Considering The Bold and the Beautiful takes place in Los Angeles, the beach as a location is underused. Recently, many of its stars gathered together on the shore to celebrate important birthdays and remind us just how much we love them and the show!
Pics From the Magic Hour Were Shared
Recently, the supervising producer for B&b, Casey Kasprzyk, posted some photos of him and several cast and crew members on the beach for a special occasion. He captioned them, “Capturing magic hour vibes while celebrating @jennifergareis and @katherinekellylang birthdays on the beach!” The magic hour, of course, is the hour before sunset, and you can clearly see it setting in the pics. Jacqueline MacInnes Wood (Steffy) enthusiastically responded with, “❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ such a fun day!!! Happy birthday Kelly and Jen!!!”

"Can Stephen King scare even himself? Has the author of 'Carrie,' 'The Shining,' 'Cujo,' and 'Christine' ever conceived a story so horrifying that he was for a time unwilling to finish writing it? Yes. This is it." So said the book jacket for "Pet Sematary," Stephen King's modern gothic horror novel about a burial ground that raises the dead. It was a great hook — the master of horror had written something so damn scary that even he was scared of it! But was such a claim accurate — or just good marketing material? The truth lies somewhere in the middle.
Published in 1983, "Pet Sematary" is one of King's most popular novels, and its concept of a cursed graveyard that brings the dead back to life has been fully ingrained into the public consciousness. If someone a mentions a "pet cemetery" in any context, there's...

Curiously, the book alluded to in the headline is not "Christine," the novel Stephen King published in 1983. "Christine" follows a young man named Arnie who buys a disused 1958 Plymouth Fury and decides to fix it up. The car, however, begins asserting an eerie influence over Artie, turning him into a defiant 1950s greaser. He names the car Christine, and it soon begins acting with a mind of its own, chasing down anyone who would do Artie harm. Christine is a jealous girlfriend that feeds on Arnie's affection.
Celebrated director John Carpenter famously adapted "Christine" to the big screen the same year as its publication, and many of Carpenter's eerie visuals are still scary to this day. The scene where Christine "grows back" after being smashed up by bullies is a sequence on par with the werewolf transformation scene in George Waggner's 1941 classic "The Wolf Man." The 1980s was a conservative time,...

When it comes to sending chills down the spine & conjuring nightmares (that linger in broad daylight), could anyone surpass the eerie craftsmanship of Stephen King? Well, this is not a hard question! Grasping the reins of horror with the skill of a seasoned charioteer, this Maine-born maestro has been transforming our fears into a cacophony of terror since his debut, Carrie, set foot in the literary arena back in 1974.
King’s quill, dipped in the ink of the supernatural & the macabre, has sketched out thrilling geographies where cars like Christine (from his same-titled novel) develop deadly minds of their own, and hotels like The Overlook from The Shining become characters as complex as any human.

Stephen King's short story "Children of the Corn" was first published in the March 1977 issue of Penthouse Magazine, and later published in the author's 1978 anthology "Night Shift." The story was about a small town in Nebraska that had been overrun by an eerie cult of killer children. They worship a demonic deity called He Who Walks Behind the Rows and commit regular acts of human sacrifice. A pair of itinerant Californians run afoul of the cult and are killed by their rituals.
As Stephen King stories go, "Corn" is straightforward and simple. It's astonishing to think that it spawned eleven feature films and a short. Fritz Kiersch's 1984 horror film "Children of the Corn" was the second adaptation, coming after the relatively obscure short film "Disciples of the Crow" in 1983. Kiersch's film would see eight direct-ish sequels, and two remakes in 2009 and 2020. Most of the "Corn" films are weird and/or bad,...

When it comes to sheer volume of movie adaptations under their belt, it's tough to find a working author with more cinematic dominance than Stephen King. The horror master continues to pump out new books on a yearly basis, and Hollywood keeps pace with movie after movie based on his best, most popular, and -– after years of mining from the cream of the crop –- even just-okay-est works. As of publication time, there are currently about a dozen King adaptations reportedly in the works, including Lynne Ramsay's spin on "The Girl Who Loved Tom Gordon," Bryan Fuller's "Christine" remake, Osgood Perkins' "The Monkey," and the long-awaited "Salem's Lot" revamp from Gary Dauberman and Warner Bros.
At some point in the future, it seems likely that every King work ever written will get the big or small screen treatment. However, there's one book that's been absent from fan...

