- In the original Japanese version of the film, a World Wildlife logo praising the film is displayed at the beginning. For the US release from Disney, this logo was replaced with a typical Studio Ghibli logo.
- The Norwegian version is the same as original Japanese version, containing the World Wildlife logo in the beginning. However, despite the 2009 DVD version running for 112 minutes due to PAL speed up, the cover misspells the duration as being only 94 minutes.
- The film had the Toei logo at the beginning when released in Japan in 1984 but unlike the World Wildlife disclaimer (which IS included in both Japanese and some non-US releases), the Toei logo was replaced in most subsequent video releases with either the Studio Ghibli logo or an older Tokuma Shoten/Hakuhodo logo.
- Released in the US and Europe in 1985 as "Warriors of the Wind". This version removed approximately 23 minutes of footage (including the entire opening credits sequence, much of Nausicaä exploring the Toxic Jungle, Yupa and Nausicaä's discussion in her laboratory, flashbacks of young Nausicaä defending the baby Ohmu, Asbel and Nausicaä's dialogue about the nature of the Toxic Jungle, several sequences leading up to the Giant God Warrior, and the entirety of the ending credits montage save for the very last shot of Nausicaä's flight goggles). In addition, some character names were changed and some of the dialogue was rewritten outright.
