After nearly two years, “Industry” is back for a third season. And this time around, the HBO drama is chronicling a financial saga that will pull its antiheroes into the upper echelons of the financial, political and media worlds.
Created by Mickey Down and Konrad Kay, “Industry” first premiered in 2020 as a steamy and high-stakes drama about a group of new hires at a top-tier London bank. Not all of those newbies lasted, but Down and Kay have found new ways to dive into this ever-stressful world. This season, they’re diving into the world of ethical investment through a new character played by Kit Harington.
Consider this your guide on who’s who in the cast of “Industry” Season 3.

Late summer brings with it many things: last-minute vacations (and flings), intense heat, ever-so-slightly cooler breezes, wistfulness, and, this year in Chicago, at least, the Democratic National Convention. It’s also the time of year that The A.V. Club cranks up the nostalgia engine to revisit and reassess the pop culture from two decades prior.

Wrestling legend Kevin Sullivan has died at the age of 74.
“A unique and influential figure in sports-entertainment history, Sullivan found success both in the ring and behind the scenes with his penchant for far out ideas that pushed creative boundaries,” reads a statement from the WWE. “As a villain, Sullivan was a major rival for the ring’s most legendary heroes, including Dusty Rhodes, Hulk Hogan and The Road Warriors. He specialized in leading dangerous factions, which included his wicked Army of Darkness, collegiate bullies The Varsity Club, and the wild Dungeon of Doom, which introduced Big Show to the wrestling world.

Sometimes, you go into a movie knowing its entire plot already. Justin Baldoni’s “It Ends with Us” certainly isn’t trying to conceal the story laid bare in the film’s trailer — all of it based on the 2016 bestseller by Colleen Hoover that was a smash amongst the BookTok faithful — leading to some delicate choices to keep things moving and interesting over the course of more than two hours of running time. Armed with a script by “Daddio” filmmaker Christy Hall, “It Ends with Us” manages to sensitively handle its delicate subject matter, though largely at the cost of a more intricate narrative.
The film begins with Lily Bloom (Blake Lively), a New England florist who connects instantly with neurosurgeon Ryle Kincaid. Their first interaction on a Boston rooftop is almost a meet-cute — except that Lily’s dad died just a few days prior, and Ryle’s carrying his...

When you think of shows that define teen drama, One Tree Hill is at the very top of the list. The beloved CW series had everything a young audience looks for: from messy love triangles to half-brother angst. When it made the jump to take its characters from high school to their adult years between seasons 4 and 5, however, the show reached a whole new and exciting level.
It’s extremely difficult to do a successful time jump, especially when it comes to the YA genre. If it’s done incorrectly, it can ruin the entire show as well as its characters, losing fans in the process as they long for what the show once was. One Tree Hill managed to use its time jump to not only elevate the storylines but breathe new life into its beloved group of characters after graduation.

This post contains spoilers for "House of the Dragon" season 2.
"House of the Dragon" season 2 just ended this past Sunday night, and HBO has announced that season 3 will be shooting early next year, so the show likely won't be back until sometime in 2026. More importantly, a fourth season has been given the green light, and season 4 will mark the end of this series. I know several people who are genuinely thrilled with this show, and I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, but the way that season finale ended -- by wrapping up this chapter of the story without actually getting to the confrontation it had been teasing the whole time -- proved to me that this season only had about four hours worth of story in it that was stretched across eight episodes.

Before Tim Burton’s Batman legitimized the big-screen superhero experience, the reception to Michael Keaton’s casting was less than thrilling, as initially, fans didn’t see him fit for the part. Nothing much has changed since, as not only do fans expect actors to capture the spirit of their comic book counterparts, but also resemble them physically.
Fortunately, Hugh Jackman was immune to this backlash after being initially cast in Bryan Singer’s X-Men, and he has his obscurity as an actor at the time to thank for it.

This article contains spoilers for the "House of the Dragon" season 2 finale.
"House of the Dragon" season 2 just ended much earlier than it should have. The season had a reduced episode order and ended up with eight episodes rather than the 10 it was supposed to have. As series writer Sara Hess told Entertainment Weekly, "it wasn't really our choice" to cut down the number of episodes, even if HBO insisted to Deadline that the episode count trim was "story-driven."
TV seasons getting shorter isn't new, it's been happening for years. We've gone from 22 episodes a season down to 13, then 10, and now eight is normal. It's a bad trend that's come with hyper-inflating budgets and the diminishing of writers rooms, which also means there's less time for the kind of experimentation that made shows like "Lost" a cultural phenomenon. The shorter seasons also means that many shows can feel rushed nowadays,...