A series set inside the prison Arkham Asylum within Matt Reeves’ “The Batman” universe will no longer move forward for Max, an individual with knowledge of the decision told IndieWire.
Antonio Campos, the director known for “Christine,” “The Devil All the Time,” and the Max series “The Staircase,” was previously tapped to be showrunner and director of the Arkham Asylum series. However, Campos is no longer involved, and his version of the series will not come to pass. The individual says it’s possible a different Arkham Asylum series could still happen down the road, including one set within the universe established by Reeves’ film. But Campos’ version is dead.
A rep for Max had no comment.

Stephen King has been a one-man fear-exploiting factory since the Nixon administration. He just celebrated the 50th publication anniversary of "Carrie" last April, and released a new collection of short stories, "You Like It Darker" a month ago. The 76-year-old author shows no signs of slowing down, and if you ask his legion of fans, they'll tell you that, while he's had his peaks and lulls, there's been no sustained fall-off in quality throughout his career. You might not spark to all of his books, but sooner or later the King of Horror will once again scare the holy hell out of you.
While some of his stories dredge up universal dreads like the end of the world ("The Stand"), the boogeyman and s***-weasels ("Dreamcatcher"), he's got a knack for training his macabre sights on a specific phobias. It's...

Peter Finch won a posthumous Oscar for his uproarious performance as a swivel-eyed news anchor – a cross between Billy Graham and Donald Trump
‘The time has come to say … is ‘dehumanisation’ such a bad word?” The speaker is Howard Beale, the sweat-drenched, swivel-eyed TV news anchor in this classic 1976 satire from screenwriter Paddy Chayevsky and director Sidney Lumet, now on rerelease. Depressed by the loss of his wife and by getting fired due to dwindling audiences, Beale proclaims he will kill himself live on air and is then re-hired as a colossal popular and then populist success, his celebrity delirium turning him into a crazy prophet, telling millions of Americans to scream out of the window that they are as mad as hell and not going to take it any more. Beale is a mixture of Billy Graham, radio star Orson Welles telling America the Martians are coming, and that notorious ratings-obsessive Donald Trump.

Image Source: Shout Factory John Carpenter, a renowned filmmaker celebrated for his cult classic films, has made a lasting impact on fans of all ages. His impressive collection of works includes films such as Halloween, The Thing, Escape From New York, Christine, and, notably, They Live. They Live, written and directed by Carpenter himself, drew inspiration from Ray Nelson’s 1963 short story Eight O’Clock in the Morning. Starring Roddy Piper, Keith David, and Meg Foster, the film follows a wanderer who uncovers a startling truth: the ruling class are aliens disguised as humans, manipulating society through hidden messages. The film’s mix of action-packed scenes and profound societal observations continues to enthrall viewers today. At a Steel City Con panel discussion, Carpenter expressed his amazement at the film’s enduring relevance. He shared insights into its origins and discussed how the political landscape of the 1980s influenced its storyline.

Although John Carpenter’s primarily worked in (and forever defined) sci-fi and horror pictures, the man has long loved noir. (Never forget Harry Dean Stanton being offered an entire series of Pi films on the basis of his minor detective role in Christine.) It was maybe just a matter of time until his decade-running Lost Themes series turned that way, and thus today brings the release of Lost Themes IV: Noir, a 10-track tribute that plays on the genre’s dark tones with guitars and synths.
Not quite a smoky orchestral score, a fact they’re willing to acknowledge. Says longtime player Daniel Davies, “Some of the music is heavy guitar riffs, which is not in old noir films. But somehow, it’s connected in an emotional way.” While we wait for the younger-than-you-think Carpenter to reconsider a return to feature filmmaking, this is a nice pitstop.

10. Christine (1983)
She’s amazing, a true classic that leaves all men around her in awe, but her mind is evil and perverted. He’s a nerdy teenager who falls in love with her and succumbs to her dark will, eager to do anything to please her.

You can watch Christine on Max, Netflix, and Prime Video.
9. The Mist (2007)
It’s not what we see that truly terrifies us; it’s what we don’t see but know that it’s there. A mysterious mist surrounds a small town, letting out countless supernatural beings that hunt down their human prey. There’s no escape from them, but some still hope to survive the mist: a group of humans holes up in a supermarket to stay alive.

Christine and the Queens has released a new single, “Rentrer Chez Moi.” The French-language song was written and produced by the artist, and arrived alongside a music video directed by Sasha Mongin and produced by Premier Cri. The ethereal clip was filmed in Paris and Hanches, France.
On the poetic track, the musician sings about returning home to oneself. The English translation of the lyrics showcases the meta nature of the lines: “This song makes me cry because it is true, so much love I have for you, this deep...

