If you're a big fan of trashy, popular airport mystery paperbacks, you probably know who James Patterson and Alex Cross are. Patterson is a highly successful author (he's the first person to ever sell one million e-books), and while these days he seems to let other people write for him and then just slaps his name on the cover and cashes a check, his early books were authored solo. And when he wrote those early books, he created Alex Cross, a character who has appeared in several books now. Cross is a brilliant Metropolitan Police Department detective who often hunts down twisted serial killers. He's the type of ready-for-the-screen character that people love to watch, so it makes sense that there have been multiple Alex Cross movies — and there's a new Alex Cross TV series on the way, too, headed to Prime Video.
For now, we're just going to focus on the movies.

When Hallmark fans watch their favorite romcoms and mystery series, this is a comfort watch. However, some of the same actresses who are acting in this frothier world can certainly bring a lot of grit to roles that are not on the network. That includes a couple who are working on two different series with Yellowstone creator, Taylor Sheridan.
There are three new series that viewers may want to check out now and in the coming months.

On When Calls The Heart, Kayla Wallace portrays Suffragette Fiona Miller. While Fiona is pretty fearless, she does not seem anything like the character that Kayla portrays in Landman. In this Taylor Sheridan series, she portrays liability lawyer Rebecca Savage. This character is “capable and intimidating.” Moreover, she is in West Texas to “clean up a mess.

Amazon Prime Video has greenlit “The Greatest,” the first-ever authorized scripted series about the life of Muhammad Ali. Jaalen Best will star as Ali while Ben Watkins, creator of Amazon’s upcoming Alex Cross series, is set as showrunner.
“The Greatest” was produced in collaboration with Ali’s estate, with his widow Lonnie Ali serving as executive producer. The series’ official description reads, “The amazing victories and defeats that made Ali a legend, both in and out of the ring, have been well documented and while those landmark events will live in ‘The Greatest,’ the heartbeat of the story is fueled by all the moments that took place outside of the spotlight. The world remembers an icon, but ‘The Greatest’ is about a man, a husband, a father, a brother and a son.
Ali’s life rights were originally acquired by executive producer Josh Wakely, who brought the project to Amazon.

Prime Video is taking a big step into true crime.
The Amazon-owned streamer has ordered a documentary series about the 2022 University of Idaho murders and the investigation, arrest and upcoming trial of Bryan Kohberger in connection with the case. The series, from Skydance Television and Story Syndicate, is based on an upcoming nonfiction book by best-selling author James Patterson and journalist Vicky Ward.
Liz Garbus (Lost Girls, I’ll Be Gone in the Dark) and Matthew Galkin (Murder in the Bayou) are set to co-direct the docuseries. Amazon MGM Studios, Skydance and Story Syndicate are also developing a scripted series based on the case, with Garbus attached to helm the first episode.
The series will also feature interviews with the mother and stepfather of victim Madison Mogen and the family of Ethan Chapin. Mogen, Chapin, Kaylee Goncalves and Xana Kernodle were killed in an apartment in Moscow, Idaho, in November...

Munjya Beats Bade Miyan Chote Miyan At The Indian Box Office (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Unlike 2023, the ongoing year didn’t witness monstrous grossers at the box office but has witnessed enough surprises in the first half itself. The latest addition to the list of surprises is Munjya, starring Sharvari Wagh and Abhay Verma. The film has turned out to be a huge success in the domestic market and recently surpassed the lifetime collection of Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff’s Bade Miyan Chote Miyan. Keep reading to know more!
Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, the horror comedy had a negligible buzz in the pre-release phase. But when it arrived in theatres on 7th June 2024, the film received mostly positive reviews from critics and enjoyed a big thumbs up from the ticket-buying audience. As a result, it put on a surprising performance during the opening week, which remained rock-steady during the ongoing second week.

Forty-five years ago, Christopher Cross released an album that would go on to set a nearly untouchable record. The classic rock artist’s self-titled LP, on the strength of the iconic “Sailing,” would go on to win all four general field awards at the 1980 Grammy Awards: Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best New Artist. Only one other musician has ever repeated that feat — Billie Eilish — and it took nearly four decades to do it.
Now, Seeker Music and music is fun are celebrating Cross’ landmark album with a brand new, never-before-pressed-on-vinyl reissue. This Pink Vinyl repressing of the 2019 remaster by Bernie Grundman comes packaged with a limited edition lyric poster insert and is set for release in late July. While pre-orders are going on now, we’re going to give you a chance to secure your copy of this iconic record before anyone else.

Kouta Hirano’s Hellsing has done wonders for the dark fantasy vampire genre, and most of its credit goes to its main character, Alucard. Deemed one of the strongest characters in the history of anime and manga, Alucard has remained undefeated in the entire series and has served the Hellsing organization in dealing with vampires and other supernatural forces.
Hellsing by Kouta Hirano | Gonzo Studio
While there were many villains introduced in the story, none of them were able to defeat Alucard because of the plethora of powers and abilities that he possessed. From shapeshifting to dark composition, Alucard is filled with strong attacks that can’t be rivaled by anyone. However, there was only one character who came close.

Exclusive: Susan Sarandon (Maybe I Do), William H. Macy (Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes) and Marcia Cross (You) have signed on to star in Exit Right, a new indie that veteran documentary filmmaker Thomas A. Morgan will direct from his own script for the London-based Garrick Street Productions and Square Zero Films.
Marking Morgan’s narrative debut, the film centers on Jan Randall (Sarandon), whose brain — affected with inoperable cancer — makes her deeply afraid of being trapped inside. Refusing to take medications that would reduce her final days to a hospital bed, she moves into a tent in her backyard. Determined to give her one last gift, her husband John courageously takes her on a trip around the world — on foot, in their own hometown, for what is truly the trip of a lifetime.