Few movies have such broad "you had to be there" appeal as "Cloverfield." Released in 2008 after a much-hyped marketing campaign featuring title-free promos and cryptic web pages, the movie wowed (and to some extent divided) audiences with a prime bit of misdirection: it was a good old-fashioned kaiju film disguised as a found footage thriller disguised as a shaky cam home video-style story.
"Cloverfield" was made during a time when J.J. Abrams was known as the mystery-crafting maestro behind "Lost," not a polarizing part of the "Star Wars" universe. Director Matt Reeves, who would go on to make the emo-Robert-Pattinson-led blockbuster "The Batman," was then known for the college-set soap "Felicity." And while the film's cast members, including Lizzy Caplan and T.J. Miller, are recognizable today, they were mostly unknown at the time of its release, lending the project a "Blair Witch"-style verisimilitude.

In the world of manga and anime, Tite Kubo’s Bleach has captured the hearts of fans with its supernatural action series that has become a cornerstone of the Shonen genre. At the center of it stands Ichigo Kurosaki, the orange-haired Soul Reaper who has been the driving force behind the series since its inception in 2001.

This post contains spoilers for "Lost" season 3 and "Saw II."
With "Lost" streaming on Netflix in time to mark its 20th anniversary, a new generation of viewers have the chance to watch perhaps the greatest episode in TV history: the show's season 3 finale, "Through the Looking Glass." It's a jam-packed two-part installment, although it starts off a little weird with its constant recurring flashbacks around Jack Shephard (Matthew Fox). The show had given us so many Jack-centric episodes by this point that it felt sort of anti-climactic to center the finale on him too. It also seemed strange that Jack apparently had a sad alcoholic phase we'd never been privy to before. Still, after nearly 60 episodes straight of pre-island flashbacks, most viewers were happy to go along with this, especially since the on-island storylines were so compelling.
In the final scene, we see Jack meeting up with Kate, someone he...

Soccer Mommy is back to officially announce Evergreen, her fourth studio album, out October 25th via Loma Vista Recordings. She’s also shared “M,” the latest single from the album.
The project of Nashville-based singer and songwriter Sophie Allison, Soccer Mommy recruited indie connoisseur Ben H. Allen III to produce Evergreen, and recorded the album in Atlanta’s Maze Studios. Unlike her more experimental last record Sometimes, Forever, which she made with Daniel Lopatin (Oneohtrixpointnever), Evergreen is a return to a more organic, contemplative sound, with acoustic guitars, lush orchestration, and raw honesty.
She originally previewed Evergreen with “Lost,” and now, Soccer Mommy picks up where she left off with the similarly wistful “M.” With acoustic and electric guitars fluttering atop a dense, reverb-heavy atmosphere, “M” is akin to the more solemn and intricate hues of Soccer Mommy’s Color Theory as well as Phoebe Bridgers’ Punisher. Bleach’s success has been ever-growing. The Thousand-Year Blood War arc stands as one of the best with its manga and anime both living as an exception outside of the rushed ending of Tite Kubo’s tour de force. While it is showered with constant praise, there isn’t much it can do to account for the various fluctuations the series has seen in its full run.

It is still regarded as one of the best arcs. However, that wasn’t the one that convinced the mangaka that his series needed a soft reboot. How difficult is it to write a convincing hit record for a film or TV show? Just take one look at the Harry Connick Jr rom-com Find Me Falling, streaming on Netflix…
There are all kinds of elements that, even in the best-written or best-directed films or TV shows, can pull the viewer out of the moment: it might be an off-key performance, an unconvincing prop or a special effect that doesn’t stand up to scrutiny. One thing that can be particularly difficult for filmmakers to get right, though, is to write a song that, in the movie or show’s fictional world at least, is a much-loved, multi-platinum hit.

One thing that can be particularly difficult for filmmakers to get right, though, is to write a song that, in the movie or show’s fictional world at least, is a much-loved, multi-platinum hit.

Forget summer blockbusters. On July 1, ABC’s six-season hit series Lost became available for streaming on Netflix and the show’s availability on not one, but two major streaming services (the other being Hulu) has skyrocketed the story of the survivors of Oceanic Flight 815 back into the spotlight. From original fans of the series, which ran from 2004 to 2010, to new Dharma Initiative recruits, all eyes are on the lush island where characters like Jack, Kate, and Sawyer found themselves fighting to survive and keep their own dark secrets hidden.
Lost’s renaissance is sure to leave a new generation of viewers asking questions about the mythology of the island, the story of its strange inhabitants, and what the heck happened in the final episode. And, don’t even get us started on explaining the series’ epilogue, which new viewers won’t find on Netflix or Hulu. There’s also bound...