You thought you were okay sitting on the toilet until you read Dreamcatcher. You’d happily walk past a storm drain until you read It. You’d go into a creepy boutique shop before checking Needful Things out of the library. You didn’t even mind checking into Room 217 at a hotel until you read The Shining. More than perhaps any other horror novelist, Stephen King has unnerved our collective imagination with twisted creations that stalk our everyday lives. Demonic cars, rabid dogs, alien domes, possessed caretakers, crazed fans… there’s a Stephen King monster for every day of the year, plus one extra on leap years.
With a back catalogue reaching all the way from the 1970s to now, if you stacked every novel Stephen King had ever published in a teetering pile, it would almost certainly topple over and crush you to death.

Recently, the Corridor Crew YouTube channel added the 130th video to their 'VFX Artists React' series. The crew took a look at special effects from a few movies, including recent releases like Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and Wonder Woman 1984.
These CGI extravaganzas drew some criticisms from the team, while they were pleasantly surprised by the effects from different movie – one that is more than four decades old.
The Killer Car
In the 1983 film Christine, an awkward teenager named Arnie falls in love with a busted up 1958 Plymouth Fury named Christine. Christine has a long and violent history – when a factory worker dropped cigarette ash on her, he was later found dead in the car. Since then, at least three other people have died in Christine.
As Arnie works to lovingly restore the car, his personality changes from a sweet and bumbling nerd to a rebellious and arrogant bad boy.

Sister Wives star Christine Brown has a captive audience of 1.5 million followers each time she makes a sales pitch using her fame from the TLC series. But when it looks like fame can only go so far, it’s time to plug in some extra perks. And Christine came up with a doozy.
Still, to some fans, it also appears that Christine might be getting a bit desperate. But today, she’s offering 15 minutes of fame for the takers.
Sister Wives: Christine Brown Offers It And They Bite?
In the past, Christine Brown has shown she’s quite the salesperson with the products she plugs. So, some fans suggest you’ve got to hand it to her.
This lady goes for the gusto by using her Sister Wives’ fame to the max. So far, she’s carved out a nice promoter gig for herself with a few products in the past.

John Carpenter's 1992 film "Memoirs of an Invisible Man" was a departure for the director. Throughout the 1980s, Carpenter directed many notable genre films that affected a direct and guileless style that roped in many fans and critics. His 1980s "hot streak" included "Escape from New York," "The Thing," "Christine," "Starman," and "Big Trouble in Little China." Although his 1987 film "Prince of Darkness" was nonsensical, it has many defenders, and his 1988 film "They Live" is now considered a seminal anti-establishment punk-rock text of the Reagan era.
That streak seems to have ended with "Memoirs," however. Although the film is slick, entertaining, and boasts some excellent special effects, many Carpenter fans felt a little off-put by the director's attempts to helm a comedic Chevy Chase vehicle. In "Memoirs," Chase plays a stock market guy who is accidentally exposed to an invisibility experiment. The film follows his travails as he adjusts to his lack of opacity,...

Recently, Sister Wives fans point out that one of Kody and Christine Brown’s daughters are mimicking some of his behaviors. Likewise, they refer to her as Kody Brown Jr. in one discussion. Without a doubt, it wasn’t fans offering her a compliment.
Kody Brown’s Daughter Irritates Fans
Sadly, the Brown family is in a living nightmare currently. With the shocking loss of Garrison Brown, nothing seems right. Likewise, Sister Wives fans are transitioning through this difficult stage as well. However, there are some things that are irritating which fans can’t overlook. After Garrison’s military funeral, the family pictures show how deeply they are grieving. But some fans find it disturbing that Mykelti Brown is seemingly seeking attention from the devasting event. John Carpenter’s illustrious catalog of horror and non-horror classics has already seen three remakes, with at least one more kinda-sorta confirmed on the way (Escape from New York). If you consider 2011’s The Thing enough of a remake, notch another on the bedpost. It makes sense; Carpenter turned his no-bullshit attitude into a masterful filmmaking style, and those listed titles harbor nostalgic admiration. We’re probably closer than we think to seeing Bryan Fuller’s Christine remake for Blumhouse or a contemporary They Live, while Dwayne Johnson’s Big Trouble in Little China sequel project fades away. Imagine Julia Ducournau’s Christine should Fuller exit, or what about if James Gunn booked a brief horror vacation away from the Dceu for his take on They Live?
Carpenter’s brand of down-and-dirty storytelling mixed with societal commentaries make his works perfect for generational updates, but they can’t all be winners.