It’s been less than two years since TV exec Matt Thunell left Netflix to become president of Skydance Television. And in that time, Thunell — who previously ran spectacle and event programming at the streamer — has completed his first major assignment from Skydance boss David Ellison and chief creative officer Dana Goldberg: doubling their TV series output.
Today, Skydance has five series in active production: Amazon’s “Reacher” and “Cross,” Netflix’s “Fubar,” Apple TV+’s’ “Foundation” and “The Big Door Prize,” as well as five new series orders setup across Amazon, Apple TV+ and Netflix, including a comedy, a YA series, an action series starring Octavia Spencer and Hannah Waddingham, and a bull rider project led by Tim McGraw.

Amazon Prime Video made its first upfront presentation to advertisers on Tuesday in New York, with the streamer bringing out some of its biggest stars to break some news while touting its original series, film and sports offerings.
Amazon took over Pier 36 in Manhattan, which included a large installation dedicated to Amazon shows like “Fallout” and “The Summer I Turned Pretty” as well as movies like “Road House” and their various sports offerings like “Thursday Night Football.”
Amazon’s first major upfront started half an hour late — the long line to get in was referenced several times by Amazon MGM Studios head Jen Salke and even “You’re Cordially Invited” stars Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell. But once inside, advertisers were presented a star-studded litany of projects and news designed to make a huge splash in the marketplace.

It’s Day 2 of the Upfronts and Amazon is making its primetime debut.
The streamer is already making news with a series order for a Nic Cage-from Spider-Man noir live-action drama, a Jeopardy! spinoff and a slew of sports docs including a third season of Coach Prime.
There have also been renewals for The Boys and Mr. & Mrs. Smith.
This comes after Tom Brady was in the huddle for yesterday’s Fox Upfront and NBCUniversal held their annual ad blowout at Radio City Music Hall.
Held at Pier 36, Amazon kicked off thirty minutes late with thousands of people lining up outside a construction site to get in.
(Dade Hayes/Deadline)

Prime Video kinda has its audience figured out by now. With the success of series like “Jack Ryan” and “Reacher,” as well as something like “Terminal List,” the streaming service knows that big strong guys kicking ass seems to do good business. How do we know this for certain? Well, not only does Prime Video have another show in that mold, “Cross,” coming later this year, but the streaming service has already given the series a Season 2 renewal before one episode drops.

After concluding April with discussions of Ciarán Foy’s Eli (listen) and David Cronenberg’s eXistenZ (listen), we kicked off May with a revisit of Stephen Sommers’ delightful 1999 film, The Mummy (listen).
Now we’re headed into the past with Terence Young‘s adaptation of Frederick Knott‘s “disabled woman in danger” play, Wait Until Dark (1967).
In the film, recently blind Susy (Audrey Hepburn) is menaced by a trio of strange men, including sexually perverse ring leader Roat (Alan Arkin), “nice guy” Talman (Richard Crenna) and portly Carlino (Jack Weston). The men are looking for a doll full of heroin, which is located somewhere in her apartment, but she doesn’t know where!
Can Susy figure out the scam with the help of upstairs neighbor girl Gloria (Julie Herrod) or will she wind up hanging in the closet like Roat’s poor accomplice Lisa (Samantha Jones)?

Amazon Prime Video’s upcoming series based on James Patterson’s Alex Cross novels is being renewed for Season 2, Variety has learned from sources.
The show, which stars Aldis Hodge as Cross, has yet to debut its first season or even set a premiere date. But according to sources, Amazon was impressed enough with what they have seen from the first season to greenlight the second and begin casting. Jeanine Mason has reportedly already been cast in Season 2.
Reps for Amazon declined to comment.
If “Cross” proves to be popular, it would be the latest successful Amazon series based on a long-running novel character. The company found themselves with a massive hit on their hands courtesy of “Reacher” starring Alan Ritchson, based on the Jack Reacher novels written by Lee Child. Likewise, Amazon’s longest-running series to date was the cop drama “Bosch,” based on the Harry Bosch novels written by Michael Connelly.

The Curse of Oak Island team has begun excavating a new human-made circular stone feature in the swamp near Nolan’s Cross, which could be the spot where ancient Christian relics are buried.
This week’s episode started with disappointment. The rehabilitation and excavation of the Garden Shaft was the primary focus of this season, but it has been plagued with problems.
Dumas representatives informed Rick Lagina and the guys that approximately 479 gallons of seawater were currently gushing into the shaft, and pumping out such a quantity of water would make the whole structure unstable.
That means the project is on hold while the Dumas miners figure out what is the best option. Unfortunately, we are careering toward the end of the season, which sadly means that could be the end of the project for Season 11.
Thankfully, the guys have plenty to keep them occupied, and they’ve switched focus...

On The Curse of Oak Island this week, the team uncovers a brand new stone feature at the exact spot where an expert told them to dig for the Ark of the Covenant.
In recent weeks, researcher and symbologist John Edwards identified a couple of places along Nolan’s Cross where he believes Templar Knights have buried the Ark of the Covenant and possibly other ancient Christian artifacts.
John came to this conclusion after studying old books and documents that he believed used a cipher to reference the Ark, Oak Island, Templar Knights, and the Knight’s descendants in the Freemasons.
The researcher said that Nolan’s Cross was part of a bigger structure that marked a secret burial spot.
