evening at the Improv and had three shows recorded for the BBC.
When Tim Allen was asked by Bon Appetit magazine which three comedians he would invite to dinner, he replied that one “would have to be a woman who wouldn’t be afraid to tell us if we were being full of it, and it would be one of my contemporaries.

Aubrey Plaza has rubbished speculation that 'Megalopolis' has endured a difficult production. The 39-year-old actress plays journalist Wow Platinum in the new sci-fi epic from Francis Ford Coppola and has dismissed reports that 'The Godfather' filmmaker was struggling to keep control on set amid talk of a high staff turnover and escalating budget.Speaking to Deadline, Aubrey said of the rumours: "I thought it was kind of funny."I would defend Francis all day long, but he doesn't need my defence. I think when you're on the inside of it, and you know what's really going down, it's almost like, 'Let them make up their stories and let them cause a big ruckus about it. Why not? Drum up some attention for the movie.'"I think it ends up, in my mind, all working for the movie."Aubrey explained that the opportunity to work with...

We don’t see Ryan Seacrest and his girlfriend Aubrey Paige out in public together too often, but they just posed for photos as a couple at a New York Fashion Week show!
The 49-year-old American Idol host was joined by Aubrey, 27, while attending the Naeem Khan fashion show on Monday (February 12) in New York City.
Ryan and Aubrey were in matching outfits while posing together outside of the show.
The couple has been together since 2021. If you don’t know, Aubrey is a model, signed with Genetics Model Management. She did her first modeling campaign with a big brand a few years back for Dick’s Sporting Goods.
Is Ryan ever going to get married? See what he recently had to say about one day tying the knot and having kids.

Just as there is periodically a glut of fiction films on a particular subject – vampires, restaurant kitchens, queer daughters developing a deeper understanding of their immigrant mothers, etc. – so it can happen in documentary. That filmmakers have finally turned their attention to the subject of fatphobia is a good thing. This profile of the author, podcaster and blogger Aubrey Gordon may reach people who missed the likes of Fattitude and The Body Fights Back because of its subject’s celebrity, but sadly it is one of the less interesting explorations of the topic.
Let’s get the obvious stuff out of the way first. Many people wince when they see the word fatphobia. Some of them are the same people who rush to find euphemisms rather than calling their friends fat (Aubrey much prefers honesty). It might wound like the ultimate ‘woke’ nightmare, putting people’s feelings ahead of their health,...

Spoilers for "Argylle" follow.
"Argylle" arrives in theaters this weekend (read our review here), delivering another action-packed spy movie from "Kingsman" franchise director Matthew Vaughn. Leading up to the film's release, there has already been some confusion surrounding the movie because of the source material that is said to have inspired the story.
You see, there's a novel on shelves also called "Argylle," released earlier this month, and it's written by author Elly Conway (not Taylor Swift). However, that also happens to be the name of the main character played by Bryce Dallas Howard in the movie "Argylle," where she's a spy novelist who ends up getting caught up in real-life intrigue and danger that mirrors the stories in her books. But when you seek out the details on the book in question, you'll see that the plot of the "Argylle" novel isn't the plot of the movie "Argylle." Here's...

Jesse Tyler Ferguson had a reunion with his Modern Family on-screen daughter Aubrey Anderson-Emmons!

“If you live in LA you really shouldn’t miss this incredible modern ballet. @matthewbourne13′s Romeo + Juliet is absolutely stunning,” Jesse wrote on Instagram along with a photo with Aubrey.

Jesse was in attendance with husband Justin Mikita and sources say that right before the show started, a patron tried to walk past Jesse in his row, which prompted the actor to stand up and jokingly try to start the “wave.” Unfortunately, the crowd wasn’t in a baseball stadium mindset so it didn’t work!