In 2019, the documentary of 80s horror In Search of Darkness became an instant hit with horror fans. Now, a beautiful coffee table style companion book is available and is a must-own for all fans of one of horror’s greatest eras. The book is a walk down the horror aisle of the best mom and pop video store in the heyday of VHS, featuring full color photos, poster art, insightful essays and more. More than just a nostalgic throwback, In Search of Darkness is the kind of book I wish I’d had back in my years as a burgeoning horror fan but is also satisfying for the film fanatic I have become in the years since.
The format is beautifully and simply laid out, with at least a dozen (usually more) movies from each year of the decade presented in order of release accompanied by informative and insightful essays...

Rod Serling's "The Twilight Zone" features several stories about haunted towns, extraterrestrial invasions, and every strange thing that occurs within the titular liminal space, where belief and superstition meet. (Remember when an entire town of actors was seemingly frozen in place?) In the show's 134th episode, "You Drive," a sentient car hounds a guilty man to mete out justice — in this instance, technology and human inventions are not symbols of doom, but demonstrate self-awareness and morals that some of their inventors or users lack. Although the writing in this episode comes off as muddled or shallow at times, "You Drive" remains memorable for pulling off an impressive feat: Creating the illusion of a self-driving car following a guilty man around.
Before we delve into the mechanics of the sequence, here's a recap the broad strokes of the story. Oliver Pope (Edward Andrews), an anxious, self-absorbed government official driving a 1956 Ford Fairlane Club Sedan,...

Exclusive: Pulitzer Prize-winning August: Osage County playwright Tracy Letts has signed with UTA for representation in all areas, the agency said today.
A prolific playwright and actor, Letts’s career in theater has spanned decades, including the Tony- and Pulitzer-nominated The Minutes, which he wrote and starred in. The dark comedy opened on Broadway on April 17, 2022.
Letts’ other recent Broadway productions include his play Linda Vista in 2019. The same year, he starred opposite Annette Bening in a Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, and he won a Tony for his portrayal of “George” in the 2012 revival of Edward Albee’s Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Letts was honored with the Pulitzer in 2008 for his August: Osage County, winner of five Tony awards including Best Play.
In 2019, Letts played Henry Ford II in James Mangold’s Ford v Ferrari and starred in Greta Gerwig’s Little Women.

Ready to take a “Night Swim?”
“Night Swim” is the story of a young couple (played by Wyatt Russell and Kerry Condon), who move, with their family, into a new house. One of the biggest draws of this new house? The oversized swimming pool in the back yard. (Russell’s character has a degenerative disease; he thinks the pool will help.) Of course, soon after moving in they start to notice that the pool is exhibiting some alarming tendencies. Yes, this pool is haunted.
It’s the perfect movie for people who get unnecessarily freaked out when they wade into the deep end, who wonder what is lurking in the shadowy corner of the pool or who have ever read the Chuck Palahniuk short story “Guts” (don’t look it up – it made people puke). And it’s the perfect subject for a horror movie, uncannily turning an everyday space...

It's hard to picture anybody but the iconic Jamie Lee Curtis as Laurie Strode in John Carpenter's "Halloween," but she wasn't a shoe-in for the role by any means. Carpenter thought she had the right stuff on her first audition, but you must remember that at the time she was just another unproven actress in a town overflowing with unproven actresses, albeit not all of them had superstar parents like Jamie Lee.
Laurie Strode put Jamie Lee Curtis on the map, no question about it, but there was some competition for the role, and the fun part is we have to play a little guessing game to figure out who that competition was.
On the "Halloween" commentary with Carpenter and Curtis, they bring up the actress who was Jamie Lee's main competition ... but they can't remember her name!

The following contains major spoilers for the short story “I Know What You Need.”
Ever since Brian De Palma’s Carrie set fire to the silver screen, Stephen King has been one of the hottest names in cinematic horror. With hundreds of titles in his extensive catalog, there’s seemingly no end to the list of adaptable text. King’s stories exist in all iterations of film and TV, from big-budget blockbusters to intimate indie films, but you didn’t always need the backing of a major studio to take a crack at an adaptation. For many years, the Master of Horror sold the limited rights to a select list of short stories for the affordable price of $1.
Affectionately called Dollar Babies, this arrangement allowed burgeoning filmmakers to try their hand at adapting the work of Stephen King without blowing most of their budget on expensive licensing fees. One such director is Julia Marchese.

David Gordon Green's 2022 slasher film "Halloween Ends" is an unusual entry in the series in many ways. In it, the vicious masked serial killer Michael Myers (James Jude Courtney) has been living in a sewer and stays out of the film's central action for the bulk of its running time. "Ends," instead, focuses largely on a character named Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell), a man who, two years ago, accidentally killed the young boy he was babysitting. Green envisioned Corey's hometown town of Haddonfield, Illinois as a bitter and wounded place, full of spiteful, hurt people who cannot heal from the murderous damage that Michael caused way back in 1978, as well as his return in 2018. Every citizen is bitter, angry, and paranoid. Corey is bullied and picked on, unable to outlive his mistake.
When Corey wanders into Michael's sewer (he was fleeing bullies), he finds Michael and a strange transference occurs.