Abdul “Duke” Fakir, the last surviving member of legendary Motown Records group The Four Tops, who racked up 17 Top 20 singles from 1964-73 including the chart-topping classics “I Can’t Help Myself” and “Reach Out I’ll Be There,” died today at his home in Detroit. He was 88.
In a statement, Fakir’s family said he died of heart failure.
After a string of non-charting singles for Chess Records in the 1950s as The Four Aims, the group rebranded and signed with Berry Gordy’s wildly successful Motown Records. They sang backup on some of the label’s songs by other acts before breaking out with the Holland-Dozier-Holland song “Baby I Need Your Loving” in 1964. During the next decade, they became one the label’s top acts, with more than three dozen songs on the pop chart.

What was initially a plan for a Star Wars film rejected by Disney seems to have transformed into the worst flop in the career of director and writer Zack Snyder, as the recently released Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver, the sequel to Rebel Moon, is once again panned by critics, with the ratings listing it as Snyder’s worst movie – yes, worse than even the horrible Sucker Punch and the first part of Rebel Moon.
But, it seems that this won’t be stopping Snyder from expanding his franchise, as per the most recent reports. We know that Snyder and his writers are currently working on the script for a third movie if Netflix decides to make it, but a new project is coming sooner than expected and in a very unexpected format.
But, aside from this, we’d also like to report that the fans are not too happy about this,...

Jennifer Lawrence Once Took A Jab At Lindsay Lohan. (Photo Credit – Instagram)
In 2015, Jennifer Lawrence took a shot at Lindsay Lohan, prompting the Parent Trap actress’ family to hit back. Jennifer Lawrence stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert In 2015, where she took a jab at Lindsay Lohan.
At the time, Lawrence quipped, “I get like Lindsay Lohan–grade exhaustion but without any drugs or alcohol. I’m always in bed early. I’m still tired.”
Lindsay Lohan didn’t take too kindly to the remark, nor did her family, who, united by Jennifer Lawrence’s choice words, went after her online and in the media. Before Lohan responded to Lawrence’s seemingly callous quip, her sister Aliana Lohan fired back by tweeting: “I never breathe life into negativity, but I stand by my family. Joe Biden announcing today that he is dropping out of the 2024 presidential race has given Damon Lindelof “genuine excitement for the election.”
The first significant Hollywood donor to go public with a call for supporters to withhold their cash after Biden’s disastrous June 27 debate performance and to have the 81-year-old incumbent end his reelection bid, the Lost showrunner Sunday took to social media to now praise Potus. Declaring “the Dembargo is lifted,” Lindelof also said he “will fully support whoever can catalyze passion and engagement across our country… our Entire country, no caveats.”
As you can see, Emmy winner Lindelof didn’t offer Vice President Kamala Harris an endorsement, as Biden did, but complimented the Veep for her own reaction to Biden’s announcement:

In the modern age of streaming and prestige TV, less is often considered more. A season of TV will be six, eight, or if you’re really lucky, 10 episodes long. It has been a bone of contention. During the recent writers’ strike, shorter seasons of streaming shows was one of the fields of conflict.
On the other hand, in a recent interview with CinemaBlend, Star Trek’s current head honcho Alex Kurtzman argued, “it’s funny you can talk to old writers of old Trek series, and they’re like, ‘Man, there’s a bunch of filler episodes in there. We are just trying to get to 22 a season,’ you know, and, and we all know which of those episodes were [filler], we know the ones that were truly stellar from the ones that felt like they were kind of spinning their wheels.”

Euphoria season 3 is finally coming, but new seasons of modern TV shows are taking years to make. We take a look at why.
The past couple of weeks has brought a lot of good news for fans of modern, prestige TV. Euphoria season 3 is finally heading into production next January and we’ll be getting the new season of Severance in the same month. Meanwhile, Stranger Things season 5 is now halfway through filming.
This would all be great news, except every one of these shows were last on TV three years ago, in 2022. The wait between seasons has stretched from roughly a year, maybe two, to several. It’ll be 2026 before we see a new season of Euphoria and by then, many of us will have largely forgotten what happened to Rue and her friends since the last time we saw them.
Why has the wait become so long?