For a brief shining moment at the beginning of the 21st century, it seemed as though the historical epic was back. Despite the sniffs of some prominent film critics, Ridley Scott’s Gladiator walked away with the Best Picture Oscar in the century’s first year; a flood of sword and sandal epics invaded cinemas like the 1950s never ended; and it generally wasn’t a Russell Crowe movie unless the Australian thespian was waving a saber, cutlass, gladius, or other form of blade through the air.
Yet the movie which arguably stood tallest during this fleeting period was Peter Weir’s Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. Not so much adapting any single novel in author Patrick O’Brian’s legendary Aubrey-Maturin book series, Weir pulled from close to a half-dozen tales in this saga set on the high seas during the Napoleonic Wars. Often celebrated for their historical authenticity and verisimilitude,...

Daughters is Natalie Rae and Angela Patton’s odyssey documenting Patton’s program that empowers girls of incarcerated men yields insight through the subjects themselves — carefree tweens enjoying their chance to just be kids.
Aubrey, Santana, Raziah and Ja’Ana open up on camera about cherishing lifelong connections to jailed fathers some rarely visit. Their reflections on maintaining hope with imperfect parental bonds defy assumptions around what families touched by long-term sentences or flawed rehabilitation systems need most. Moments defending and questioning their dads in the same breath showcase conflicting loyalties beyond most youths’ years.
The lens of Daughters hands the mic to the girls at its center. Rather than a parade of expositional interviews, we witness the girls of varying ages and their suppression of anger over feeling deprived of fatherly support. Their vulnerability and confusion rings out through self-aware proclamations far beyond childhood. The emotional aftermath also means...

The title alone was enough to convince Aubrey Plaza to appear in “My Old Ass,” an offbeat coming-of-age story that was warmly received during its premiere Saturday night at the Sundance Film Festival.
“It all just made sense to me,” Plaza told the sold-out crowd at the Eccles Theater in Park City, Utah. “‘My Old Ass,’ I was like, ‘Oh man.'”
And when Plaza spent time with Megan Park, the film’s writer and director, and discovered her affinity for unusual means of transportation, Aubrey knew she had signed on to the perfect project. Park was sporting a life vest during their first Zoom meeting, a sign of her love of all things nautical.
“Megan is the only director I’ve ever worked with who Jet Skis to work,” Plaza said. Park also picked up Plaza in a paddle boat for their initial meeting. “She paddled over me,” Plaza recalled.

HBO‘s The Penguin is adding another cast member to its flock as Theo Rossi joins the upcoming Batman series. Rossi plays a key recurring role in the Warner Bros Television and DC Studios project, headlined by Colin Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot, or the Penguin. The eight-episode drama continues Penguin’s rise as one of Gotham’s most notorious criminals, from the chilling dancefloors of the Iceberg Lounge to the darkest corners of Gotham City’s underworld.
Cristin Milioti plays Sofia Falcone, a prolific crime boss who succeeded in taking Oswald’s empire apart piece by piece. Clancy Brown plays Salvatore Maroni, a powerful mob boss in Gotham City who disfigured Harvey Dent, prompting his transformation into Two-Face. The character has appeared several times in various Batman-related projects, most notably by Eric Roberts in The Dark Knight and David Zayas in Gotham. Another week, another episode of Aew: Dark which this week features a mere Five matches (music to my ears!) Anyway, on with the review…
Match #1: Dark Order (John Silver & Alex Reynolds) def. The Outrunners (Turbo Floyd & Truth Magnum)
My Thoughts: Well this was a decent opener! I’m not sold on The Outrunners, who currently feel more like a gimmick than a legitimate tag team, but they certainly held their own against Reynolds and Silver. Though the angle with Aubrey was weird…
My Score: 2.5 out of 5 Match #2: Riho def. Diamante
My Thoughts: Damn! This was a fantastic match. Diamante had an actual decent opponent in Riho – after all, she’s been demolishing enhancement talent on Aew’s YouTube shows for a while now (in both singles and tag matches) so this was really refreshing! This should be run back on Rampage Imho.
My Score: 4 out of 5 Match #3: Sonny Kiss def.