Stephen Colbert got a special treat from one of his heroes on the Halloween episode of “The Late Show”: Horror movie legend John Carpenter. Unfortunately, the CBS host kind of botched it when he revealed he doesn’t care for Carpenter’s most famous movie, accidentally hurting the film’s main character in the process. Whoopsie.
The sketch begins when Colbert walks down spookier-than-normal hallways of the Ed Sullivan Theater, where he bumps into the director of “Halloween,” “They Live,” “The Thing,” “Escape From New York,” “Big Trouble in Little China” and so many more just lurking there.
“Oh, sorry if I spooked you. I was just checking my email,” Carpenter said after Colbert jump-scared.
“Legendary filmmaker John Carpenter! What are you doing back here?” Colbert asked.
“Well, it is my big night, so I thought I’d come back and just drop in on you,” Carpenter replied.

He may be the greatest horror director of all time (just ask Jordan Peele), but John Carpenter’s film taste skews farther away from the genre than you might expect.
Born in 1948 in Carthage, New York, Carpenter grew up with a love of cinema, watching Howard Hawks westerns an early age, and started making short films with an 8mm camera before he started high school. He studied at Western Kentucky University and University of Southern California, before dropping out of the latter after a short he made, “The Resurrection of Broncho Billy,” won an Oscar.
Now with a sudden amount of prestige, Carpenter made two little seen projects “Dark Star” and “Assault on Precinct 13,” both now critically acclaimed, before really breaking out with 1978’s “Halloween.” Starring a young Jamie Lee Curtis, the independent film became a massive hit, grossing $70 million, turning main villain Michael Myers into a horror icon,...

Some cliche somewhere said that ‘a picture is worth a thousand words.’ This has proven to be the case for me and especially when it comes to fan art. I have always sought out great fan art and have wanted to share it with as many people as possible. “Awesome Art We’ve Found Around The Net” is the outlet for that passion. In this column, I will showcase the kick-ass artwork of some great artists, with the hopes that these artists get the attention they deserve. That’s the aim. If you have any questions or comments, or even suggestions of art or other great artists, feel free to contact me at any time at theodorebond@joblo.com.

Trafalgar Releasing’s concert film “Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour” was on song at the U.K. and Ireland box office, debuting at No. 1 with £5.7 million ($6.9 million), according to numbers from Comscore.
The film is now the territory’s highest grossing event cinema release, surpassing National Theatre Live’s filmed play “Prima Facie,” starring Jodie Comer, which collected £5.5 million in 2022. Swifties will now strive to take the film beyond the £9.8 million earnings of “Michael Jackson: This Is It” (2009) to make it the highest-grossing concert film in the U.K. and Ireland.
Tim Richards, founder and CEO of cinema chain Vue International, said: “We saw an incredible response from Swifties across the U.K. and Ireland who dressed up, sang along and danced away with fellow fans, with sell out sessions despite scheduling an unprecedented number of shows so no one missed out.”

John Carpenter, the mastermind behind horror cult classics like Halloween, The Thing, Christine, and more, brought out some of his unreleased horror films based on some bone-chilling true events. John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams‘ is a six-part anthology series featuring some real-life slashers and ghost stories, told by real people who have survived the horrors. Let’s unravel the mystery of these terrifying stories one by one in each episode. The first episode opened with the story Kelly. It’s a documentary based on the real-life incident of a resident of Neapan, Ontario, where a playful planchette game summoned a spirit who demanded justice in order to rest in peace.

A quick and partial mea culpa to Amazon’s Lore, Netflix’s Unsolved Mysteries reboot and several other semi-recent spooky, based-on-fact anthology series to which I gave mixed reviews for general unevenness and because I’d seen the same format used on many superior shows over the years.
It isn’t that Lore and Unsolved Mysteries have suddenly become good shows in my memory. But watching Peacock’s new spooky, based-on-fact anthology series John Carpenter’s Suburban Screams, I was struck by how often episodes had me yearning not for installments of the genre’s top-tier programs but just for the proficient comforts of uneven mediocrity.
Having John Carpenter’s name atop Suburban Screams isn’t wholly symbolic. He co-wrote the series’ forgettable musical theme and he directed one of its six installments. The truth, though, is that affixing the “John Carpenter” brand makes it only worthy of being reviewed,...
