The eagerly anticipated third installment of James Cameron’s Avatar series has finally been given an official title: Avatar: Fire and Ash. The announcement was made during the D23 Expo, where Cameron, along with stars Zoe Saldana and Sam Worthington, revealed the title and shared some insights into the upcoming film.
Although no footage was shown, Cameron did present some intriguing concept art from the movie, featuring Neytiri (played by Zoe Saldana) dancing amid flames and riding the iconic banshees of Pandora. The director teased that Fire and Ash would delve deeper into the world of Pandora, showcasing parts of the alien moon that audiences have never seen before. He emphasized that the film would be a visually stunning adventure, but also one with “very high emotional stakes,” promising a challenging journey for the characters that fans have grown to love.

James Cameron is the unquestioned king of the box office. Three of the biggest movies of all time, "Avatar," "Avatar: The Way of Water," and "Titanic," were all directed by him. Were it not for 2019's "Avengers: Endgame," he would own the top three all by his lonesome. But it's his 2009 sci-fi epic "Avatar" that stands alone as the biggest box office hit in cinema history, with $2.92 billion to its name. So, if you were in that movie, it did wonders for our career. Stephen Lang was one of those lucky cast members, playing the evil military man Quaritch. It turns out, this wasn't his first brush with one of Cameron's sci-fi masterpieces.
In a 2022 oral history on Cameron's career by The Ringer, Lang explained that he had first auditioned for the director when he was making 1987's "Aliens." At the time, Lang was just getting his start, having starred...

Exclusive: Bestselling South African scribe Deon Meyer is turning his Last Of Us-esque thriller Fever into a TV series with Federation Meac.
The adaptation, which doesn’t yet have a buyer, is part of a three-project deal struck between Meyer’s Scenne23 and the Federation Studios label, with Meyer set to pen the series himself.
Fever follows Nico Storm and his father Willem, who are the few in South Africa to have survived a devastating virus that wiped out more than 90% of the world’s population. Willem, a thinker and a leader, has a vision for a new community rebuilt from the ruins of the old world, and so Amanzi is formed with a disparate group of survivors. Killing Eve producer Sid Gentle optioned the novel five years ago but that option has run down.

American producer behind the blockbuster films Titanic and Avatar admired as a tough trouble-shooter
Three of the highest grossing films of all time – Titanic (1997), Avatar (2009) and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water (2022) – were produced by Jon Landau, who has died aged 63 of cancer. Asked to define his relationship with James Cameron, who wrote and directed all three, Landau said: “Jim dreams the dreams and it’s my job to make them a reality.”
Landau’s own dreams during the shooting of Titanic were more like nightmares. In one, he dreamed that the production’s colossal replica of the ill-fated ship was built entirely from toothpicks, and began to collapse under the weight of all the passengers.

It is a sad day for fans of James Cameron’s work as one of his long-time collaborators, producer Jon Landau, has passed away at the age of 63. Landau had apparently been battling cancer for some time and finally succumbed to the illness.
James Cameron himself took to the official Avatar Twitter/X account and made the following statement:
“The Avatar family grieves the loss of our friend and leader, Jon Landau. His zany humor, personal magnetism, great generosity of spirit and fierce will have held the center of our Avatar universe for almost two decades. His legacy is not just the films he produced, but the personal example he set — indomitable, caring, inclusive, tireless, insightful and utterly unique.“
“He produced great films, not by wielding power but by spreading warmth and the joy of making cinema. He inspired us all to be and to bring our best, every day.

James Cameron has indeed established himself as one of the greatest industry moguls of this era, having helmed projects like the blockbuster Avatar saga and the forever fan-beloved masterpiece Titanic. However, such incredible success would, perhaps, not have been delivered so smoothly to the mastermind had it not been for one other genius brain behind it all: Jon Landau.

Hollywood producer Jon Landau has died at age 63. He and Cameron also shared a 1998 Best Picture Oscar for Titanic. Landau died on Friday, July 5, after a 16-month fight against cancer, according to Deadline. After getting his start in Hollywood as a production manager on films like F/X and Manhunter, Landau became a producer, working on films like Honey, I Shrunk the Kids and Dick Tracy. He then became a 20th Century Fox executive vice president at age 29 and oversaw films like Home Alone, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Speed.

The Way of Water“ gegenüberzusitzen. Einem Mann, der nicht nur mit seinem enorm bescheidenen Auftreten glänzte. Sondern vor allem mit ansteckender Begeisterung, mit Offenheit und Humor.