[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers for Season 1 of “The Acolyte.”]
“The Acolyte” creator and director Leslye Headland loves a binge watch. The accessibility and volume of television out there in the streaming galaxy is such that not only is it possible to wait for a handful of episodes, but honestly seems preferable to her. You’ve got to sort out if a show will appeal to you, if you’re watching it with friends or a partner, and if so, are you doing that together or asynchronously? It’s a much easier call to make with three or four episodes at a time than just a pilot, invariably an exercise in worldbuilding.
“The last thing I think I really enjoyed watching weekly was ‘Breaking Bad,’ which I know is like a decade ago now,” Headland told IndieWire on the Filmmaker Toolkit podcast. “Or ‘Lost’ or like ‘The Sopranos.’ But those were constructed by these guys who knew that old model backwards and forwards,...

Once upon a time, in a TV world long ago, there was no such thing as a series finale. How can that be? In the beginning, most series were episodic, and although viewers came to love many characters, there weren’t story arcs to be resolved, or even futures to be determined. Somewhere out there, it seems, Lucy and Ricky and Fred and Ethel will always be up to their shenanigans, because it quite simply never really ended.
That all changed in 1963 when Americans got hooked on “The Fugitive.” Week to week, viewers tuned in to watch wrongly-convicted Dr. Kimble relentlessly search for his wife’s true killer while running from the law. TV history was made in 1967 when this series provided an actual conclusion to its story, which went on to become the most-watched television episode up to that time, proving that audiences yearned for closure with their favorite characters.

Gen X kids grew up with a steady after-school diet of Gilligan’s Island, a show that, despite its pop-culture ubiquity, only lasted three seasons. Maybe that was because there were only so many ways for seven castaways to try (and fail) to escape a desert island. But the show’s producer, Sherwood Schwartz, foresaw that shortcoming and had plans to mix it up if the show continued to get renewed.
Only one more season of being stranded was the plan, Schwartz told the Muncie Evening News via MeTV. “I hoped from the outset that the show would go for four years with them on the island,” he explained. “But I’ve had a projected escape in the back of my mind.”
Schwartz’s bonkers plan sounds like a cross between Fantasy Island and White Lotus. “Should they get rescued, or should the ratings go down, or should we feel...

If you stop any random person on the street and ask about the worst ending to a television show ever made, chances are you'll be met with withering disdain directed towards "Game of Thrones" or even a sitcom like "How I Met Your Mother" — but years before either of those divisive finales ever aired, "Lost" lived up to its reputation as one of those most talked-about series throughout the aughts with a final episode that we're still talking about to this day. Even those who've never watched a single hour of "Lost" couldn't have missed the controversy surrounding how showrunners Carlton Cuse and Damon Lindelof chose to conclude their saga about survivors of a plane crash stranded on a deserted island. What may be surprising, however, is that the cast and crew have pinpointed exactly where things went wrong ... and it's probably not what you're thinking.

"Lost" is currently streaming on Netflix, making one of the most important and influential shows of the Golden Age of TV widely available to a whole new generation. Now, a fresh audience can discover a time when shows could feature both serialized storytelling and deep worldbuilding while still having standalone episodes that make its world feel bigger.
Indeed, watching "Lost" in 2024 feels like stepping into a time machine, with the TV drama doing compelling mysteries that make you want to binge the entire series at once in a way most Netflix shows can only dream of, all without underestimating the power of a great ensemble of characters or the power of episodes working individually in addition to working as part of a whole. Apple renews Presumed Innocent for Season 2 after the Jake Gyllenhaal-led thriller climbs the charts
Apple TV+ is so thrilled with the performance of its new legal drama Presumed Innocent that it is renewing the Jake Gyllenhaal-led thriller for another season. Some creative forces behind the first season, David E. Kelly, J.J. Abrams, and Gyllenhaal, return as executive producers for Presumed Innocent Season 2, with author Scott Turow co-executive producing. Wait. Isn’t Presumed Innocent a one-and-done story? Not when money is waiting in the wings, my friends!
Presumed Innocent debuted on Apple TV+ one month ago and has been tearing up the charts since then. It’s the most-viewed drama ever on Apple TV+, with the final two episodes arriving on July 17 and July 24. This article contains spoilers for the Lost finale and the epilogue “The New Man In Charge.”
Perhaps you may have heard, but the Lost finale was a touch controversial. As one of the biggest network TV dramas of all time and one of pop culture’s great “mystery box” stories, this ABC series had a lot of questions to answer in its final season.
Some would argue that Lost did a mostly fine job of resolving its many mysteries. In fact, that’s the official position taken here at Den of Geek. Many others, however, have found the finale’s focus on emotional catharsis over logical resolutions to be unsatisfying. While everyone is entitled to their opinion, something that the latter crowd sometimes misses in their interpretation of the Lost finale is that “The End” isn’t really the end. That’s right: there’s an epilogue to the Lost...