Kate Winslet remembered her Titanic and Avatar: The Way of Water producer Jon Landau following the news of his death at age 63, exclaiming that “his passion for filmmaking only deepened with age.”
Winslet said she’s known Landau “since I was 20 years old.” The British actress, who prior to Titanic was known for arthouse films like Sense and Sensibility and Heavenly Creatures, rocketed to blockbuster stardom with the Landau produced, James Cameron directed 1997 movie about the doomed ocean liner, which for a while, became the highest grossing movie ever at $2.2 billion (that title would cede to Cameron’s Avatar at $2.92 billion). Titanic earned Winslet her second career Oscar nomination/first Best Actress nom. In Titanic, Winslet played the upper crust passenger Rose DeWitt Bukater. Though engaged to rich guy Caledon “Cal” Hockley, Rose falls for Leonardo DiCaprio’s poor artist, Jack Dawson, while on board.

On the first day of production on the New Zealand location of “Avatar: The Way of Water,” actor Cliff Curtis asked if he could bring his family to the film’s home base to give a traditional blessing. Curtis showed up with 43 people and led an elaborate Maori blessing in front of the entire crew, then gave gifts to the crew members. Producer Jon Landau’s gift was a carved wooden oar — as Landau told TheWrap a couple of years later, “It was to help steer the ship as we were going into production. I still have it hanging on my wall.”
In the wild world of James Cameron’s films, steering the ship was the job of Jon Landau, who died on Friday at the age of 63. Cameron may have been the obsessive visionary — brilliant, driven and meticulous — but Landau was his absolutely vital right-hand man.

Landau was born in 1960 and was the son of film producers Ely and Edie Landau. After attending USC's School of Cinematic Arts, he became the Executive Vice President of Feature Film Production at 20th Century Fox in the 1990s. That brought him into Cameron's orbit and they subsequently became longtime collaborators and close friends.
The veteran producer made history with both Titanic (the first movie to gross $1 billion at the worldwide box office) and Avatar.
Landau also oversaw movies like Solaris, Honey, I Shrunk the Kids, and Dick Tracy.
More recently, he played a pivotal role in expanding the Avatar franchise with both multiple sequels and the opening of the ultra-immersive Pandora in Florida's Walt Disney World.

Jon Landau, the long-time producing partner of James Cameron and the COO of Lightstorm Entertainment, has died at only 63 years old. According to The Wrap, the producer had been fighting cancer for some time. Landau, of course, has always been regarded as one of the most cutting-edge producers in town, with him having won an Oscar for producing James Cameron’s Titanic. Through his work with the director, he also produced Avatar and its sequel, Avatar: The Way of Water, as well as Alita Battle Angel. He’s always been known as a tireless steward of the Avatar series, with him having been on board to produce the third, fourth and fifth films, which are now in production.

Jon Landau, the Oscar-winning producer who made the dreams of James Cameron come to life by overcoming extreme logistical challenges to bring the filmmaker’s Titanic and Avatar blockbusters to the big screen, has died. He was 63.
Landau’s son Jamie Landau confirmed his death to The Hollywood Reporter. He died Friday in Los Angeles after 16-month battle with cancer, a Disney spokesperson said.
A son of producers — his father was an Oscar nominee — the passionate Landau produced films including Honey, I Shrunk the Kids (1989) and Dick Tracy (1990) before spending some five years as an executive at Fox, where he oversaw production on Die Hard 2 (1990), The Last of the Mohicans (1992), Mrs. Doubtfire (1993) and Cameron’s True Lies (1994).
If Cameron had a problem on Arnold Schwarzenegger’s True Lies, he was told by then-Fox Filmed Entertainment head Peter Chernin, “Don’t call me, deal with Jon,” Landau recalled in a 2011 interview.

Jon Landau, the Oscar-winning producer of “Titanic” and both “Avatar” movies, died of cancer on Friday, July 5. He was 63.
Landau, a longtime producing partner to James Cameron, was behind three of the top four highest-grossing movies of all time. Landau helped make history with “Titanic,” the first film to cross $1 billion at the global box office. He topped that movie’s record-breaking grosses twice, with 2009’s “Avatar” and its sequel, 2022’s “Avatar: The Way of Water.”
Before his death, Landau was deeply involved in the production of the “Avatar” sequels. Cameron is planning to fill his blockbuster sci-fi franchise with five movies in total, with the fifth tentatively coming out in 2031.
Speaking to Variety at the “Way of Water” premiere, Landau recalled screening the movie for the principal cast. “When I saw them tearing up, I had to tear up,” he said.

Bruce Springsteen, “The Boss,” is one of the best rock singers in history. A pioneer of rock music, Springsteen has contributed to several subgenres of rock, with his music and his lyrics portraying the life and troubles of the “common people” in the United States. And while his music is undoubtedly majestic, his lyrics generally had a social note that made him stand out among the tough competition in the rock music market. Now, when Hollywood is actually making a lot of musical biopics, the time has come to make a film about Bruce Springsteen as well, and we already have some interesting casting updates.
The movie is going to be titled Deliver Me From Nowhere and will actually focus on the process of making Springsteen’s 1982 album Nebraska, which means that it will portray both the musician and his longtime manager, Jon Landau.
